Chapter 62

Oliver’s POV

Once I was sitting next to Soma, Drew calmed down a little. I knew it was going to be short-lived once this crap started. I glanced at the Lycan King, he wasn't someone I was afraid of, and the way he looked proved that he wasn't anything special. Drew wanted to jump up and break his neck. He debated whether he could get to him before he was stopped.

I looked over at the Lycan King, he had a grin on his face like he’d won something. Let me tell you he didn’t win anything, this wasn't going the way he wants and he was going to die before he pulled my mate away from me. It took me years to find her and now that I found her they arent taking her away. They need to fix their laws and leave us alone. We’ve done nothing to want this attention but here we are.

A man walked into the room, I knew him his name was Alec he was the head of the Council and he was cruel when he wanted to be.

He looked at me and then Soma, and lastly the Lycan King. I wasn't sure if he was trying to decide what to do about this, or if this decision was already made and this was for political reasons only.

“So maybe we should begin,” he said taking his place next to the others. Drew was still at the surface, he wanted to tell Alec that he was making a mistake and that everything would be messed up if he forced us away from each other, but with the way Alec was moving around himself he was pissed, he had to be here too. Maybe he would be on our side and things would turn out alright.

I tried to relax in my seat, but it was impossible. Alec began explaining everything and how things worked. I didn’t want to hear it, but I kept quiet. I needed to see where Alec was and if he was going to rule in our favor. From the looks of it, he didn’t want to have to make a choice and he wished he could leave it up to us to decide.

“So to wrap this up,” Alec said looking at me, and then the Lycan King. “I will give you the floor to convince us of your mate bond,” he said looking at Oliver. “And then the Lycan King will tell me why he wants you back in Lycan Territory, and then the Council will talk and we will decide what we want to do,” he said sitting back down. “Go ahead, Oliver.”

I stood up and looked at Soma and then the Council. “Well firstly I want to stress to everyone here including the Lycan King, she is my Moon Goddess chosen mate and I feel she belongs next to me, she’s already been accepted into the pack, and taking away their Luna will make things worse for a lot of people there,” he said clearing his throat. “We haven't had much time to get to know each other due to Soma not knowing anything about herself or our world.”

“And you think she needs to learn your ways? What about our ways?” The Lycan King spoke up, which was something I wasn't ready for but it didn’t matter.

“What about your ways?” I countered. “She is going to be the Luna of a werewolf pack, she doesn’t need to learn the Lycan ways, we are far in between each other and don’t have much in common so it would be pointless.”

“So you’re saying let’s wipe out her history, it doesn’t matter because she doesn’t need to know where she comes from.” King Gideon stood up. “Now tell your beautiful mate that she doesn’t get to know the struggles of her people because of the werewolves, or better yet let’s not get into the last war we were in where you and your beasts killed many innocent Lycans!” he growled.

“King Gideon please sit down,” Alec warned. “I don’t want a war happening here and you acting the way you are is going to make something happen,” he said standing up. “We allowed you to be here since you are the King of the Lycan’s but I will throw you out.”

“Well, I don’t think it’s fair that he wants to keep her from her world.” King Gideon growled. “If you decide to keep her in the human world, I want her taught about us!”

“Fine,” Alec growled. “Sit down before I get mad.”

King Gideon did what he was told, I smiled when I felt like he wasn't getting his way. I knew there was a chance to lose here, but I had to give it my best. I had to show Soma I was going to fight for her, and this was one of the ways I can do it.

“Fine, we can learn about the Lycans,” I said addressing the court. “But it’s not going to be something we are dead set on doing, she has a lot to learn becoming the Luna and I don’t have time nor patience to teach her things that are not important right now.”

“Important?” King Gideon growled. “Your mate should be important, everything about her should be important. You should want her to know everything about herself, and not leave anything out.”

I didn’t want to keep having to explain myself, Drew was gaining strength and I didn’t need him to react the way he wanted to, “Relax Drew.” I warned. “We cannot allow this monster to try and get us upset, he wants to show the Council that we are unstable and they will take our mate away from us if we’re not careful.”

“Please continue Alpha Stone,” Alec said glancing at Soma. “I know this is a lot for you to take in, and I understand you are not from our world.d we need to figure out what is best for you, and I know you want to be with Oliver, but we don’t know enough about you to warrant you safe among the wolves.”

“But that doesn’t make sense,” Soma spoke softly. “I should be able to make my own choices. I don’t have a Lycan some going there isn't going to be good for me. And then you talking about taking me away from my mate, what kind of crap is that?”

“Well we don’t know why you don’t have your Lycan, it could be sleeping because you were raised to believe you were human, or there was a spell cast on you to prevent your shift.”

Soma didn’t say anything, I wasn't sure if she was trying to understand where they were going with this, it didn’t matter they weren’t going to give her away not without me dying for her. I would allow Drew to take over and take care of this crap. She would be able to live without worry, and that was something I wanted for her. I loved her, and I wanted her to make her own decisions.

“Anyways I feel Soma would be better with us,” I spoke up breaking the awkward issues between Soma and Alec. I know this wasn't going my way, I could tell the way Alec was acting, it was starting to piss Drew off, but I managed to keep him quiet. I sat down after about an hour of trying to convince them to give Soma over to me. I felt stupid and childish they were having us do that.

King Gideon didn’t even have to talk about it, he was straight to the point. After that, the Council dismissed us and told us they would let us know and that we should get something to eat while we waited.

I guided Soma out of the room, I could feel the Lycan King and Nick were close enough to listen to our conversation, so I didn’t say anything until I was able to pull her into a room and close the door.

“I’m sorry,” I said pulling her into me. “I don’t think they are going to decide for us,” I said with a sad face. I already knew the outcome and it was breaking me into little pieces. Drew wanted to come out, but I managed to keep him quiet.

“I know,” she said looking up at me, her beautiful eyes I almost lost myself in them. “I will find you, he’s not going to keep me, prisoner, I promise.”

“Please don’t take forever, my heart is already dying,” I said touching her face. I knew me saying that wasn't making things better it was probably making things worse. She needed to know how I was feeling whether it was bad or not.

“I love you, Oliver no one is going to change that about my feelings,” she said pulling me closer to her. I wish I could just mark her right now and get it over with. I knew it wasn't the right way to do it and I wanted our first time to be special. “Please take care of yourself until I come back.”

“I will try and do everything I can to bring you back. That beast isn't going to touch you and if he does I will make sure his death is slow and painful,” he said before we were called back to the Council chambers. My heart was already broken and I hadn't heard the news yet.
