Chapter 121
Oliver’s POV
Finding out Soma woke up, part of me didn’t want to believe it because when I left her a little while ago, she didn’t seem like she wanted to wake up. I ran as fast as I could up the stairs, she was standing there with the two warriors I assigned to guard my door. My heart went into my throat, was I seeing a ghost? Was she really there? Am I going crazy? All those questions went through my head, but as soon as I touched her everything made sense, and she was awake! Remembering when she first woke up was a fresh reminder that the Moon Goddess was good and she was looking out for us, she loved me and I shouldn’t have doubted it.
Watching her eat was funny, it’s like she forgot how to eat or she was overly hungry and wanting to eat as much as she could before someone took her plate away. I knew she was battling the demons inside her and there was nothing I couldn’t do about it. I was a little sad that she wanted to close her store, but I knew it was for the best. She needed to get away from the city, and I wanted her close in case something happened.
We were warned that danger was coming, we didn’t know when or who it was going to be. I didn’t care, I would make sure they knew they were making a bad decision before I cut them down to nothing. I wasn’t afraid anymore of taking someone’s life, especially when it comes to Soma.
I knew the situation with Nick bothered her, I didn’t want her worry about me kicking him out or forcing him to reject his mate. I didn’t want anything like that. I didn’t know how things were going to go with Nick. But just the fact that Emily’s father is still pushing for her to reject him, I wasn’t sure he was going to be safe unless I kicked her parents out of the pack. They never brought anything to the pack but pain and suffering. I should have kicked them out a while back, but I’ve always liked Emily and her sister they were the only reasons the family was still in the pack.
“What are you thinking about?” Soma asked touching my hand bringing me out of my mind.
“Nothing really, I am just tired and I am sure you are too.” I said chewing my food. “After this do you mind if we go upstairs and cuddle?”
“Yeah, we can go upstairs, I don’t mind relaxing for a while. Today was a long day and I am ready for tomorrow.”
“So, you want to do the store tomorrow?” I asked.
“The sooner the better I think.” She spoke. I could tell her decision wasn’t the one she wanted to make; it was like she was trying to do it for me. I didn’t want her to close her store if she wanted to keep it open. She was right across the street from the coffee shop so if something happened, I knew we would be able to stop it.
When we arrive at the store tomorrow, I would ask her again, maybe she just needs to sleep on it a little before she makes this decision. I didn’t want her to regret anything else because of her fear of being messed with. I would even bring up that we could hire some guards to be employees so that she felt safer there. I didn’t think anyone was going to mess with her, at least no vampire.
“Are you sure this is something you want to make a decision on?” I asked as we walked into the kitchen to do our dishes.
“Yeah, I mean I don’t know why I should keep going about a dream that I had when I was single. I have a life here now, and I have you. I don’t need a store to fill something that wasn’t doing the job anyways. It was fun while it lasted, but I think I can find something better to do with my time.”
“Fine, but I am going to ask you the same question tomorrow, I don’t want this decision to be a light one. You put a lot of work and stuff into your store I don’t want you to regret anything because you feel it’s going to be a burden.”
“I know.” She smiled.
“Dishes are done.” I giggled. “So, let’s go upstairs and enjoy ourselves, yes?” I said picking her up.
“Yes, I am tired.” She complained she was tired.
“So, love what do you want to watch? Horror, action, love?” I mused.
“I don’t know, you pick whatever you want.” she said yawning again. “I just want to snuggle and fall asleep in your arms.”
“Alright let’s do some action.” I gave her an evil grin. I knew making love to her would help us both. She was stressing over this store and I was stressing because I know she was making this decision because she felt it was going to be a burden to us. I wanted her to keep the store if that is what is going to make her happy.
“Really? And I thought you were tired?” she giggled.
“I am, but not for you.” I said throwing my boxers aside and climbing into bed with her. “I will torture your body with pleasure to ensure you get a good night’s sleep.” I said as my hands wandered up her shirt.
We made love most of the night, when dawn came around my body relaxed enough to sleep. I knew it was going to be a long day but we needed to go to her store and figure out what she wanted to do. While she slept a little, I wanted to go downstairs and talk to Micah a little bit. I wanted to know what he thought about this and if there was some way, we could ease her mind and let her keep her store for a while at least.
“Micah.” I mind linked. “Meet me in my office.”
“Alright.” He answered back.
I grabbed some clothes and took a quick shower and then headed to my office. I wasn’t sure how I would explain what I wanted to do for Soma, but we had to make sure it was done right. So, she could at least see we’re not thinking her store was a burden at all.
“What’s going on?” Micah asked walking into the office just as I arrived.
“I don’t know if Soma wants to shut down her store for the right reasons.” I said running my hands through my hair. “I feel like she is just doing this because she thinks it’s going to be a burden to us to have to watch her store too.”
“Well, the only way we can do this, is to keep the store open and see if she can handle running it again. I know you said she did good but with all the trauma that happened I don’t want her having to a freak out in the middle of dealing with customers.”
“I don’t think it’s going to be like that, but I don’t know.” I said shrugging my shoulders. “I know she can handle the stress, and we are going to send some people over to help her so she isn’t the only one working at the store. That way if something does happen it will be unlikely to go anywhere because of the witnesses.”
“If someone wants to hurt her, they are going to do it in front of everyone, people in our world don’t care about anything but getting what they want.”
He had a point there; I don’t know what to do. I could send the best warriors with her, but then if something happens on our lands we are going to be delayed and I wasn’t sure Soma would like the idea of something happening and she would probably blame herself.
“Well, the best bet we can do is go to the store and see if she still feels that way about it, and if she wants to keep the store open and running, I think we should do it.” Micah said clearing his throat. “I don’t think we should run into this without a plan.”
“I guess that is what we’re going to have to do.” I admitted, I didn’t like the plan. I didn’t want her changing her plans if that is what she wanted, but part of me knows she is going to regret closing her tea shop and I didn’t want her hating me for it. I knew giving her the option to open the store on pack lands was a good idea but it seemed like she was hurt by the idea. I should have known it was a bad idea to open it on pack lands.
“I need to go to the coffee shop when are you two coming?”
“In a few hours, I kind of kept her up all night trying to relax her to go to sleep.” I smiled. “It was a good night don’t get me wrong, but I don’t know how much of a grouch she is going to be if I wake her up right now.”
“Hey as long as you have to deal with her, and not me I don’t care.” He laughed. “Call me when you are on your way so I could be ready to come and help you.”
“Alright drive safe.” I smiled before leaving the office and heading back to my room. I wanted to snuggle a little more, but I knew sex was out of the question for now anyways.
