Chapter 48
Soma’s POV
With Oliver leaving me, my anxiety went back up but I tried not to let it get the best of me. I put my clothes away and set up Mouse where he would be comfortable. He instantly explored the room which meant he wasn't minding the new room.
I walked out to the balcony, the pack lands were nice and quiet. There were a lot of people around, but they didn’t pay attention to me which was fine. I wanted to explore but Oliver told me to stay close to the house, there had to be a reason. Or maybe he didn’t want me to get lost, which if he knew his lands he would probably be able to find me without much effort.
A knock at the door startled me, I wasn't sure who was there but it had to be one of Oliver’s people. I slowly opened the door a small girl was standing there with a bowl of soup and a drink.
“Alpha Oliver asked me to bring you something to eat.” she smiled but didn’t lookup. “May I come in?”
“Oh yeah,” I said moving out of the way. At least I knew Oliver was thinking about me, or he knew I would be hungry right about now.
“Luna where would you like me to put your food?” she questioned.
“On the table is fine,” I said as I watched her walk over to the table and put the food down. “Enjoy and if you need anything I am right in the kitchen,” she said bowing her head before she left.
I closed the door and walked over to the food. My stomach was growling almost to the point where it would be painful to eat.
I managed to eat slowly and all of the food. I felt a little better now that I had something to eat. Grabbing the tray I headed to the kitchen, I didn’t want to hang out alone all day even though I didn’t know anyone here, I might as well make myself known and become friends since I wanted to call this my home.
“Luna!” the same girl that brought me the food was there.
“Please I don’t know what that means, please call me Soma.” I half-smiled. “What is your name?”
“I am Marie,” she said bowing her head. “It’s nice to meet you, Luna Soma.”
“Please Soma only.” I smiled as I sat down at the table.
“I am so glad you are here,” she said joining me at the table. “Alpha Oliver has been alone for so long, we were beginning to wonder if he would ever find you. And look he found you,” she said excitedly.
“I am still new at all of this,” I admit. “But I am learning as we go I guess.”
“So when will you become Luna?” she questioned.
“Luna, I uh I don’t know.” I shrugged.
I was still getting used to the werewolf lingo, I wasn't even sure what a Luna was, but it seemed important to his people. I will have to ask Oliver about it, but honestly, I am not sure we’re there yet. Maybe still learning what I can say and not say but he seems relaxed when I’m around.
“I hope soon, it would be nice for a woman to help him run the pack. He’s been stressed and hasn't been himself, and we’re hoping you can help.” she smiled.
I wasn't sure what she was trying to tell me, but I’m glad I make Oliver happy. I want to be someone that does that, and I want the same. I do feel something strong for Oliver, but I wasn't sure if it calls for marriage.
I just smiled. I didn’t know what to say. Part of me wanted to run into my room and stay there, and when Oliver came back I would go home with my tail between my legs. I would be this scared girl and no one wanted that. I frowned at myself, smiled at Marie, and then got up.
“I’ll see you around dinner?” she asked before I was far enough away.
“Yeah, hopefully, Oliver will be back by then,” I said turning to her. “See you later,” I said before running up the stairs.
I felt bad that I wasn't friendly, but she was pressing on this Luna thing and I didn’t know anything about it. I needed to know if Oliver was going to force me to marry him or something. I was a little worried about everything, I wasn't sure how to question this without it sounding like I was whining or something. I frowned at myself, I needed to be honest, this whole thing seemed like a big fairy tale and I was going to be the one left behind.
It didn’t take long for Oliver to come home. He looked like he was a little worried about how I was feeling. “Everything okay?”
“Yeah, why?” I half-smiled. I knew they told him about what happened this afternoon, I felt stupid the way I acted but I wasn't sure where I fit in.
“Want to talk about this afternoon?” he questioned coming closer to me.
“I well I acted stupidly,” I admitted. “But I was just confused by this whole Luna thing. Are you going to force me into something?” I asked.
“What being Luna?” he asked taking a step closer to me. “I would like you to be Luna yes, but I am not going to force anything on you. I asked people not to mention it because we haven't had a chance to talk about it, and of course people don’t listen and this happens.”
“What exactly is a Luna?” I asked still a little worried about how this is going to end up.
“My equal, a wife. Someone that will help lead the people to ensure we run correctly.” he laughed. “But you are more mine than the packs, so I get extra time with you,” he said clearing his throat. “That is when we get there if we get there.” he smiled out of nervousness.
“See and I thought it was something far sexier than that.” I giggled. “But no I feel bad the way I acted this morning, everything with Marks and the threats I think it got the best of me.” I sighed.
“Well, there is plenty of time to go over this and figure it out. But right now I think we’re late for dinner, and everyone is whining to hang out,” he said kissing my forehead. “Don't worry everything is taken care of, and you don’t have to worry. People won’t call you Luna unless I say it is okay, they understand now why I asked them not to call you that,” he said getting up. “Come let’s go and eat dinner and maybe we can watch a movie and go to bed after?”
“Yeah, I think bed sounds nice,” I said with a yawn. “But how was work?”
“Good, I am less stressed now that I am home.” he smiled down at me. “Besides I didn’t want you locking yourself in your room all day but that didn’t work out the way I wanted it to.”
We sat down with everyone else, they bowed and were silent until Oliver said to eat. I ate and watched and listened to how everyone was. They seemed laid back and happy, and I didn’t get any weird vibes from them. I felt like they were already family even if I haven't accepted I will help Oliver run this place one day at least.
I was scared, but then I was happy all in the same. Oliver couldn’t take his eyes off of me, it was like I healed some kind of sickness he had, everyone seemed to like him much better. I didn’t feel the fear from the people like I did before, it was something strange.
“Do you want to go for a walk?” Oliver asked leaning towards me. “We won’t be out late.” he winked at me.
“Yeah, I would love to,” I said standing up.
Oliver grabbed his coat, and he had someone bring me an oversized coat. “Um this might be too big but we will need to do some shopping.”
“Yep I’ll have someone help you with shopping,” he said. “But tonight you get to wear this thing.” he laughed.
“I’m going to make you carry me.” I playfully threatened.
“But then my trap would work in my favor.” he giggled back.
“You two sound like you’re married already.” Micah laughed.
“Soma do you remember Micah?” he asked.
“At the coffee shop, we have a brief encounter,” I questioned.
“Kind of, but I am his younger brother Micah, it’s nice to meet you.” he bowed. “Rogue attacks again.”
“Again?” Oliver sighed. “So I guess that stops us from having that walk.” Oliver was sad. But I knew he had business to attend to, I understood.
“Don't worry.” I sighed. “There are plenty of other nights I’m sure.” I smiled. “Well, I’m going to take a bubble bath,” I said pulling away from Oliver.
“Why don’t you take Oliver with you, I am sure a soak with you will do a man good.” Micah joked.
“Micah,” Oliver growled, was the last thing I heard before closing the door.
