Chapter 70

Nathaniel’s POV

Wanting to get a glimpse of my daughter, I knew she was around. I wasn't sure how I was going to get in touch with her to talk to her. When Gideon told me she was here, my heart hurt. I knew I had failed her, her mother and I thought putting her in the human world would do good for her, but now that I look back on our choice we were dumb for doing it.

“So King Gideon wants me to show you where you stay,” Nick said coming up to me.

I knew the kid from when he was little, he was a good kid. He was smart and he wanted to honor the crown, I wasn't entirely sure why he was here with King Gideon, but I didn’t have the patience to ask nor did I care.

“So what's your story?” I asked as we walked. “What happened after I was exiled from here?”

“Lots of things,” he said looking at me. “But everyone went into hiding when Gideon took over, he caused a lot of problems and a lot of people to die.”

“So he has done more damage than anything?” I asked.

“Yes, but there is nothing we can do about this, as much as the people hate King Gideon, we cannot do anything to remove him.”

“We cannot but my daughter can, you need to arrange a meeting for her and me, I need to explain everything to her and tell her what is happening. I have Witches coming to my aid, but since I was arrested they haven't heard from me so I need to figure out how to get in touch with them without King Gideon getting word of it.”

“How do we get in touch with witches? I thought they hated our kind since your wife?” he asked.

“They did for a long time, but now they don’t. They want to help, my wife would have wanted it this way. She didn’t want Soma to go through what she did, she wanted Soma to have a fighting chance. Something that we weren’t given, and now she is right here with us fighting alongside even if she doesn’t know it.”

“She doesn’t know much,” he whispered.

“When I told Gideon about her, I didn’t know she was the actual Princess. He became obsessed with her, and that is when I moved her to New York and she found her mate.”

“She has a mate non Lycan? Human?”

“No werewolf, he’s an Alpha. The last time I saw him he scared the shit out of me. I didn’t know what to do, and I panicked. I grabbed Soma and here we are.” he said with a sigh.

“I need to speak with this mate of hers,” I said touching my face.

There had never been a Lycan and Werewolf Alpha and Luna, and having her become Queen here will make everyone get along. There will be some kind of peace treaty that will take place, and we can finally have the life I wanted when I was King.

“I don’t know if you can get out of here without King Gideon knowing where you are, or where you are going,” he said shaking his head. “I don’t think he is going to let anyone go until after she is forced to be his mate.”

“Well we’re going to have to do something, we cannot let this marriage happen. He’s going to force a lot of people to do things they don’t want to do, and Soma isn't going to be one of them.”

“Don't worry Nathaniel she is a strong girl as you noticed at dinner or the dinner that she refused to sit down and eat.”

“She reminds me of her mother, I miss the woman so much. I am worried King Gideon is going to convince her of things, and we’re going to be killed.”

“I know that is something he wants to do. He wants us out of the way and the only way to do that is to kill us.” Nick growled. “I am going to see if I can sneak out of the castle and try and get to New York without Gideon knowing my plans, but he has London pretty tight.”

“I will do what I can to keep King Gideon distracted while you make your way to New York. Are you going to have problems with this mate of hers? I mean how did your relationship before this happen?”

“Well it was good, but he might think I am part of King Gideon and his plans. I might have to go and make things right before he’ll trust me.”

“Well, you need to make sure you do it fast otherwise Gideon will put the fire out before we even get the thing started,” I warned. “I will protect Soma while you are away, and I will do everything in my power to get her attention and try and talk to her too.”

“Well good thing we work well together,” he said smiling. “Look I need to get back to Soma, but here is where you will be staying,” he said pointing to the door. “I will come and find you later on.”

After he walked away, I opened the door. The room was nicer than I thought it would be. It was dark and inviting just the way I liked it. Gideon and I were best friends, we had everything the same. We were the same in a lot of ways, but he changed when he wanted to overthrow me and take Soma as a wife, but when I took Soma away, he had my life killed and then he banished me to the island. So most of my life I have been planning my revenge like I said before we’re a lot alike, he already knows I’m coming for him, I just hope I am successful with his death this time around.

A knock at my door startled me, I didn’t realize I was daydreaming.

“Yeah?” I snapped when I opened the door, it was someone I didn’t know, so I am assuming servant.

“King Gideon wants to talk to you in his office,” he said and walked away.

“Now what, what do you want Gideon?” I growled out loud.

Walking to Gideon’s office, when I turned the corner after going up the stairs, I saw her. I saw Soma, she was walking around with of course an escort.

“Don't.” my Lycan warned me.

“Why I can handle the boy,” I said.

“Because it’s not yet time,” he said before closing me off.

I watched her disappear down the stairs before I took the final steps to Gideon's office, he was pacing near the window when I walked in.

“You summoned me, Gideon?” I snapped.

“It’s King Gideon, you better get used to saying and addressing me especially in the coming days,” he growled at me. “I want your help, we need to prepare for our visitors. I have a feeling he is bringing a lot more than I told him to,” he said sitting down. “So since you know your stuff, you are going to plan this whole thing.”

“And if I refuse?”

“I’ll send Soma to her death after we are married,” he said rolling his eyes. “That way this coop you and Nick are trying to stage, it’s not going to work.” he laughed. “You two really should be careful where you chat about your plans. I know all about Nick going to Oliver, don’t worry I’ll let him go unharmed. He will just be another one that betrayed the crown.”

“You are a fool!” I spat. “The people will overthrow you!”

“I know, but when your daughter is used I will become the true King, whether by marriage or not.” he mused. “So as I said before you better get used to calling me the King because I am,” he said turning his back to me. “I better keep two steps ahead of you. You are acting like you were when we were boys. You taught me, now I am one of the best.”

“So what are you going to do now?” I asked folding my arms across my chest.

“You are going to become Soma’s servant.” he smiled like he was up to something. “You see you betrayed my trust, so now I am going to put you in fates path.”

Before I had time to react, two of his guards grabbed me forcing me to my knees. Gideon walked around the desk, he had a dagger in his head. “You see you are a servant, so therefore the code doesn’t cover you.” he smiled. “So from this day on you will be a mute, a helpless failed King.”

“Careful how much you put into yourself, you’re bound to fail.” I spat at him.

“I want his tongue!” he growled at another guard that came into the room.

I didn’t feel the first few shots to the ribs, but the one to my face hurt like hell. I tried to get up and fight when I felt something hit me hard enough to daze me but not enough to knock me out.

I felt someone get on top of me, I tried fighting them. King Gideon hit me a couple more times with I’m assuming the dagger. In my daze, I didn’t feel the blade cutting my tongue out until it was halfway through. I struggled and cried out before unconsciousness kicked in.
