Chapter 74

Nick’s POV

leaving Soma behind again was risky. I knew King Gideon was going to keep her close to him and make her do things at some point. But I needed to head to New York to find Oliver. I know I still didn’t trust him, but who wouldn't with the way he was when everything happened.

Getting off the plane, I hailed a taxi and headed to Soma’s apartment. I still had a key, and I wanted to freshen up before the meeting with Oliver, I was worried he would kill me because he thought I was part of everything, but I am here to give him information so he can get to Soma before King Gideon makes her a slave.

After I got out of the shower, I headed over to the coffee shop. I didn’t know if he would be around, or his brother either way I needed to speak to them.

I walked into the coffee shop, the man at the register greeted me and wanted to take my order but I waved him off.

“I am looking for Oliver or his brother?” I asked clearing my throat. “This is important if they are not here, I need to get in touch with them.”

“What can I do for you?” another man came from the back.

“I need to speak to Oliver.”

“He’s not here, he is on pack arrest due to personal reasons. But I can call him and tell him what you need to me?”

“No,” I said shaking my head. “I need to see him, is there any way someone could bring me to him, or give me directions to the pack lands this is life and death and has to do with his mate.”

“Oliver doesn’t have a mate?” he growled. I could tell he was getting pissed off, but I didn’t have time for this, I needed to see Oliver.

“Look call Oliver and tell him Nick is here and I have information about Soma!” I growled throwing my hands around. “I know you don’t think he wants to see me, but he needs to see me. I need his help and I can help him get his mate back.”

“Fine,” he said disappearing in the back.

I ordered coffee and sat at a table hoping he was calling Oliver or someone to come and get me so I can go and speak with Oliver. He needed to know what was happening, and that this was going to go bad if he doesn’t get to Soma sooner rather than later.

A little while later he came back out and over to me with a piece of paper. “Oliver told me to give this to you, he’s expecting you,” he said handing me a piece of paper that had an address. “Please don’t upset him any more than he already is.”

“Don't worry I come to help him get her back,” I said getting up. “Thanks for your help,” I said before leaving the coffee shop.

Looking down at the address, I remember how to get there partly, but I was glad someone was able to give me the address. I put the address into my phone and waited for it to find the best route.

I started to drive, I felt my nerves were going all over the place. I wasn't sure how Oliver was going to be, and I knew I would have to protect myself if he went into his werewolf. I didn’t want to hurt him, but I would if he wanted me dead.

I wasn't sure how I was going to explain everything to Oliver. I just hope he understands my reasons behind helping the Lycan King get to Soma. He went crazy and I didn’t want to lose my best friend because he couldn’t control his werewolf. I was a little pissed that Oliver didn’t want to come to the coffee shop, maybe it was true and he was on pack land arrest until he calms down or something. I didn’t know, and it didn’t matter at the moment. I just wanted to get to him and explain things and try and help him come up with a plan to get his mate back alive without any more issues. I owe Soma my life because of how she was, and Oliver well he didn’t owe me anything and I didn’t either. I just wanted some peace between us.

Driving for what seemed like hours, my exit was finally here. I didn’t know how much longer I had to drive to get to the road before the GPS stopped working, but I hoped it got me close enough to the lands to find my way the rest of the way.

Pushing on the gas, I needed to get there faster, I know the long things went on the fewer chances we will have to make things work. I don’t even know if my being here is going to help Oliver or if it’s going to provoke something dark. I didn’t know what to expect when I stepped in front of him. I just hope he understands we’re on the same team.

“You have arrived!” the GPS called out.

I looked down and then to the road. This must be the road, I wasn't sure if I should try and get in touch with one of the warriors so they could let him know I was there, or if I should keep driving until I find the gate to their packhouse.

Taking a deep breath, I turned the car onto the dirt road, but instantly had police lights in my rearview mirror.

“What the hell?” I gritted my teeth, putting the car in park.

I didn’t even know I had a cop following me, I watched as he got out. My heart went into my throat when I realized it was Detective Marks. I wasn't sure how long he’d followed me or what he wanted, this couldn’t be good. He was trying to stop me from getting to Oliver. Either he knows more to this story than I thought, or I was just followed because he was still after Soma.

“What do you want Detective Marks?” I snapped as I rolled my eyes down.

“I came to make sure you are not trying to start things,” he growled. “I need you to get out of the car so we can talk about this.”

“We don’t have anything to talk about vampires.” I snapped at him. “Now if you don’t mind I have things I need to do.”

He growled at me before pulling my door open and forcing me out of the car. I had to keep myself in control because my Lycan already was begging to come out. But I didn’t want to give in to the vampire, he wanted me to attack him and get arrested, I couldn’t do this right now.

“Look I don’t want to do this,” I growled stumbling around as he was trying to force me against the car.

“I don’t care what you want,” he growled throwing me into the car. “I need to ensure you are not going to get in the middle of this, we have plans for the girl and the mutts,” he growled trying to handcuff me.

“No,” I growled letting my Lycan come out a little so I could overpower him and get into the car, but that didn’t work. It was like he was on steroids and I was no match for him.

“Vampire King wants you silenced,” he said pulling out something.

“No!” I growled.

I couldn’t get my arms free before he injected me with something, instantly I felt something burning my blood. I cried out in pain and fell to the ground.

“Not so tough.” he laughed kicking me in the stomach. “I know you want Oliver to know things, but he’s not getting the girl back,” he said in between kicking me, but the pain started not to matter as the poison he injected me with was taking over and I could barely function.

“You are not going to win,” I growled trying to fight it, but I knew it was too much for me. “She will kill your master too, she isn't someone to mess with.”

“But yet she was this weak little girl when I did get to mess with her,” he said kneeling, he pulled me to my feet, and forced me to walk. I don’t know how I managed to make it to the car before he slammed me into the door. I fell to the ground and closed my eyes. I was trying to stay awake, but it was getting too hard for me. I didn’t want him taking me anywhere.

“When I see her again, I will give her the vampire pleasure she wants. You do realize the vampire King is going to make her a high bred?” he giggled at it, I wasn't buying what he was saying, it didn’t make sense. How would he make her into a high-bred? I didn’t know they existed, but then again I wasn't too much into the history of things and I didn’t care.

“Time to go Lycan boy,” he said before I lost consciousness.
