Chapter 105
Nick’s POV
I had never read up on Seff and what she could do, but when I watched how she reacted to the Vampire King's bite, I thought she was going to go crazy. She killed almost everyone in the room except a few of us. I managed to dodge her claws, she was out of it and I knew this wasn't how she was supposed to be. I wanted to know if there was something I could do to help her, but I wasn't entirely sure she could come back from the darkness that she was facing. I felt powerless to help my friend, and now that her wolf was out it was a little worse than I thought.
Watching her fight all the vampires and few Lycans that came in to help everyone else. I wasn't sure where I should stand, I knew I didn’t want to die and I knew Seff was unstable because of what the vampire King did to her, but I also knew she wouldn't hurt me on purpose.
I watched how everything went down and how Oliver was overly protective of Soma, that is what I wanted for her. I wanted her to find someone that would love and care for her. I didn’t want to have to worry about her for the rest of her life and now she had a mate.
“So I guess I have some explaining to do?” Marcus said. “Look everything I did to you and your friend was just to make things seem real.”
“I still don’t understand, I don’t know if I could forgive you for what you did to us,” I said looking at him. “You could have told us what was going on and things would have been different. We would have been more willing to do things for you.”
“You hear what you’re saying? Even your false King would have figured things out and probably had you killed,” he said rolling his eyes. “I know things aren't going to be the same with us I hope.”
“I don’t know as long as you stay away from Soma and myself, I think you’ll be fine,” I said looking back at Soma. Oliver was still talking to Nathaniel which was a good thing. I wanted them to get along since it was his daughter and Oliver’s mate. They needed to find some kind of common ground so that Soma could have both in her life.
“Well I have to stay here and maintain my Clan, but I would love to come and hang out and try and get a relationship with everyone. Especially Soma and her mate seeing that they are going to need help when people come after her.”
“I don’t think you have to worry about that too much, I am sure his pack is going to be able to stop things from happening and if they need me I will be there too.” I smiled. I knew he was trying to make things right but it was hard to get past that he tried to hurt us. He tried to take me whether it was just to bring me here so I could help control Soma or save her. It didn’t matter at least he was on our side. “Look I guess we can make things happen, but we’re going to leave it up to Soma because you messed with her life more than anyone else.”
“Good when she is better I will get permission from Oliver to come and visit, but I promise things will be different because I am not returning to New York, I cannot wait to start fresh with my Clan I just hope they understood how things went down.”
“Well if you need some help, I can help you with the explanation.”
“Thanks, Nick, but I can handle this, I hope to see you around,” he said before excusing himself away from me.
It was a little weird to hear from Marcus, had I had any idea he was the right vampire King I would have reacted differently and let him do the things he needed to do to make sure Soma was safe. I still didn’t trust him as much as I wanted to, it was hard to.
I wanted to hear what Oliver and Nathaniel were talking about, but then again I wanted to see Soma. She was so strong throughout all of this, it breaks my heart that she might have lost her wolf. She didn’t even get a chance to meet her and talk to her.
Walking over to Soma, I kneeled and touched her face. She was warm which meant she was still alive, I wanted to pick her up and take her home but I knew I had to wait until Oliver and Nathaniel were done with their chat.
Looking over at Mary, Nathaniel's mate she was unconscious too. I wasn't sure if she was attacked by anyone or if she just fainted because of the trauma she went through. I felt bad that she was locked in the dungeon, I didn’t even know she was there until they mentioned her. It was weird how everything went down and we didn’t know things were happening. I hated King Gideon and was glad he was dead, I didn’t think Oliver would have killed him the way he did but it was a good thing he made his death swift.
“Don't worry Some you are safe, please come back to us,” I said touching her face. I felt her heartbeat it was racing. I wasn't sure if it was because of the vampire venom or if there was something else going on. I wanted to meet Seff but I knew that wouldn't happen now, I was sad. I wanted Soma to be able to shift and be a normal Lycan.
I wanted to tell her all about herself when we first met, but I was warned not to say anything. I do regret keeping things from her, she should have been told everything. Her parents should have found her and told her everything. Now that they didn’t, she is facing life alone. She was raised as a human and now she doesn’t even know where she belongs.
“So why don’t you follow me to your room, you need to rest as well as my daughter,” Nathaniel said. “I need to get my mate as well, we will talk more about this in the morning.”
I took that as my queue to follow them to a room, I knew where my room was. But I wanted to make sure I knew where Soma and Oliver were staying so I could stop and chat with Oliver before tomorrow. I wanted him to know I was still with him and I wanted to go with him when he goes back to New York. My time here in London was over, now that Nathaniel was King again I felt like the Kingdom was safe again and he wouldn't need me here. I wanted to be around my best friend to help her adjust to her new life. I wanted to learn more about the werewolves and their customs. Everything I’ve ever been taught was a lie and that was a sad thing. I wonder if they were taught the same thing about us, I wanted to ask Oliver all kinds of questions.
I knew he was going to be focused on Soma, but there would be a time he needed a break and that would be when I sat down and talked to him. I just hope he is okay with everything, I was still worried about him rejecting Soma because she doesn’t have her wolf anymore. Part of me wished Seff was still around, but I knew what happened was too dangerous for anyone.
Waiting for them to get their mates, I followed quietly behind them. Nathaniel took Oliver and Soma to the closest room near the kitchen, it was her first room. I hoped when she woke up, she wouldn't freak out about where she was. I hope she would remember everything and know that King Gideon was dead and she was back with her mate.
“You’ll stay here,” Nathaniel said. “It’s closest to the kitchen so if you go through that door you can get whatever you want, I’ll make sure there is someone always in the kitchen so you get fed.”
“Thanks, King Nathaniel,” Oliver said before disappearing into the room.
“So Nick, I want you close to them too in case Soma wakes up and freaks out. She knows you the best and I want you here,” he said looking at me. “I want you to stay close to my daughter so when they leave you are to go with them. I will fund your apartment unless you want to stay on their lands,” he said looking at me.
“Thank you,” I said bowing to him. “It’s good to see you are back to your old self, I hope everything works out for us.” I half-smiled.
“Everything will be fine,” Mary said. “She will regain her wolf once she is marked and mated with her mate,” she said looking at me. “I promise.”
“Thanks, Queen Mary,” I said before Nathaniel left me, I found my room.
