Chapter 66

Soma’s POV

I wanted to believe Nick, but it was hard. I knew he was the one that was holding me when the Lycan King knocked me out, but that doesn’t mean he was part of his plans. Maybe Nick was forced into doing it, and he was just trying to protect us.

“Please don’t hate me.” He said getting up from the bed. “You should get some rest, I will send some food in here so you have something before you sleep.” He said before leaving me sitting there.

I still wanted to talk about everything, but maybe it was best he left me alone so I could think about things. I knew I needed to get out of here, but I knew King Gideon wasn’t going to let me wander around the house or the castle without someone. I just hope I could show him he could trust me even though deep down he knows I will most likely try to escape.

A girl brought in a tray of food and left without looking at me or saying anything. I didn’t mind, maybe King Gideon told her just to drop the food off and leave me alone. I walked over to the food it didn’t look good but my stomach was growling so I forced myself to eat it.

Once I was finished eating, I climbed into bed. I wasn’t sure if everything that happened today was the reason I was tired, or I was stressed. Closing my eyes I drifted in and out of sleep all night. I kept having nightmares about what King Gideon was planning to do to me. I was afraid he was going to force me to mate with him and then he would use me to gain more power or something crazy.

Shaking the feeling from my body, I got up and ran into the shower. I was sweaty from my head to my toes, those nightmares were something horrible. I knew I needed to run as soon as I can, I just wasn’t sure where to run or which way is home.

Morning came around, Nick knocked on the door and then came in. He saw that I was sitting by the window watching the rainfall.

“Hey, did you sleep?” he asked walking closer to me.

“For a little while,” I said without looking at him. “What does King Gideon plan to do to me?” I asked looking at him.

“Make you Queen and other things, I don’t know.” He said relaxing against a wall. “I don’t want you to become Queen if you don’t want to be, but you are a Princess so it will have to happen, whether you kill Gideon and rule by yourself, or if you two come to some kind of truce and rule the kingdom together.”

“I am not ruling anything with that monster!” I snapped.

“You’re not going to have a choice, my love.” King Gideon said walking into the room with a dress. “You need to wear this, tomorrow we’re going to the gown shop and getting you more stuff to wear.” He said putting it on the bed.

“I am not going to do anything you want!” I growled at him. I didn’t want to be scared of him, and he wasn’t going to be the one telling me what to do. I would stand and fight against him until he decided I wasn’t worth it and I would be better off dead.

I didn’t have time to react, he had his hand on my throat and me against the wall. “You will do what I tell you and when I tell you.” He growled his teeth close enough to bite my ear if he wanted. “I will force everything on you, I am not your mate. I don’t care what you feel, you will do what I say.” He said squeezing my throat closed. “I won't kill you, but I will strip you down to where you wish for death. So get the gown on and Nick will lead you to the dining hall. People want to see their new Queen, so you better act like it.” He said pushing off of me.

I rubbed my neck and glared at him, I didn’t need this. I didn’t need him telling me I was going to be nothing. I would show him just how cruel I could be. I will run when I have a chance and pray that he doesn’t find me.

“Ten minutes Princess.” He growled before leaving Nick and me standing there.

“Is he always like that?” I asked still rubbing my throat.

“Pretty much, he is this way for reasons I don’t know.” He said shrugging his shoulders. “I guess you better get dressed, he doesn’t want to wait and he only gave you ten minutes.”

“I don’t care, Nick, I am not going to let this man do what he wants. Why don’t you stand up against him? He doesn’t seem that powerful, he just has that aura of darkness.”

“Because when you’ve seen what he can do, you aren’t going to want to step outside of his danger zone. He is scary, get dressed.” He said leaving me standing there.

I looked down at the gown, the King had good taste, but I didn’t want to give him what he wanted. If I didn’t show resistance then he knows he won. I wasn’t going to wear it, and I was going to show him just how much it’s going to take to break me. I was strong, and I wasn’t willing to lay down like Nick.

I walked over to the door and opened it, Nick was pacing the hallway.

“You didn’t change?” he complained.

“And I won't, why don’t we go and show this King that we’re not scared of him,” I said crossing my arms. “Or are you scared?”

When he didn’t say anything, I knew he was scared. It was okay, I was going to do this alone. I knew it was stupid, but I didn’t want him getting over me the first night I was his prisoner.

“Gideon!” I growled hoping I was putting off some kind of aura.

He looked at me, anger instantly took over his face. “Didn’t I tell you to change?” he growled stalking towards me.

“You did,” I said taking a step back. “But since you have everyone here scared of you I thought I would give you something new,” I said crossing my arms. “I am not your puppet or your toy.”

“Oh, but you are.” He said grabbing me hard and pulling me closer to him. “I could mate you now and get this over with. You will submit to me, or you’re going to regret it.” He warned.

“I’m not!” I growled as loud as I could.

He left me to go and looked at me, and then he backhanded me, I flew across the room hitting the nearby wall.

“So you don’t want to listen.” He said grabbing me by my hair, I cried out in pain but he only made it hurt worse.

He tossed me around a few times, before kicking me until I was too weak to move.

“So Princess are you ready to listen?” he said bending down.

“No!” I mumbled.

He growled and looked at Nick. “Take her back to her room.” He said before he stormed off.

Nick gently picked me up and walked towards the room I was in. he didn’t say anything until we got into the room.

“That was pretty stupid.” He said laying me on the bed. “But I saw- no never mind.” He said shaking his head and disappearing into the bathroom.

I regretted what I did, but was glad that at least now he knows two things, one I did not submit and two I can take a beating to his frustrations, I felt pretty good after.

Nick came back into the room, he was still mumbling stuff but I couldn’t hear, it didn’t matter. He helped wipe the blood off my face.

“You are sweet Soma.” He said running his hand down my face. “I know I messed this up, but I hope you can forgive me in the end. When you become Queen you are going to be the one who decides my fate.”

“What, what are you talking about?” I said wanting to start to panic.

“I betrayed the crown.” He said tucking my hair behind my ear. “You just haven’t figured everything out, but you will.” He said cleaning more blood. “Just know my death will be peaceful because you’ll get to order it.”

“What!” I growled. He wasn’t making sense, and he was starting to scare me. “Please explain to me what you’re talking about?”

“He can’t he’s under code until you become Queen you are not allowed to know.” King Gideon said coming into the room. “I came to apologize for the way I was with you earlier.” He said but didn’t move from the doorway. “Time for your patrol Nick, you two have had enough to talk about.” He snapped.

“I’ll see you later Princess,” Nick said before walking past King Gideon.

“Your dinner is coming, after please  take a shower I will expect you to honor my request to change into something nicer than you are wearing.” He said glancing at the gown. “Please.” He said before bowing and closing the door.
