Chapter 78
Soma’s POV
My heart was racing, I wasn't sure which way to go. I knew going in any direction could lead me into King Gideon’s guards, I was afraid to be caught, but I knew it was something that could happen, I had to be prepared, my body was exhausted but it wasn't time to sleep, I had to move.
Sounds of howling all around me, I wasn't sure if it was because they finally figured out that I was out and about, or because the vampires were attacking. It didn’t matter I had to move.
Running blind in the dark was almost impossible, I knew it was only a matter of time before they caught up to me and force me to become the Queen. I didn’t want what King Gideon was offering, I wanted to go home. I missed home.
Tripping over something big, I smashed my face into the ground. I’m sure I’m bleeding on my forehead, I try to get up and my body fails. I was beyond exhausted, and scared. I could hear things around me but I wasn't sure how far they were or if they knew where I was.
The howling got closer, I knew they were Lycans, it was only a matter of time. Trying to catch my breath, I felt the air around me shift. I wasn't sure if it was them, or if I was losing consciousness.
“Soma.” a whisper in my ear, I wasn't sure who the voice belonged to, it kind of calmed me down. In this situation, I should be freaking out.
Bright light forced me to shield my eyes. I didn’t know where the light was coming from. Maybe I was waking up, and everything will be like it should be. Maybe this was all a nightmare and here I am waking up.
“Soma.” a voice from the light came before the light faded and a silver Lycan appeared. “Don't be afraid,” she said.
“What, who are you?” I asked confused.
“I am yours,” she said bowing his head. “I am the sleeping counterpart. My name is Seff,” she said bowing before me.
The hair on my body stood up, I wasn't sure if I was dreaming or truly out of it. A wolf standing in front of me, telling me she is mine. I wasn't sure what to think, I was afraid and excited at the same time. “But, how, how do I have you? I’ve never believed Lycans were real?” I said panicking.
“I was banished by witch magic when you were a baby. Your true parents Nathaniel and Vanessa loved you so much they were willing to have you live as a human,” she said pacing back and forth. “With objections from the Councils they still went ahead and did it, thus they were separated forever never finding each other again.”
“So they were cursed because of me,” I said with a sad face. “Now I see why they left me alone rather than coming to get me, at least one of them.” My heart broke a little knowing my parents had to give me up, and then they were forced apart. It almost made me feel like I was a curse, and that what is happening to me is because of it. Maybe I should just do what King Gideon says and see what happens. He’s going to find me, and there wasn't anything I could do to get away from this.
“As far as I know, he only knows about you. Vanessa however may not know you still exist,” she said stopping. “I know you’re scared, but let me in.”
“How?” I begged to know before she faded away but the answer wasn't there. I frowned, but at least what Oliver was saying is true and I am one. Getting to my feet, two strong arms grabbed me, I squealed.
“Come on,” he growled. “King Gideon isn’t pleased you’re out here all alone.”
“Please just let me go, I don’t belong!” I whined as he dragged me along.
I tried to fight him, but it was a pathetic attempt, I thought since being Lycan I would have the strength, but maybe it had something to do with becoming one with Seff.
“Good you found her.” King Gideon growled grabbing my arm. “Princess that wasn't very wise, you know the vampires are out there somewhere, and you should have known I would have this place protected.”
“I knew you had it protected, but I didn’t think your men could find me,” I growled trying to pull my arm out of his hold, but he tightened his grip. “Can you let me go now, you found me, it’s not like I’ll be able to run now.”
“See you have so much to learn.” he smiled. “Now get in the castle and if you try to escape again, I will throw you into the dungeon, and there isn't anyone that will be able to save you.” he snapped before pushing me into the castle.
I didn’t say anything, I knew I would try and escape again this time I will try during the early morning so that I have a little darkness left and hope I get away.
“I mean it Princess if you try you will regret it,” he warned again before leaving me standing there.
I looked at the two guards that still stood near me, I knew they were going to force me back to my room and then probably lock me away.
“Time to go back to your room.” one of them finally spoke.
“I don’t want to,” I growled.
“King Gideon wants you rested, you have something to do tomorrow,” he said taking a step towards me. “He said if you resisted I am to take you to the dungeon and leave you naked,” he smirked.
“I uh I don’t think he’d do that,” I growled.
“Do you want to take that chance?” he smiled bigger. “He left me in charge of what happens to you, so he doesn’t care if I take you,” he said taking another step towards me. “Now your choice.”
“Fine,” I growled, I knew he was messing with me, but I didn’t want to take a chance in case he wasn't. I followed one of the guards, and he trailed behind me. I had a feeling King Gideon was going to make this man follow me everywhere. I wasn't sure if he would do anything to me, I wasn't going to take a chance seeing he was a full Lycan and I wasn't sure of myself yet.
“Here we are.” the one in front of me spoke, he opened my door. “Enjoy your rest.” he smiled before moving out of the way.
I walked into the room, the one that wanted to strip me naked followed me into the room and closed the door.
“I don’t plan on doing anything but going to bed,” I growled. “Please leave.”
“Nope, cannot do,” he said leaning again the door after he closed it. “King Gideon doesn’t trust you won't try your stunt again, and he left me in charge of you,” he said pushing himself off. “Now that we are alone, we could get to know each other.”
“I don’t have anything to talk about,” I said turning away. “If you’re going to be annoying, please do it in silence,” I said getting into bed, but he slowly walked closer to me. “I will kill you if you try anything.”
“Oh don’t worry I am not allowed to touch you.” he mused. “I just like to see how you react, and honestly you have so much to learn about us.”
“I don’t want to learn about you,” I growled. “I was raised as a human, so there is nothing you can say to me to convince me of your lies.”
“You are going to be strong I can tell when we figure out how to wake Seff.” he mused. “Yes, I know all about her, her legends.”
When he said that, every hair on my body stood up. Did he know Seff, or was he guessing because he knew about me and what my parents did when I was a baby? “What, what are you talking about?” I asked.
“Either you are good at playing stupid or you don’t know why King Gideon wants you so bad,” he smirked. “But when we summon Seff he isn't going to be able to control her, she is going to end up killing him.”
I didn’t know what to say, was he telling the truth? Who was my counterpart and why was she so special. I wanted to know more, but I didn’t want to seem too interested because then he could control me just by feeding me only a little information.
“I want to go to sleep now, can you please either go out the door or be quiet?” I asked moving the covers closer to me. “Please.”
“Fine, but when you wake I want to show you around, King Gideon has some things to do, so we have some time to ourselves,” he said before retreating out of the room.
I was glad he was gone, I wanted to know everything I could about being Lycan but some of the stuff was probably crazy and I wasn't sure I wanted to know everything.
