Chapter 9

Soma’s POV

I wasn’t sure how long I sat there, but the sun was down and they were already closing down, the clerk behind the counter brought me another coffee and some more cookies.

“We’re closing up, Boss said to bring these to you.” he half-smiled setting them down in front of me. “I hope you have a better day tomorrow.”

“Thanks,” I said getting up from the table. I wasn’t sure how tomorrow was going to be, I was scared it was going to turn to shit and I would be out of a shop and this cop was going to make my life hell.

I decided I wasn’t going to open the store tomorrow. Running across the street, I unlocked the store and quickly wrote a note and posted it on the door. Looking around I frowned tears formed in my eyes. This was my whole life and I was letting some halfwit detective bully me, he wasn’t going to win but I didn’t fight tonight. Locking the door, I headed home. Mouse greeted me with a long meow.

“Don’t look at me like that.” I hissed at him. “I know I could have been stronger, but I just can't deal with him right now,” I said picking the overweight cat up. “Maybe tomorrow I will go in late, but right now I feel like sleeping in.”

Pouring myself a glass of wine, I pulled out a novel and tried to get my mind off of today’s troubles, but it just seemed to plague me. I wasn’t sure what I could do to prove to this cop I wasn’t doing anything wrong, and he had the wrong idea about me. Closing my eyes tears fell down my cheeks, I was giving up and this wasn’t cool. “Damn it!”

“Damn he isn’t going to invade my mind!” I slammed the book down and gulped the wine down. “Maybe a walk will do.” I drank another glass of wine before setting out for my walk, I knew two glasses was a dangerous game, but at the moment the nice air made me feel better and I needed to calm my mind before I did something stupid. I was already feeling weird from the first one, the second one made me a little too loose, and I wasn’t sure I should be out there.

But I wasn’t going to be too far from home, and I felt I was in a safe neighborhood, so what could go wrong right? Closing my eyes, I continued to walk, a feeling of being followed made my heart skip a few beats, I felt like I needed to find a place that had people but everywhere was already closed down, as it was almost midnight there.

Pushing my hair out of my face, I glanced behind me two men trailed me, I could hear them laughing and giggling, but I couldn’t hear what they were saying, I was a little worried they were going to do something to me.

Almost bumping into someone he grabbed me. “Hey where you going?” he smirked at me.

“Let me go,” I said trying to get out of his hold, but he tightened his grip. “A woman, clearly not sober and alone, now why would I do that?” he said licking his lips.

“Because a good person would do that,” I said rolling my eyes knowing my words were going to fall on death's ears. I tried to free my arms from his hold but he squeezed harder. “Ouch, you’re hurting me.”

“Well sugar I’m not a good person we’re in the hunt, and we’ve been hunting you since you left your apartment.” He said bringing his nose to my neck. “You do smell pretty sweet too.”

“Let me go!” I growled, I glanced over my shoulder the two that were walking behind me were standing there looking like they were going to have their way with me too. I tried kicking him, but he was expecting it.

“After we’ve all had a turn.” He said pushing me into the two behind me. “Let’s have some fun with her. There’s no one here, so I am sure no one will hear her scream.” He said gliding his hands down my face to my chest. “Mm,” he said licking his lips. “I’ll be gentle at first but end the end you’ll die but pleasured no doubt.” He growled.

“You have that one wrong.” A familiar voice growled.

He turned to face the voice, Oliver stood there clearing pissed off. “Oh you want to join?” he asked.

Oliver looked at me, and then them. I was scared, and did not understand what he was saying at the moment it didn’t matter. I was glad someone was here to help me I hoped. “No, she belongs to me,” Oliver growled.

He looked at me, and then Oliver, “She bears no mark.” He challenged.

“Not yet.” Oliver snapped. “If you don’t want to die, I’d suggest you let her go, and we can settle this our way.” He said as one other joined him, I knew him it was Ryan. Now I was really confused as to why this was happening. Either I was in a dream or I was missing something entirely.

“How about we finish with the girl, and then we’ll settle our way. She smells so sweet, I’d hate to use all my energy on you, and not be able to have my way with her too.” He said looking at me.

Oliver’s eyes turned black and he lunged at the first guy, I stumbled onto my butt, the other two lunged at them. That gave me enough time to run away. I didn’t even bother looking back, I could hear growls and ripping and other things, I wasn’t sure what was happening, I didn’t even bother to look back I just kept running. I was able to stumble my way home in a few minutes.

Rushing to my door, I slammed it shut, fumbling with the locks, I slid down the door. Tears bursts from my eyes, I almost was sexually assaulted tonight, had Oliver and Ryan not been there tonight, I wasn’t sure I would have been alive tonight.

Mouse jumped into my lap, purring trying to calm me down, I wanted to pass out, but I was thankful that didn’t happen. I just hoped Oliver was okay, those guys were some big men, Oliver was a big guy too, but three versus two was pretty tight odds.

I stopped crying after about an hour, I grabbed my wine and drank from the bottle, I wasn’t even sure I could leave my apartment after what happened tonight. I wasn’t even sure why I was still drinking, it was a dumb idea but I was in shock.

A knock at the door startled me, I wasn’t sure if I could answer it. I slowly crept to the door, and looked into the peephole, Oliver stood there shirtless.

I quickly opened the door. “You’re okay!” I said wanting to hug him, but was scared to. He had blood and a few cuts on him.

“Yeah, they were pussies.” He laughed. “I just wanted to make sure you made it home okay. I am sorry you got caught in a situation like that.” He said with a sad face. “What were you doing out in the dark alone, tipsy?”

“It was my fault. I was being stupid.” I said with a sad face. “Do you want to come in?”

“No it’s late, and you should get to bed, I could tell you’ve had more wine.” He smiled. “I have an early meeting, hopefully, I’ll see you around.” He smiled before leaving me there. I watched him disappear in the darkness, I wondered if Ryan was with him or why he didn’t go up to Ryan’s apartment, I thought about going upstairs to see if I could figure out which apartment was his, but then again it was early and a stupid idea.

I was sad that he didn’t want to come in and talk a little, but then again I was a little relieved too, because of the whole thing with the Detective threatening me and my store. I was afraid he was serious about what he was going to do if I was caught with them.

Pulling out the notice on the door to my store, I remember they were going to raid my store, I was hoping they weren’t going to do anything crazy, I hated that they were even going to come and cause a scene at the store, but there was nothing I could do about it, so I would have to get up. It was already past three in the morning, and I opened at seven.

I decided to eat something and lay on the couch and try and sleep there, getting in my bed didn’t seem like a good idea at least at the moment. I didn’t want to eat either, but I knew it would help me sober up and not have a bad headache in the morning, at least I hoped I wasn’t hungover.
