Chapter 107
Nathaniel’s POV
I sent the doctor in again to check on Soma, I needed to talk with Oliver. I knew he wanted to get home, and I wanted to get things ready for their departure. I would send them on a private plane that way there were no questions asked and he could rest with her since it was a long trip. I was sending Nick with them, I wanted to make sure everyone is safe. With Oliver being my son-in-law I wanted to make sure his needs were met too.
When I heard the door open from the hallway I knew it was Oliver, I stood up and waited for him to join me at the table.
“How are you feeling?” I asked as we sat down.
“Good. I mean as good as I can,” he said looking at me. “How's your mate doing?”
“She’ll recover, I had to remark her and all that for the healing to happen but she is glad to be safe with us.” I smiled. “Has there been any change with Soma?”
“No,” he said shaking his head. “I wish she would let me know what she is feeling or something,” he said with a sad face. I knew there was nothing I could say to make him feel better about this, I just wish there was something I could do to make her wake up and let us know she was okay.
“I am sure she is going to wake up. My mate wanted to talk to you about what to expect when she does wake up.” I said looking at the door. “She will be here in a bit, she is struggling to move around the vampire starved her for months when she wouldn't allow him to get to Soma,” I said. “But she is strong so I know she will get through this, our daughter is strong too.”
“Your mate doesn’t have to come out here, let her rest,” he said shaking his head. “I just came to get something to eat and I want to go back with Soma.”
“Please this is very important to her, she wants to help you understand what kind of wolf she has,” I spoke.
“But she lost her wolf, she isn't getting it back,” he said with a sad face.
“That’s not entirely true,” Mary said coming into the dining hall with some help. “Thanks.” She said as they pulled the chair out for her so she could sit down.
“What do you mean?” Oliver asked almost excited.
“Well the only way to rid of her wolf would be the Moon Goddess herself, and well I don’t have that power. All we did was put the block back in place so that Seff could use her healing abilities to heal them both.”
“And what about the venom?” he asked.
“We don’t know what it can do, but with the power, Seff has we’re hoping that she can get rid of it and there aren’t any lasting effects.” She said with a sad face. “I know she has healing powers because she restored Nathaniel's tongue and that is only a magic the Moon Goddess has.”
“So she is a part of the Moon Goddess?” he asked.
“Aren’t we all?” she chuckled. “But yes she is closer to the Moon Goddess than most of her children, don’t count her out yet.”
“Well yeah I guess, I’ve been in the darkness a long time, and when I first found Soma I felt some of it go away. I now know that I am just as lost as she was, but if we can be together and find out the light I think the darkness will go away.”
“You are only plagued by darkness because you thought the Moon Goddess overlooked you and didn’t give you a mate. But in reality, she was just waiting for you two to meet so she could show you that the darkness doesn’t have to be all bad.” She smiled. “I know you want her to wake up so you can see for yourself, but she isn’t going to remember a lot of things. Seff might wipe her memory from it because of how painful it was for the both of them.” Mary spoke lightly. “But that doesn’t mean you will forget it or Seff with. This is just helping Soma get through this seeing all of this was new to her and it’s probably scary. Going from the human world to an animal world I would have run as fast as I could away from everyone.”
“Well, I hope she doesn’t want to run from me,” Oliver said with a sad face. “Drew and I want her and we want her to be loved, and feel the love we have. I promise I will do everything in my power to ensure she knows this. I just hope she doesn’t reject me.”
“Rejection is hard and strong,” Mary said with a sad face. I still remember that day and it sucked for me too. My heart broke into a million pieces, I had a family and didn’t and I didn’t know how to cope. I think that is why Gideon was able to get over on me, and I wasn’t fighting him anymore. “We both know how things are when you are rejected, but I don’t see it happening.”
“What do you mean you don’t see it happening?” Oliver asked hopefully.
“My mate can see the future, that is why we were able to let Soma go into the human world, it was the only way the two of you would have found each other,” I spoke up before Mary could. “You see we didn’t want to lose our family, but it became too dangerous and when she told me she knew Soma would find her mate among the humans even though you weren’t human we knew we were making the right choice for her.”
“Arent you worried she is going to want nothing to do with our world?” he asked.
“We were at one point, but as she got older and when she met you the first time, I saw the love she had for you already. She knew you met something to her, at first she thought it was a crush but when she couldn’t deal without seeing you each day it became interesting for her. So we knew to trust her she would find you.”
“Well, I am still worried she won't want anything to do with me because of what happened. I hope she could get a hold of her wolf and everything will be okay.” He said with a sad face. “I don’t take rejection well.”
“Why don’t you just let things work themselves out, the Moon Goddess has a lot of plans for the two of you and I don’t think rejection is in the cards. You both have been longing for the love and everything so I am sure it’s going to be okay.” Mary said gracefully.
“Thank you for talking with me,” Oliver said as the food arrived. I knew he was hungry and this was a lot to take in. I just hoped he wasn’t planning on telling her they weren’t going to work out. I wanted to see my daughter get married and be in love. Something everyone wants in their life, and these two of that options. I know their relationship wasn’t able to develop before everything happen, but I have a feeling there was a reason behind all of this.
“Why don’t you finish eating, the Doctor is still with Soma. You could shift and enjoy the outdoors for a few minutes.” Mary said. “I know your wolf is dying to play with his mate but that will have to wait, but you still could have some fun before you leave for New York.”
“I might do that,” Oliver said smiling. “But I still want to be close to Soma in case she wakes up I don’t want her scared when she realizes she is still in the castle she was held captive. No offense.” He said rubbing his neck.
“Don’t worry I don’t take offense what Gideon did and forced on her was wrong, and I hope she will understand this place is her home if she wants it to be anyways. I know everything about her childhood was different, but if she wants this life she can have it.” I spoke before standing up. “I have a couple of things to do I will come by your room in a few hours and check on you.”
“Thank you,” Oliver said taking his first bite. I knew he was starving and he was just going to keep asking questions if we sat there with him. Mary was strong enough she didn’t need any more rest but I didn’t want her using all of her energy at least not yet. We knew things were still going to come at Soma and Oliver, we needed to figure out if there was something we could do to make sure things don’t go bad for them, it was always a fear someone would get her and kill her because of her wolf. We needed Seff just as she needed us.
