Chapter 49
Oliver’s POV
Knowing Soma was struggling with some stuff, I knew it was going to be a little harder for her to jump into things, but it didn’t matter. I would help her any way I could and make sure she had the help she needed if there was a problem.
“What are you thinking so hard about?” Micah quizzed.
“Soma and everything that happened. I guess she kind of got freaked out on the whole Luna thing, she thought it would be forced on her, but in reality, we want her to want it right?”
“Well yeah, you cannot force someone to do something,” Micah said leaning against a tree. “The thing I’m worried about right now is the rogue attacks, I don’t want something like this happening when we’re not here.”
“Yeah, no kidding,” I said rolling my eyes. “The only thing we can do is make sure she stays close here.”
“But what if things continue to happen?” he quizzed. “I mean you should think about getting her trained and see if we can help her understand some of her strengths.”
“But I don’t know if she would be willing to go through stuff,” I said shrugging my shoulders. “But then again I don’t want her facing Detective Marks and her not being able to do anything and he takes her away from me.”
“He’s a vampire unless she is Lycan and it’s in here somewhere, she isn't going to have a chance against him, but we should train with her. Get her comfortable with hand-to-hand kind of stuff, and then go from there. She might even like it and want to continue, plus we can get the women here to help out and train her like they are.”
I didn’t say anything he was right, we needed to ensure Soma could take care of herself, and that was something that fighting would have to do. I was a little afraid to see how she would react but we need to be ready, especially when she takes on the role to help me run our pack.
Walking over to the window, I looked out a storm was coming and it was going to be nasty. “I’m more worried about the vampires than rogues,” I said turning towards him. “Both are annoying as hell, but I have a feeling Detective Marks is going to be far worse this time, especially since it has to do with our pack as a whole.”
“Honestly I know he’s going to be an ass,” Micah said shrugging his shoulders. “But what he doesn’t know is we know how to handle his kind. Yes, we’ve let him live a little too long but that doesn’t mean we’re not capable of killing him too.”
“He knows we can kill him, and he does press his luck, one day it’s going to go out and he’s going to wish it was someone else he was facing,” I said clenching my jaw. I was worried about Soma and only her. I knew my pack could take care of themselves, but she couldn’t. She was this innocent girl and there was something far darker about this whole deal than I could understand.
“You need to get in touch with Harry, he will be able to help us get in touch with the Council so we know what we’re against. I don’t think the Council will stop you from being with Soma, but I know the Lycan King and his minions will do it.”
“I haven't spoken to Harry in a long time, I don’t even know if he has the same kind of pull he had a hundred years ago,” I said shrugging my shoulders.
“Well it doesn’t hurt to try does it?” he said rolling his eyes. “Call him, and then get back to your girl, I am sure she is going crazy without you,” he said before leaving me in my office.
I wasn't sure how to get a hold of Harry anymore, I guess trying his old number and hoping he picks up. I was worried he wouldn't be able to help me and this would just make everything worse. I hoped everything didn’t turn out against us, my pack and I have suffered a lot due to the Council that is why I am worried about contacting them. I knew Harry, he’d been in our corner in the past, but since it’d been a long time since we’ve spoken I wasn't sure.
Sitting down at my desk, I pulled out my notebook with everyone important listed in it, I flipped through the pages until I found Harry. I let out a deep breath before dialing the number. It rang and rang until the voicemail came up.
“Hey Harry Oliver Stone here, I need to speak with you it’s important,” I said into the phone. “I know we haven’t spoken in a long time, but I need help,” I said before hanging the phone up and putting it back in my pocket. Now I had to wait, and that was the worst. I hated waiting for someone to respond to me, but I had no idea what he was up to, and I wasn't even entirely sure he was still alive.
Turning to leave, a shadow figure appeared near the door, he removed his hood from his head to reveal who he was.
“Harry,” I said. “You didn’t have to come all the way here to talk.” I half-smiled.
“Well I know you have a problem and decided to come and see for myself,” he said walking towards me. “So I hear you found your mate?”
“I did,” I said clearing my throat. “But I don’t know much about her, and it seems there is a war to likely breakout and I am concerned for her.”
“Well you should be, not many werewolves get linked with a Lycan and a Princess on top of that.” he moved closer to me. “But here's the bad news for you and your mate, since she is a Lycan she will have to face the Council face to face and they will decide her fate.”
“So I don’t get a choice in this, I just have to deal with what they want and what they say. What if they tell me she cannot mate with me?” I was growing angry and I could feel Drew coming to the surface.
“Sadly I don’t know what they are going to tell you, but yes if they tell you to reject your mate you will have to otherwise you will face the wrath of the Council.”
“Well, I guess I’m going to face them because I am not rejecting my mate for this cause. They need to figure out how to make it work with the Lycans and the werewolves. This isn't only unfair to me, but unfair to my mate. You do realize the Lycan King wants to marry her?”
“No I was not aware of that,” he said walking over to the window. “The only thing I could suggest you do is to see what the Council says and if you don’t like what they have to say then talk it over with your mate and see what she wants to do.”
“And if she wants to be with me?” I growled.
“Then I guess you and her will have to figure out how to make that happen. I know you’re not stupid Oliver, but you must be careful with your choices as you are not the only one that will suffer because of the Council,” he said turning to face me.
“Please is there any way you can help me get them to understand, I know they know how the Moon Goddess works and I know they know how important mates are to a pack of wolves,” I said wanting to slam my hands down on the desk but I kept it together.
“I will try my best to help you old friend but you know just as well as I do they are going to make their own choices, and we may not like it,” he said shaking his head. “The next time I come here it will be to escort you and your mate to the council,” he said before disappearing.
I didn’t know what I was going to do, this was bad and now it was going to get worse. I didn’t want to have to tell Soma about everything, she was just now relaxing about the whole ordeal and now there was a chance that she would have to go and face the Lycan King. A place where I couldn’t protect her because it was their land. I wasn't happy, but I closed my eyes and calmed Drew down.
The best thing we could do right now spent some time with Soma and tell her what is going on and hope she understands this isn't my choice. I hated the laws we had in place, I didn’t understand how the Council would allow the mate bond not to exist, it was the most important thing for us.
Walking to Soma’s room I heard her moving around, but she wasn't talking to anyone which was good. I knocked on the door and waited for her to open it. I tried to hide what I was feeling, I needed to put on a brave face and hope everything will work out. I knew I needed the faith, but it was hard to have it when my friend was telling me to deal with it and not fight it.
