Chapter 45
Oliver’s POV
Once I was out of the police station I mind-linked Micah. “I’m out.” I snapped, I was pissed and had a long walk to get back to the coffee shop.
“Did Soma make it to you?”
“What? No why?” I gritted my teeth. Now she was missing, and I wasn't sure if Detective Marks had anything to do with it.
“Well she left shortly after you were arrested,” he said sounding concerned. “We followed her but with all the traffic we lost her, she was heading towards the police station.”
Looking around the parking lot, I found her car. “She’s here,” I growled. “But do I go back inside or do I wait out here?”
“Wait,” Micah said. “Don't worry she is strong she will walk out of the police station. I know you want to run in there but you might cause issues and get arrested for real, and we don’t want that because of the issues we already have.”
“I won't do something stupid Micah, I will let you know what happens. Maybe I can even get a ride back with her as long as she isn't mad at me for everything that has happened. She was pissed when I was being taken away.”
“Geez I wonder why Oliver, don’t you think she feels something for you?” he mused. “Everyone at the packhouse has been asking me when you and she were going to become one.”
“Wait the pack knows?”
“Yeah they are not stupid, and if you don’t hurry up and make her Luna someone else might do something we cannot change.”
I didn’t say anything, he was right. I will have to keep her safe with everything I had and try not to make things worse for her. I was afraid she wasn't going to love me in the end with everything, but I hoped Detective Marks leave her alone at some point. I needed some peace and with that was more stress than it was worth. I wanted to mark her whether it was by force or not just to see if it would get him to leave her alone. I knew that was a bad idea because then she would hate me and want to see me dead.
I spotted Soma coming out of the police station, she didn’t look like she was hurt but she looked like she was stressed. Something happened with Detective Marks and I was not happy. She got in her car and got on the phone, I wondered who it was but when she was done I tapped on the window. I scared her and didn’t mean to.
“Oh Oliver!” she whined getting out of the car and force hugging me. “I thought he hurt you,” she said into my chest.
I wrapped my arms around her, the sparks were going crazy and I was loving it. “They cannot hurt my love,” I said kissing her head. “I know they want to, but they are going to use you to do it. Detective Marks knows he isn't powerful enough to mess with me. Come on let’s get in the car and get out of here.” I said walking her around and helping her in the passenger side. “I’ll drive.”
She didn’t protest which I was thankful for. Once I got into the car she instantly grabbed my hand. “Can you take me home please,” she said with tears in her eyes.
“What about the tea shop?”
“I locked it when I left to try and save you. I am worried that Detective Marks is up to something and I just want to go home so I know at least I am safe,” she said looking out the window.
“Do you want to go to the pack lands, I know you’ll feel even safer there, plus I would feel safe if you were there too.”
“No,” she said shaking her head. That broke my heart a little, maybe I was reading her too wrong to understand where her head is right now. “I mean I need to grab some stuff, but going there might be better for me,” she said looking at me. “But I need to take my cat with me, I don’t know when I will feel safe going back to my apartment.”
“Cat. hm.” I said I wasn't sure how the pack would react to having a cat. I was afraid someone would kill it, but I didn’t want to deny her request either. “Okay, but just to warn you I don’t know how the pack will react to having a cat around.”
“I will keep him in my room, he doesn’t like new places so I am sure he won’t mind being locked in a room, besides the room is twice the size of my apartment.” she giggled.
“Okay, we will get everyone on board once we get back to the pack lands,” I said pulling out of the parking lot.
I was glad that she was coming back to the pack lands, I felt she would be safer there, and having her closer to me made Drew happy. I knew he was going to drive me crazy until we were home, but it was only halfway through the day and I had things I still needed to do at the coffee shop. I thought about bringing her there with me first but I knew it would confuse my employees.
Driving to her apartment, I could feel she was scared. I went first and checked through her apartment, her cat was the only thing in there.
“It’s safe,” I said pulling her inside and closing the door. “I don’t think he’ll come to your apartment, but let’s not stay here for too long,” I said before she disappeared into her room.
Her cat came over to me, rubbing up on me. I was surprised he wasn't scared of me seeing that I could eat him and not even car. I picked him up and petted his head until she was done with her bag.
“Done?”
“Yeah let me get his carrier and the food for Mouse,” she said putting her two bags on the sofa. I put the cat down and grabbed her bags and put them by the door. It felt unreal that she was going to be living with me, I was finally going to have her close to me. Now I just had to keep Drew under control otherwise he will do something crazy and I don’t think she needs to see anything else crazy at least for a while.
After she was finished with everything, I managed to grab all the heavy stuff she grabbed from the car and the water dishes.
“Ready?” I asked throwing her bags in the trunk.
“Yeah I just feel weird about everything, it’s like I’m moving but not,” she said putting the car carrier in the back. “I hope this isn't going to cause issues with anyone.”
“I promise Soma they want you to come to the pack lands, everyone asks about you every day. Now they are going to see you, it’s going to make everyone happy especially me.”
Once we were at the packhouse, Soma relaxed a little. I wanted to know what happened at the police station, but it looked like she didn’t want to talk about it. Maybe when I got back home after work she will be open and want to chat.
“I feel safe here,” she said letting go of my hand and getting out of the car. “I am sorry if this is too much for you.”
“This isn't too much for my love.” I smiled. It didn’t take as long as I thought it would get her to want to come here. I guess I owe Detective Marks some thanks when all of this is done and over with. “Come on I will help you get everything upstairs.”
We grabbed everything she brought and headed to her room. She was close, now I wanted her in my bed but I knew that was pushing it. I would have to work through everything and hope she felt the same way I did. I wanted to see her naked and make love to her all night, but I knew her being a virgin everything was going to be a first for her.
I had to ensure Drew was careful not to hurt her too, I would be pissed if there was an accident because he got carried away. But I would leave it alone until I knew she was ready and we could talk about it, but right now sex wasn't the issue at hand. She was afraid, and I didn’t like that. I wished there was something I could do to make her feel safe, but she needed to find that without my help. But she would have the protection here and that was the first step.
“I have to get back to the shop,” I said touching her on the face. “If you go outside please stay close to the packhouse until I get back, once I am back we can take a walk, and maybe you can help me understand what happened today.”
“Okay,” she said kissing my hand, that almost put me over the edge but I managed to contain myself. “I will be back in a few hours,” I said lightly kissing her lips before leaving her standing there. I had to leave, Drew was starting to become crazy.
