Chapter 10
Oliver’s POV
I wasn’t sure where I was running, so I shifted and let Drew out and let him lead us. He was pissed, so he needed to run this off. I knew Micah was right about everything, if she was our mate, she would be in danger and if Marks had her in his sights, there was a reason for it. I just hoped he didn’t know anything more than we did at least for now.
For some reason we ended up near an apartment building, I wasn’t sure why we were here and Drew wasn’t answering me so I let him have his way, at least until we ran into Ryan.
“Alpha why are you here?” he questioned.
“Why are you?” I narrowed my eyes at him as he handed me some clothes.
“I’m protecting the girl as you requested.” He said taking a step back. “Did something happen that you are here?”
“No I let Drew come out for a run, and we ended up here. I am wondering if he knew she was here. He isn’t speaking to me right now, he’s upset we will not talk with the girl.” I said looking around. “So the girl is around here?”
“Yes that apartment complex there, so far she is home. She was upset about something but since you don’t want me talking to her, I figured I would stay outside and watch from here. She hopefully will go to sleep soon and I’ll head back to the packhouse.”
I looked over where he was pointing, now I understood why we were here. Drew wanted me to protect her, and he wanted to be here too. I didn’t know what we could do without actually having her in front of us, but thankfully if she stays inside once the lights go off we can head back to the packhouse and everything will be fine.
Oh no.” Ryan said looking in the direction of the apartment complex, I followed his vision.
Soma was coming our way, I pulled him out of the light so she wouldn’t see us. She was stumbling around a bit, I wasn’t sure if we should stop her. It probably would have been wise, but I didn’t want her freaking out on us, she was already looking like she’d been crying.
“Let’s follow her to ensure she is safe,” I said motioning for Ryan to follow her, we stayed in the dark as much as we could. I wasn’t liking that I could smell wine on her, Drew was starting to go crazy but I was managing to control him at least for now.
“Where do you think she is going?” Ryan asked watching her closely. “She doesn’t look too stable on her feet.”
“She’s been drinking, come on we have to go this way otherwise we’ll draw attention and I don’t want her knowing we’re following,” I said pulling him behind a building. I shouldn’t have done that but I didn’t have a choice, there were oncoming cars and I didn’t want her to see us.
I didn’t want to go behind the building, but I didn’t want her knowing we were following her. I hated that she smelled of the wine, what was she thinking? Drew was even mad, he wanted to take her back to the packhouse and keep her safe, but I knew with a non-werewolf I had to be careful and not put anyone at risk.
When we came around the building, there were three men with her. Drew wanted out, but I held him down. “Relax Drew, they might be humans.”
“Wolves mate,” Drew growled at me. “She gets hurt I’m going to kill you.”
“Don't worry.” I snapped at him. “Ryan go that way, we have to be careful here not sure what they want with her.”
“Don't worry Alpha, she isn't going to be harmed,” he said moving away from me.
“Let me go!” she growled, two were standing behind her, I wanted to jump on them and kill them but I was afraid it would scare Soma. I had to be careful, she looked like she could faint.
“After we’ve all had a turn.” He said pushing her into the two behind her. “Let’s have some fun with her. There’s no one here, so I am sure no one will hear her scream.” He said. “Mm,” he said licking his lips. “I’ll be gentle at first but end the end you’ll die but pleasured no doubt.” He growled.
“You have that one wrong,” I growled.
He turned to face me, I stood there clearly pissed off. “Oh you want to join?” he asked.
I looked at Soma, and then him. “No, she belongs to me,” I growled.
He looked at Soma and then back at me, “She bears no mark.” He challenged.
“Not yet.” I snapped. “If you don’t want to die, I’d suggest you let her go, and we can settle this our way,” I said as Ryan joined me.
“How about we finish with the girl, and then we’ll settle our way. She smells so sweet, I’d hate to use all my energy on you, and not be able to have my way with her too.” He said looking at me.
My eyes turned black and I lunged at the first guy, Soma stumbled onto her butt, the other two lunged at us.
I lost sight of Soma, she had to run off. I hoped she could make it back to her apartment, I couldn’t bear having something happen to her. I thought about having Ryan follow her, but he was helping me keep the other two at bay. I was able to snap the first one’s neck without much force. One of the two ran into the darkness, Ryan helped me finish off the one we had.
“Come to help Ryan clean up the werewolves we just killed.” I linked to a couple of pack members.
“Go,” Ryan said without me having to say anything. He knew I wanted to ensure she made it home safe. I was pissed, had we not been there tonight, she would have been hurt and Drew and I would have gone on a killing spree. I didn’t like the way this made me feel, the feelings for this girl. But I was too afraid to admit it to myself she was mine. I couldn’t accept it, at least not yet.
Running for what seemed like forever, Ryan linked me to her apartment number. Drew was trying to push forward but I knew I had to keep him at bay. I didn’t want him to do anything crazy and sure as hell didn’t want her to reject us. I knocked and waited, she sounded like she was stumbling around.
She quickly opened the door. “You’re okay!”
“Yeah, they were pussies.” I laughed. “I just wanted to make sure you made it home okay. I am sorry you got caught in a situation like that.” I said with a sad face. “What were you doing out in the dark alone, tipsy?”
“It was my fault. I was being stupid.” She said with a sad face. “Do you want to come in?”
“No it’s late, and you should get to bed, I could tell you’ve had more wine.” I smiled. “I have an early meeting, hopefully, I’ll see you around.”
Drew was trying to get me to stay with her, but I knew it would be bad for the both of us. Once I heard her lock her door, I took a deep breath. She was stupid tonight, and now I would have to worry about her every night. Something happened with her, and I wanted to find out but I didn’t want her thinking I was some creep either.
“Did she make it home?” Ryan linked me.
“Yeah, come here and ensure she doesn’t leave again, I need to take Drew for a run otherwise I am going to lose control and he will come back here and kidnap her and force her into mating with us.”
“On my way, we’ve taken care of the wolves already,” he said coming into sight.
“How are you here so fast?” I questioned.
“I knew you weren’t going to leave her unprotected, I hope she learned her lesson tonight, this was not a good thing for us,” he said taking a deep breath. “Those wolves were rogues, I wonder why they were here?”
“Might be the cop had them come into town to see if they could get ahold of her?” he said leaning against the wall. “Or they happened to come here looking for an easy target.”
“No,” I said shaking my head. “I heard they were hunting her since she left her apartment, so someone had to have sent them to come after her. If I find out Marks had anything to do with this, we’re going to kill the bastard tonight.”
“Let’s get back to the packhouse first, she’s sleeping. Her heart rate is calm now.”
