Chapter 27

Nick’s POV

Seeing Soma the way she was, I didn’t like it. I still wasn't sure what they used on her eyes to make her blind. I needed some help and wasn't sure King Gideon was going to do anything for me, not unless he gets the credit for it. I wondered what he was doing right now, probably feeding his fat face and enjoying not having to worry about being in the war.

I hated having to leave her at the hospital, but I needed to speak to her mate, and that was something I hated to do. He wasn't going to be happy to know he will never be with her. Once King Gideon comes for her, she will be forced into our world and she will be forced to reject him. I hated being the person in between them, but this was how Lycan laws here, there was no room for compromise.

Arriving at Soma’s store, it was dark so Detective Marks didn’t mess with it thankfully. I glanced over at the coffee shop, I could see the silhouette of someone standing near the window, I am assuming it’s Soma’s mate.

Walking across the street, I walked into the coffee shop, the person wasn't standing by the window. I heard two men chatting near the front register, I listened in to what they were talking about.

“We need to meet with the Lycan King that is the only way we can figure out these secrets since you don’t want to straight out ask her.”

“I was going to ask her questions at our date, now I don’t see that happening anytime soon,” Oliver said. “I don’t even know if she is going to trust anyone around her now.”

“She’s not,” I said coming into the office. “She is scared and she doesn’t understand anything about what Detective Marks told her,” he said crossing his arms. I glanced at both of them, Oliver’s brother was twice the size of Oliver.

“Has she gotten her vision back?” Oliver asked.

“No, and the doctors don’t know what was used,” I said looking at Oliver, and then Micah. “The hospital called the police and of course, Detective Marks showed up.”

Oliver growled standing up.

“Calm down he didn’t stay long but he knows she is there,” I said leaning against the wall. “I have my guards there a lot stronger than the blood bag.”

“Why isn't she with other Lycans?” Oliver asked.

“That is a long story, and since you are not a Lycan I cannot tell you,” I spoke again glancing at both of them. I knew I was outnumbered and they could probably force the answers out of me, but I also knew they knew I could get them closer to King Gideon.

“Tell me or I’ll rip your throat out,” Oliver growled, I’m assuming it was his wolf though since his eyes were black and he had a threatening aura. “She is my mate, I will not let anyone take her away from me!”

“Relax wolf, you can find out all of that from the Lycan King, he isn't going to be happy that you are claiming to be the mate of a Princess,” I smirked. “But in time I think he will have to understand where you are coming from. But don’t think for one minute that you will become King.”

“I wouldn't want that,” Oliver growled. “I want my mate to become a pack member and my Luna here.”

“Well that might be a problem, you see Lycan laws are different from yours. We do not live in the city because of the vampires and other supernaturals, and she wouldn't be allowed to stay here.” I said standing up. “I need to get back to the hospital I told her I would check on her shop. Your next move you better make carefully because war is about to blow up this city.” I said before leaving the office.

Driving back to the hospital seemed like it was taking forever. It could be because of the rain and people afraid to go the speed limit, whatever the case if you can’t drive don’t drive. I sighed as it seemed like it would take all night to get there. I wanted to get to Soma before she starts freaking out, I didn’t need another Detective Marks coming around causing more issues. Soma needs to recover from this crap and I needed to ensure she was safe.

Taking the elevator up to her floor, I was greeted by two Lycan friends they promised to guard Soma and make sure she didn’t get hurt.

“You two can go, I’ll call you later,” I said, of course, they bowed and left me standing there. Now the hard part was coming, and I knew she was going to question things, something about the whole situation made her cold towards me.

“Are you ready to go?” I asked coming into the room. “Sorry I had to make an extra stop, and then had to tell my guys to go ahead and go.”

“No worries, and yeah I want to go home,” she said. She looked defeated and that broke me a little.

“Alright let me get a wheelchair,” I said leaving the room again. After she was released, I took her down to her car. My friends were able to retrieve that car when I called King Gideon.

“Did they do anything to my car?” she asked feeling around.

“No, it was on the side of the road, a friend of mine was able to find it and bring it to me when we met up,” I said. “I’m going to take you home, and then I am going to call in some food for us, I know hospital food is shit and you probably didn’t eat.”

“No,” she said turning to the window.

“Who is the Lycan King?” Soma asked.

“His name is Gideon,” I said. “He wants to ensure you are safe, and he knows you are confused about a lot of things.” Now she is going to ask questions and probably hate me, or not believe one word I tell her.

“What is a Lycan?”

“A hybrid Werewolf,” I said glancing at her, I could tell she was nervous, she moved around a lot.

“You mean like in the movies?”

“Yeah something like that, but the movies twist it where it seems like they are not real. The humans don’t know the truth about us.”

“About us?” She questioned.

“Yeah Soma you are half Lycan, your mother was human,” I said trying to sound believable, but her face was telling me she wasn't buying this one bit.

“My mother and father were not these things you speak of if they are even real. I don’t know who put you up to this, was this part of something Detective Marks wants you to do to keep yourself safe?” she was getting upset.

“No Soma this has nothing to do with the vampire.” I pulled the car into the apartment complex, I noticed a couple of men standing nearby, they were werewolves. I figured Oliver sent some guards to help me out, maybe he did it for his benefit, but I appreciated the gesture. “We’re back at your apartment,” I said getting out of the car.

I helped her to the couch, she sat down and the cat jumped in her lap. I left her there for a few minutes so I could get the food ordered. I knew she wasn't going to eat, but I had to make sure she knew I was trying to be her friend. I loved her, but I couldn’t show her that, she thought I was gay so I had to keep playing this role.

“Alright food is ordered,” I said sitting next to her. “Do you want to talk more?”

“I don’t have anything else to say, I don’t believe what you are telling me,” she said crossing her arms. “Even if that was all true which I know it isn't how can werewolves live among humans and not be detected?”

“Soma, you do realize the humans are so distracted by their cell phones, we could walk around them and they wouldn't even know we were different? I mean in our true form, not this form.”

“I still cannot believe what you’re telling me, this is too fiction for me,” she said shaking her head. “I don’t think there is a way you are going to change the way I see things. This is all fake.” She said getting to her feet. “I am going to bed I don’t want to eat anything until you tell me the truth and stop adding sugar to an already overflowing shit box,” she said before stumbling her way to her room.

Sitting on the couch, I wasn't sure what else I could do to make her happy, to make her see that we’re not bad creatures, she needed to know the truth and I wasn't sure how I was going to get her to see it. I knock at the door, food was there, I paid for her and then went into the kitchen to get a plate for Soma and me to eat. She needed to eat, and I needed to be around her.

“Pizza is here,” I said coming into the room.

“Fine I’ll eat, but I don’t want to talk anymore,” she said feeling around. I guided her hand to the plate. “This is going to take a lot to get used to,” she said frowning.

“I’m not going anywhere, so you have me here to help you.”
