Chapter 104

Nathaniel’s POV

Watching things go down was crazy, I didn’t know Seff was going to be like this. I did know she was an ancient being but I didn’t know she could be consumed by darkness from a simple vampire bite. I didn’t get to talk to my mate before she disappeared and now that she was in front of me I knew there was something I had to do. I knew I had to shut Seff down again before she got our daughter killed. I wasn't sure if Seff knew what she was doing or if she was out of control. I couldn’t chance it.

When she went for Soma’s mate I had to stop her, I lunged at her before she connected with Oliver. I was afraid to bite her as I have read it was a bad thing. Closing my eyes I knew it was either her or me and I didn’t care about myself anymore.

Forcing her to the ground I was able to get on top of her, she was stronger than I was but I still managed to have the upper hand. I felt everyone was unsafe, but I knew this was the only way we could do this. Until we knew if there was another way to control Seff, Soma would have to deal without a wolf.

“Nathaniel you have to bite her.” my mate called out to me. “That is the only way we can ensure Soma doesn’t die.”

Looking down at the struggling Lycan, I knew she was right. It seemed like the same thing we had to do when she was a baby, the only difference is we weren’t sure it was going to work.

“Are you sure it’s going to work?” I snapped through the mind link since I couldn’t speak, but not mean to get upset, but it was really hard not to.

“We don’t know,” she said out of breath, I could tell she was weak and probably starving. I knew I had to make it up to my mate, I didn’t know what happened to her when she disappeared. I thought she would rejoin her coven because it wasn't safe for us to be together anymore. She rejected me and it hurt, I think that is why Gideon was able to do what he did and took my crown from me.

I knew I was the King again, and I knew the people would be looking for answers, I am sure there was talk about Seff being here, but I didn’t want to get people’s hopes up and tell them she was here when in reality she was disappearing again.

“Do it now Nathaniel before the darkness takes our baby away from us for good!” she whined at me.

Looking down one last time, Seff tossed me off of her and lunged at me. She tried to get to my neck, I knew she knew how to kill us so I had to be quick. I tossed her off me, and she was on me again, but I managed to turn her around and force her back to the ground.

Looking at Oliver, he was scared but he knew I had to do this. I closed my eyes and bit down on her neck, Seff screamed out in pain and it hurt my heart. I knew she would be fine, but I wasn't sure about Soma. I was afraid I was going to lose the only daughter I had even though I hadn't been in her life I would try and make it right now that she knows what she is and what happened.

I knew there were a lot of questions she would have if she wanted anything to do with us, I hoped we could make things right and everything would be okay. When I felt Seff stop struggling I let go of her, I was afraid.

“Is she?” my mate cried, she tried to get to me but she was far too weak.

“It seems like she is,” I said looking down at Soma. I wanted to shake her and wake her up, but I knew everything that had just happened was a lot of trauma and she would need time to recover. I wasn't sure how Oliver was taking everything, I didn’t have time to ask right now. I didn’t realize my tongue was restored, it surprised the hell out of everyone.

“Welcome back King Nathaniel.” Marks spoke up clearing everyone away from us.

“Do I know you?” I asked confused, he looked like the old King of the vampires, but I heard he was killed by this vampire.

“Yes actually,” he said removing a wig. “I am Marcus,” he said bowing his head.

“I, I thought you were killed?” I said standing up to shake his hand. “Have you been a part of this, this entire time?”

“I am as a newborn vampire, apparently our fallen King was also an airhead and didn’t realize it was me.”

I noticed Oliver was growing his claws, I wasn't sure who he was going to attack, but I knew I had to calm the situation down. Marcus was a long-time friend of mine and he was keeping me posted on my daughter, but I didn’t know what he had to do to her to get their false King to believe he was someone he could trust.

“Calm down Alpha Oliver!” I growled bringing his attention back to me. “Whatever he had to do to Soma it was to prevent her from getting killed.”

“I beg to be different.” he snapped. “He kidnapped her and practically made her blind for a short time. He deserves to die whether or not he is your friend.” Drew growled.

“Now, now Drew I know all about you, you and your reputation don’t make things okay. If you want Soma to accept you and love you then you will listen to me. Marcus has been at this a long time, and he had to protect my daughter. I am the one that gave him the blinding weed it wasn't long she had no vision, but I know how this looks.”

“Why did you abandon her?” he growled at me, I could tell he was going to hurt someone.

“I had to make sure she was safe, she wasn't safe here. People were going to come after her, and we have to ensure Seff doesn’t get summoned again.” I said lowering my voice. “But now that she has you as a mate, you have to take care of her.”

“But if she doesn’t have a wolf-”

“What are you going to reject her?” I asked interrupting his thoughts. I didn’t want to hear he was going to reject her, I thought he loved her. I could tell he loved her, I just wasn't sure where his mind was now that we were in front of each other.

“No!” he snapped. “I am not going to reject her, but I don’t want vampires coming around making her life worse,” he said looking at Marcus. “He’s done a lot to make sure she hated living in New York, I even think she was planning on leaving because of him.”

“I am sorry for that,” Marcus said sighing. “I was trying to keep up with all the crap that this scum wanted me to do, I will make things right with Soma if she wakes up.”

“She’s going to wake up!” Oliver growled. “And if she doesn’t I will kill every single vampire I can and make sure your kind knows what you’ve done to my mate.”

“I promise she’ll wake up,” I said trying to calm him down, but I knew it was pointless. She would have to wake up and he would have to see she was fine. I knew she was going to have a lot to talk about, I just hope we can clear everything up and she’ll not hate us.

“Why don’t we go to a room so you can clean up and she can rest,” I said looking down at Soma. I could tell she was still alive which was a good sign. It didn’t look like Seff was alive anymore which was good in a way, but bad too. She was sent by the Moon Goddess, and there was nothing we could do about her now. “Let me get my mate, and you can follow us. We will talk more in the morning, thankfully this is all over.” I said moving away from Soma so Oliver could pick her up.

When he went to pick her up, I walked over to my mate. I knew we had a lot to talk about, I still wanted to know how my tongue repaired itself. I figured it could have been Seff doing it at the last second before she died, I wasn't sure though.

“Hi,” I said kneeling in front of my mate, I broke the chains from her. She didn’t look very well, but that was expected. “Come on I will take care of you once I have Soma and her mate back in their room. We have a lot to talk about.”

“Yes we do,” she said as I picked her up.
