Chapter 95

King Gideon’s POV

Shaking off the feeling I had, I walked to the door and pulled it open. The hallway was quiet which was kind of weird seeing the Council usually has staff here when they were here. This was a normal thing having meetings at night but something about tonight was off.

My Lycan was on high guard, he could feel something wasn't right about tonight. He was telling me I should run and leave this place that this was a trap. But I couldn’t leave the Council hanging because then it would make me look weak. I knew I had to keep going even though my better judgment was telling me now.

Walking down the long hallway, I started to smell something weird, it almost smelled like blood but it was mixed with something else. I wasn't sure, but I slowly made my way to the Council room. Closing my eyes I knew what I wanted to say to them, it would be a quick meeting and then I would let my Lycan run for the night and get to the hotel and then head home once everything was taken care of.

I didn’t think the Council would force me to do anything, but I knew I had to be prepared. Pushing the door open, my Lycan growled when he saw splatters of blood everywhere. He tried to push through me and take over, but I was stronger.

“Not yet,” I growled through my teeth.

\ I didn’t see anyone, but something happened here. I wasn't sure if the Council had killed someone or if they had been killed. Looking around I didn’t find any sign of anyone and that was starting to worry me a little.

“King Gideon how nice of you to come.” The Vampire King walked into the light, instantly I knew what happened.

“Where is the Council?” I growled realizing I was surrounded by vampires. Either he was smart and knew I was coming here without protection or he was stupid and expected this to be an easy kill. “You better not have done anything you shouldn’t have.”

“The Council is dead, well everyone except Alec,” he said looking past me.

I glanced over my shoulder, Alec was with Marks and someone else. I wasn't scared yet because with a newborn vampire he was an easy kill. I knew Marks was someone that I would have issues with, but I didn’t care too much that he would go down.

“So why are you still here if you did what you came here to do?” I snapped, the vampires were slowly coming closer to me. Something that I wanted and something that worried me because the Vampire King was hard to kill and if I could kill him all his little minions would turn to dust, but I knew the Vampire King a little too well and he was a chicken. He would wait for me to be down before he came at me and that was something I didn’t want to chance.

“Well we have another guest coming and once he is here. We’re all going to head to London, you will force the Princess to come with me, Oliver will kill you and I will let Oliver live unless he gets out of hand like he seems to always do.” he smiled taking a step closer to me. “I could take you now, or you can fight and become the weakling you are and then we can take you back to London. I bet your King would love to see you dead.”

“I AM the King!” I snapped taking a step towards him, but I felt something sharp hit me in my neck, at first it didn’t do anything but then when I figured it out he hit me with Blood Bane.

“No.” the Vampire King laughed. “You only think that you are King. You betrayed your best friend and then tried to kill him but your honor code did something to stop you from doing anything to him. You banished him, you realize he is going to make your life flash before your eyes?” he said sitting down in one of the chairs. “I am looking forward to becoming strong with the Lycan community again, you have done nothing for your people, I am sure they would love to see you die. But I don’t know if Nathaniel is going to let them know you are dead.”

“Nathaniel?” I scoffed. “He is a pathetic man, do you realize I took his tongue and he became even weaker? When he saw his daughter for the first time, do you realize he begged me to spare her?” I laughed. “But you don’t realize how weak you are until you’ve gone and lost everything.”

“He hasn't lost everything, you seemed to think you are strong but in reality, he is going to end you. Hell, he might even let Oliver end you and I will leave the Lycans alone as they are good people. The Council the ones that you thought were your friends, were using you to destroy the Lycan but you’re blinded by the power that they allowed you to have.”

“You think you know anything.” I snapped at him. “You don’t have any idea about us, and how we live. Nathaniel made you see that we were weak and now that I have been King, you haven't been allowed to come into our world and demand things. That is why your pathetic little camp didn’t even try and come into the castle when I first brought the Princess home.”

“You’re right.” he laughed. “I didn’t want to scare the girl, and I knew you were going to be reckless and it wouldn't have done me good to kill you. I want to leave that up to her mate. You see I only have plans to use her for a little while, then I would allow her to mate with her mate. But she wouldn't want him anymore once she is turned.”

“You know what happens when you try and turn a Lycan.” I felt weaker but his Blood bane medicine wasn't doing anything but pissing me off.

“Well that is for regular Lycans, but she is special,” he said getting to his feet. “Isn't that why you want her too? You want to make her into a breeding machine and you think that would work when in reality it doesn’t work that way. Especially since you pain for forcing her to mate with you. You are just going to kill her.”

“And how do you know? You don’t know anything about us Lycans and here you are planning to do something stupid.” I said rolling my eyes, he looked like he was getting pissed. It was kind of good because I wanted to see what he was planning on doing. I wanted to provoke him when he attacks me so I could kill him. I wanted to show his vampires that he was pathetic and another attempt at a failed vampire King. “Tell me, Victor, where is the real King? Because we all know that you are a stand-in King.”

“I killed him just like you wanted to do with Nathaniel. The difference is I made sure he was dead and buried at sea.” he mused. “Clearly we are two different species and I know how to get what I want, and you just do as little as you can.”

I rolled my eyes, he was pissing me off. I knew if I attacked him he would get the upper hand because of his minions, but part of me didn’t care and that was the reckless part of me, and the part that would get me killed.

I felt something come at me, but I didn’t have time to react because they all attacked me at once. I tried to fight them off, but with the newborn, he seemed like he was stronger than he should have been. It could have been because he was from the Council, or because they had him feed on something that would give him the extra strength.

I felt myself slipping because of the Blood Bane, I left my Lycan out but he became powerless and I wasn't sure why. Once I was on the ground, it seemed like the vampires got off me, but I was too weak to do anything. I wasn't sure if the vampire King knew something about Lycans and he used that against me.

“Are you dead?” he asked getting up from the chair, I tried to get up but I felt another poke in my neck. “Too bad I thought this fight was going to be harder.” he laughed.

“What the hell did you do to me?” I growled trying to get up, but I was getting weaker.

“Oh a Lycan curse.” he mused kneeling next to me. “You see Nathaniel told me all kinds of tricks to get you to die, but still be here.” he smiled. “You see Nathaniel is the true King, he wanted peace and we gave it to him, he took care of the vampires in his city.”

“There are no vampires in my city!” I spat.

“That is where you’re wrong,” he said rolling his eyes. “You see we hide, we know the humans are just like the Lycans, only the Lycans are more afraid of us than the humans. We lived in peace before you came along and did things to us, now we’re getting you back!” he growled smacking me.
