Chapter 17
Oliver’s POV
Leaving Soma sitting there made my heart race, I loved her and she didn’t even know it. I wish I wasn't scared and just tell her how I truly feel. Maybe she would feel the same, and we could start slowly and see if she wants to know my secrets, I wondered if she had secrets.
“What’s Matt doing here?” Micah asked.
“Doing me a favor,” I said looking at him. “She lost all her merchandise, I want Matt back on pack lands, and this is a way to help both of them,” I said grabbing a cookie and walking back to the office.
“Good maybe you can get her to come too,” he said leaning against the wall. “That would be the best thing for everyone.”
“In time Micah, we don’t need to rush into anything,” I said taking a deep breath. “Trust me I wish I could just take her and she wouldn't be in this situation, but again we don’t know anything about her.”
“That’s where you come in, you ask her on a date and then you get to know her. Convince her to visit the pack and then lay everything on her, and tell her Marks is a blood demon, and that should scare her enough that she wants to stay with us,” he said finally sitting down.
“Doesn't work that way, we’re not in a movie. I tell her anything remotely like that, she’d close me off and file a restraining order on me, I don’t need anything like that.” I said shaking my head.
Micah was crazy the way he thought, but he made sense. The sooner she knew what she was, and what I was the better. But I needed more information on her, something in her background check might shed some light on her, I don’t know.
“She ran over to her store,” Matt said coming into the office.
“Everything okay?” I asked.
“Yeah, she is going to be buying my product and she wants to do business with me. Thank you for this.” Matt said bowing his head. “Is she your mate Oliver?”
“Yes,” Micah said looking at him and then me. “Oliver is afraid to bring this to her at the moment since we’re not entirely sure what she is.”
“What she is?” Matt questioned. “She’s no wolf, nor human.”
“Yeah, we know,” I said sighing.
“She is half Lycan,” Matt said clearing his throat. “I’ve smelled them before, usually they don’t come to the cities, you really should get to know her,” he said looking at me.
“Lycan?” I questioned. “I would have never guessed.”
“Of course not, how many times have you come across one?” Matt questioned. “The reason I know of them is that well I’m old.” he giggled. “But we’ll finish this later, she is back.”
“Lycan?” Micah questioned. “You do realize what this means?”
“No, what does it mean Micah?” I said rolling my eyes.
“She may understand you more than you give her credit for,” he said leaning against the wall again. “Why don’t you take her on a date and see if she knows anything about herself and if she doesn’t then we’ll go from there.”
“How would this conversation go?” I mused. “Hi, so I know your Lycan guess what I’m a werewolf, we’re mates.”
“Not like that,” Micah said putting his hand to his face. “You are going to have to take it too slow than that, but you at least know what she is.”
“The Lycan King would never allow her to be with a wolf,” I growled. “You know the rules, you know how stubborn that race is.”
“So petition him, and ask to meet with him. That is the only way you will know for sure if he would allow one of his own to leave the Lycans and become us. She would be a Luna, so it’s almost like being royalty anyways. Marks may know what she is too since he’s been around a lot longer than we have, so we should gain her trust.”
“All set then?” I asked stopping in front of her.
“Yes, thank you for showing your kindness and getting me in touch with Matt now I have a local supplier,” she said getting to her feet. “I owe you.”
“Don't worry maybe a date will be enough,” I said winking, not entirely sure what she would say.
Soma blushed, it was the cutest thing I’ve seen today. “We could do something like that, maybe you can show me around?” she said.
“I’d love to, maybe we can do Friday night?” I said picking up one of the boxes. Micah smiled big when he heard my words.
“I’d like that.” she managed to say in between blushing.
Twenty or so minutes later, Soma was ready to take her product to her store. I was happy that she managed to make a deal with Matt, and that hopefully, she would trust me enough to help her. I another box, Matt grabbed one, and Soma managed to carry the last one. We followed her to the store, Micah opened the door for us.
“Thanks,” I said to him before going into the store with them. My heart was racing, I couldn’t believe I managed to score a date with her. I wasn't even sure what kind of food she liked, so I would have to do a little spying to get to know her without talking to her at least for now. Stalking is weird, but I didn’t want to mess this up.
Soma put her box down near the register, Matt followed suit and I was last. Taking a glance around the store, it was nice. She had great taste in the way things were set up, I was pissed that there were a lot of missing pieces.
“So you have any tables or things to set up here?” I asked looking at her.
“I will have to get some more, the police destroyed a lot,” she said with a sad face. “But with Matt and your help, I have my product. Maybe when my best friend comes into town tomorrow, we can go and do some shopping.”
“Oh okay, if you need some help let me know,” I said clearing my throat.
“Thank you.” she smiled.
“We’ll get out of here, I know you have things you need to do. If you need anything else come to the coffee shop, and we’ll figure it out. I will get together with you later this week to set up our date.” I smiled.
“Alright see you later,” she said before we left the store.
“Look at you,” Micah said nudging me. “I thought you’d never ask her.”
“Well I did, now you can get off my case about it. We still need to figure out if we are going to be allowed to see her.”
“It doesn’t matter.” Micah said frowning. “she is your mate, and the Lycan King is just going to have to deal with it.”
“That’s easier said than done Micah,” I growled. “You and I don’t even know the laws with him and the werewolves. He could have us killed, or worse have her killed. We need to know more about her, and where her mother is.”
“Her mother is probably dead,” Matt said getting both of us to stop.
“Why would you think that?”
“Well, Lycan laws humans and Lycans are not allowed to mate. She more or less was probably killed as punishment for her father being Lycan and going against their laws.”
“Great not something I wanted to face,” I said putting my fingers through my hair. “Well, we will see what happens on Friday night and go from there.”
“Fine, but don’t go canceling things,” Micah warned. “It will make you look like a weak mate.”
“I wasn't planning on canceling anything Micah relax.” I snapped.
He was crazy to think I would run from this. She is my mate, and we will figure this out, first thing first I needed to get in touch with the Lycan King. Or at least figure out their laws and go from there, I needed to meet with him. It was important for him to know she was mated with me, and I needed to know more about her as well. I wondered if she knew the Lycan King and anything about their laws.
For some reason I figured she didn’t even know she was part Lycan, she didn’t act like anything other than the respectable person she was. She didn’t seem to have any idea that we’re mates. And if she did, she was hiding it pretty well.
Retreating to my office after Matt and Micah decided to go and get some lunch. My heart was still beating pretty hard, but Drew was a lot calmer now that we secured a date with her. I had to keep him in check so he didn’t do anything crazy, but I knew he wanted to make this special for her.
I would try and spoil her without overdoing it, I knew over the top would probably put the wrong vibe out. So we would get the flowers and maybe a nice bottle of wine since I knew she liked drinking the stuff.
