Chapter 47

Nathaniel’s POV

Watching the young Lycan look for me was kind of annoying. I didn’t want to be found I wanted to get a plan together to take over my Kingdom. But I am all too curious to find out why he wants to meet with him. So I’m going to pull myself out of the dark and talk to him.

“Why are you looking for me?” I asked coming out of the dark.

“Nathaniel finally.” He look relieved to see me, but I didn’t trust him. I knew he worked with King Gideon so he was probably someone Gideon trusted.

“I’m not going to say it again Lycan,” I growled. “Tell me why are you searching for me.”

“I need answers,” he growled. Wow this kid isn't afraid of me, if only he knew who I was and what I could do to him. “About Soma.”

“What about her?” I narrowed my eyes. “You’re with King Gideon I am not going to tell you anything about her,” I said taking a step towards him. “Even though you two weren’t friends at the

palace, so I’m going to throw you a bone.”

“She’s in danger.” He said taking a deep breath. “King Gideon wants to take her from her mate and force her to bear children for him.”

“So he wants to make her a slave. He wanted to do that when she was born, that is why I hid her. How did he find out where she was?” I said crossing my arms, I didn’t like how my daughter was going to become something she’ll hate. Something I’ve made sure to keep from her, and now King Gideon thinks he can do what he wants. “What’s your name boy?”

“I don’t know. My name is Nick” He said shaking his head. “When he found out about her, he sent word to me. I was forced to come back here since I am Lycan,” he said with a sad face. “I’ve been trying to avoid telling him too much as she doesn’t want or know anything about her past.”

“And I want to keep it that way, with her knowledge about what she is and how much power she has, could pose a problem for everyone including the humans.”

“I don’t understand, I didn’t even know she was Lycan and now she is?” Nick asked confused.

“Yeah you wouldn't have known, she is under a witch's protection, her mother and I thought it would protect her from this. You see when Gideon wanted to overthrow me, and wanted my daughter for his Queen. I came to the human world, we found a witch and the witch put a spell on her to hide her from this pain that is going to be inflicted if things don’t change and if Gideon isn't stopped.” I said pacing around. “But since Gideon knows about her, I am sure the other supernaturals know about her, so who knows how many we have after her now.”

“Wait I don’t understand, why is she in so much danger now?” Nick asked concerned.

“People want power and they don’t care how they get it,” I said rolling my eyes. “Where is my daughter now?”

“New York.” He said taking a deep breath.

“Well then I suggest you get back to her, you being here leaves her unprotected and that is something that isn't a good thing.”

“But she is protected.” He countered.

“How?” I narrowed my eyes at him.

“Well, she is mated with werewolves. She is with her mate and he promises that he’ll keep her safe.”

“How do you know he isn't tricking you to get close to her to force her hand?” I growled.

“I trust him, and he doesn’t seem to care about what she is, he only wants her.”

“That’s my point, how do you know he isn't doing this to gain her trust?” I growled again.

“Well I am usually one that can read people, that is why I was assigned to protect her isn't it?” he snapped at me.

“I don’t know, are you? How do I know you’re not going to help Gideon get what he wants in the end?” I growled. “I want to see my daughter, you will arrange it to happen,” I said before leaving him standing there.

“Hey how will I get in touch with you?” he called after me.

“I’ll get in touch with you,” I said before disappearing into the darkness.

I was going to test him, I wanted to see how much pull Gideon had on him. I didn’t trust him enough to protect my daughter, but at least I know she isn't in London. I would have to make my way to the United States and hope she understands why her mother and I did what we did to protect her. I know she is probably going to turn on me, but that was expected. I abandoned her and left her alone in a world she didn’t know.

Pulling out my phone I needed to get in touch with the Coven that helped us place the spell on Soma.

“Nathaniel it’s been a long time since we’ve spoken.” the woman on the other end answered the phone.

“It’s time Athena,” I said leaning against a wall. “They know about Soma, she is safe right now but I have a feeling this is the only start of it.”

“The spell should still be in place,” she said allowing a sigh to slip out. “But we can do it again if you want.”

“No, no,” I said pacing around. “I want the spell removed if they are going to try and take her away from me, I want her to be able to defend herself. What King Gideon and his minions plan to do to her isn't going to be fun. She needs her Lycan.” I sighed.

“That’s a lot of power you’re willing to let out.” she mused. “So after all these years have you finally accepted what your daughter is?”

“I don’t have a choice now do I?” I snapped. “She lives somewhere in New York, I’m going to need you and your coven there when we speak again.”

“So you don’t know exactly where she is?”

“No, but I have someone close to her, so I know where to find him,” I spoke. “But in all serious I need you.”

“We’ll be there, I will call the girls this evening, and then we will wait for your call. Things will be different this time, she is older so she can understand pain.”

“I know, it was brutal for her to go through this as a baby, trust me I did what we knew was right. She doesn’t remember anything, so when all this is done I am hoping she is okay.”

I didn’t say anything else after that, I needed to get some paperwork together and fly to New York myself and see her myself. I couldn’t believe this was happening, I was hoping she would have had a normal life, and this wasn't part of it, but now I cannot change it, and now she will have to learn to deal with it. She was strong when she was a baby, so I know she is going to be strong now. I just hope she understands why we did what we did.

Walking back to the bar I was sitting at when I noticed Nick, I ordered another drink and thought about what I would say to her. I didn’t know if she would even give me the time of day because of everything. She might even think she was abandoned when she was a baby. It hurt my heart to know there was a chance she would hate me.

“Where did you run off to?”

“Someone was looking for me,” I said looking at her. She was a girl I was dating but not seriously, she would come to the island when King Gideon allowed. Sometimes I wondered if she was hired by him to keep me happy, it didn’t matter but it was still something I wondered about.

“Everything okay?”

“Yeah I have to leave here soon but I promise I will be back when I’m done,” I said taking another drink.

“Living here?” she questioned.

“I wish I could tell you that, but this is kind of nothing to do with you. But I promise there is not another woman and I will come back when I am finished.”

“Well do you think I could come with you?” she questioned. “I mean I’ve always wanted an adventure, and you might even need some help?” she said wrapping her arms around my neck.

“No, no you stay here where I know you are safe,” I said looking away from her. “Besides I don’t think your parents would allow me to take you out of the country.” I laughed.

“You’re leaving the country?”

“Yes, but I won't be far, and I know you’ll be a good girl until I get back.” I kissed her on her forehead. “I need to go, I’ll fall you when I land,” I said before leaving her sitting there. She didn’t look happy, but it didn’t matter. I had real business and real-life I needed to take care of. She will just have to understand and if she didn’t then I guess she won’t be waiting when I get back.
