Chapter 22

Oliver’s POV

I watched Soma’s store, she was usually early, but it was already two hours past the time she usually opens. Something wasn't right, Drew was going crazy in my head, I couldn’t jump to a conclusion until I knew for sure something happened to her. Drew knew something happened, but he couldn’t tell me what it was, and it was driving me insane.

Finally have two hours Soma’s friend opened her store, but she didn’t follow him. I wanted to go over there and find out what was going on. Maybe I was jumping to a conclusion but something still wasn't right. I decided to head over to the store, opening the door it was still semi-dark. I didn’t realize Micah came in behind me, it was good he was there, just in case something happens.

“Where’s Soma?” I asked looking around, Drew was going crazy he didn’t like this man and I wasn't sure why.

He looked up, “Wolf.” He gritted through his teeth. “Soma isn't around at the moment.”

“Who the hell are you?” Micah growled.

“I am a friend, I am waiting for my friends to come and help me find her,” he said looking down behind the register.

“What the hell do you mean to find her?” I growled.

“Don't worry about it, what can I do for you?” he said getting impatient.

“Tell me what the fuck is going on,” I growled. “She is my world, and if something has happened to her I will make everyone pay.”

“Look it's none of your business wolf!” He growled back.

“I’m her fucking mate!” I growled throwing him into a wall, but he landed on his feet without any problems.

“She doesn’t have a mate.” he countered. “Now if you don’t want to die, I’d suggest you leave!”

“Die?” I laughed. “You aren’t human that is for sure, and you’re not a vampire so what the fuck are you?”

“I am Lycan you fucking mutt,” he growled at me. “I was sent here to protect Soma from everyone including you. Don’t make me kill you.”

“Wait!” Micah said. “Oliver, he can get a meeting with the Lycan King.”

“So you’re Oliver?” he quizzed. “I’ve been warned about you. Something along with the lies from the King himself to kill you.” he smiled when I flinched. “So if you value your life, get the hell away.”

“Look I don’t know why the Lycan King wants us away from her,” Micah spoke. “But Oliver is her mate, and there isn't anyone keeping her from him.”

“Does she know?” he quizzed.

“No,” I said hanging my head. “I’ve only found out about her and what she is. Does she know?”

“No,” he said shaking his head. “It’s a long story, and honestly I don’t have time or the energy to explain things to you. I need to get in touch with my people so we can get a search team together.”

“We’ll help,” I said. “Please.”

“Fine,” he said rolling his eyes. “But if you step on my toes or get in my way, I will kill you mutt,” he warned.

“You really should warm up to me,” I said rolling my eyes. “I’m going to be around a lot more once Soma accepts me as her mate.”

“If.” he snapped. “Please let me work, where can I find you?”

“Across the street,” I said.

“Oh so you’re the date that she was supposed to have tonight, nice she has good tastes. I will come and find you when I have a plan in place.”

I nodded and left the store, Micah followed me outside.

“So what’s the plan?” he asked.

“Detective Marks has her I’m sure,” I said gritting my teeth, Drew was worse. He was trying to push to the surface but I managed to control him. “Get warriors in the woods, we need to find her before Marks uses her to start a bigger war, something I knew would come if the vampires had something to take to the Lycan King.”

“Already on it Alpha.” he smiled at me as we walked back to the shop. I was pissed, I wanted to be out in the woods. “You’re going to have to manage the shop, I’m going to look for her too.”

“But what if you find her and she thinks you part of Detective Marks plans?”

“I’ll have to convince her that we’re not a part of him, and we want to keep her safe.” I snapped. “I need to do this otherwise Drew is going to kill someone.”

“Fine but if you find her to let someone else handle her, she is probably scared and hurt and I don’t want you taking her back to the packhouse, it wouldn't be good for her. Not yet at least,” he said leaving me at the door.

Running into the woods, I stripped off my clothes and let Drew take over, he shifted the fastest I’ve seen him.

“Drew, we have to find Soma, but one of the warriors has to take her, we cannot,” I said.

“No! I take mate!” he growled.

“No she isn't ready to be our mate yet, and we have to be careful not to scare her even more. We don’t even know what Marks has done to her.”

“We mark her and she is ours, that way the vampire cannot do anything to her anymore,” he growled.

“Yeah, and the Lycan King will order us dead,” I said rolling my eyes.

“I’ll kill the Lycan King.”

I wanted to laugh, but I knew that would just set him off worse. He ran through the woods, I could feel his stress level was rising for every minute he ran. He wasn't sure where to go, neither was I. I knew Marks had her somewhere close but wasn't sure where to look.

“I’ve found a cabin.” one of the warriors named Duncan linked. “I smell someone inside.”

“Where?” I snapped.

“Up the mountain range.”

“I’ll be there in a few minutes.” I linked back.

It didn’t take long for us to get there, it was a small cabin in the middle of nowhere. I wasn't sure what to expect when we go in there, I could tell she was alive and was hurt. This was pissing me off to the end of time, but I had to keep it together.

“It’s Soma,” I said to the warrior. “You need to take her to the hospital, don’t tell her anything about us, and ensure she gets there safe,” I said looking back at the cabin. “Derek should be here in a few minutes with a car, please make sure she is safe and Marks doesn’t show his face.”

“Yes Alpha,” he said bowing before going up the stairs. He opened the door before looking back at me. “She’s alone,” he said before disappearing into the cabin.

“Go to mate!” Drew growled trying to push forward.

“No, I don’t want her thinking we are a part of this,” I said holding myself, it took everything I had not to go in there and pick her up and take her myself.

Duncan had Soma in his arms, I took a step towards her but then stopped myself. I watch him put her into the car and then nod at me before disappearing from me. I took a deep breath and looked around hoping Marks showed his ugly face, I wanted to kill him.

“Come on Alpha we better head back to the store,” Derek said.

“Yeah,” I said shifting and running back to where I’d taken my clothes off, part of me was happy she was safe, but I still wanted to mark her to make sure Marks knew he couldn’t do anything to her, but I knew that was being selfish, at least for now.

“So?” Micah said meeting me on the sidewalk.

“She’s safe, Duncan is with her at the hospital, she’s hurt but she’s alive,” I said walking back to the office. “I am going to make that vampire suffer.”

“I think everyone wants that to happen, but we have to be careful in case the Lycan King is coming. We don’t want to be in his way, especially with the last time Werewolves and Lycans fought. It was a bad battle and we lost more than they did.”

“I know I remember the stories, it was a bloodbath and the Lycans have hated us ever since then. I want to change things, I need to show the Lycan King I will take care of one of their own, we need to the alliance.”

“I think that would be a good thing, but first you need to talk to Soma and get things sorted with her. She will be able to help you convince the Lycan King.”

“She doesn’t even know what she is, she is probably freaking out if Marks let anything slip,” I growled rolling my eyes. Sometimes I wonder if Micah is listening to anything he is saying, she isn't a person that has been around us all her life. She was sheltered, and I wanted to find out why.
