Chapter 31
Nick’s POV
Watching Soma and Oliver talk in the restaurant seemed to be going well. I hoped he was able to convince her of our world. I didn’t want to see anything bad happen to her, and I didn’t want the vampires to get a hold of her again. That scared me when Oliver called and told me they found her and she wasn't in good shape. It took everything in my power not to go to the damn vampire and kill him right then and there.
“How long have you known the Luna?” Micah asked stepping next to me.
“Almost her whole life, I found her after her father placed her with her adoptive parents,” I said without looking at him. I didn’t want to give too much information as I still didn’t trust these mutts.
“So what's the story with her, why is she with the humans?”
“I don’t think I should tell you anything about that, not until I’m sure you and her brother are true to her. She is in a dangerous place now, our King wanted me to bring her back years ago, but she refused to believe anything I said.” I said leaning against the car. “I want to make sure she understands her choices affect us too.”
“Yeah well she’s Oliver’s mate, so I hope you aren't going to stop that from happening,” he said taking a step closer to me. I didn’t like his aura, he was stronger than me I felt.
“I will do what our King wants, she shouldn’t have been here from the start. I only brought her to New York to try and get her closer to coming back to London with me.” I said looking at him. “I figured let her play with a store for a while, I picked the spot for her store on purpose, I knew she wouldn't get much business. Or so I thought.” I said glancing back at Soma.
I noticed she was getting upset, she jumped up from the table and headed our way. I guess he wasn't going to convince her what we are, and I would have to do damage control. Oh well, I guess being her mate isn't something special.
I go to walk past Micah and he grabs my arm. “Wait, let Oliver do what he is supposed to.”
I glanced back into the window, and he stopped her from coming out. They talked again and she rejoined him at his table. I relaxed a little, I wanted him to convince her of everything, it would make my life so much easier.
“He’s got this don’t worry,” Micah said letting my arm go, I watched them talk for a while before my phone buzzed.
“Excuse me,” I said walking away from Micah I didn’t want him to hear anything Gideon and I discussed.
“Hello, King Gideon,” I said clearing my throat.
“So, what is happening there?” he snapped the phone.
“Everything is working out fine,” I said glancing at Micah he was watching me. I turned my back to him. “I am still working on convincing her to come to London with me.”
“Well you better hurry up, I am getting tired of waiting. I’ll give you another month to secure her plane ticket here, if you don’t then I am going to kill you and come there and take her myself. Whether by force or not.” he growled. Something was happening, but I didn’t care to ask. I was hoping to keep Soma here now that Oliver and she are talking.
“Don't worry King Gideon we’re going to make it there,” I said watching Soma. It broke my heart that Gideon didn’t want her with her mate and that he was willing to force her hand into everything. Yes, she was a Princess, but she didn’t deserve to be forced into anything. She ruled our world per her father, but Gideon tore his Kingdom down and banished him.
“We’ll see,” he growled before hanging up on me.
I walked back over to Micah, he watched me but didn’t say anything. I knew he heard the conversation and was probably going to tell Oliver later about it. I would have to explain myself, and when that happened everything was probably going to shit. I was afraid for Soma more than anything, I wanted her to be happy.
“So your King thinks you’re working to bring her home, or are you going to take her away from Oliver and force a war?” Micah snapped, his eyes were black so I knew his wolf was present.
“I want Soma to be happy, what you and Oliver don’t know is she is a Princess, and she needs to rule our people,” I said clearing my throat. “King Gideon wants to marry her to make sure she does get to rule, but also it keeps him in power. Right now the Lycan nations are not too happy with Gideon, so I am tasked with making them happy. They demand the Princess be brought back home and placed in her position.”
“And what if she doesn’t want to be with your people?” he said leaning against a car. “I mean are you going to force her to go anyways?”
“No, I don’t want to force anyone, but you don’t understand King Gideon isn't as passionate about me giving her what she wants and desires, it will be by force.”
“I don’t think Oliver is going to allow that to happen, he would rather kill the Lycan King and take the Kingdom over,” Micah growled. “You are not going to win in this war, we will ensure the Lycans become extinct if you interfere with the Goddess and her choice formate for Oliver.”
“If I wanted her to become the Princess or Queen with Gideon, I would have taken her to London. I don’t want her to have that life, I want her to rule her world. I am thankful that Oliver is her mate, but we need to convince her of this, otherwise, it’s going to be Lycan world for her, and I don’t want to see that happen.”
“Well, we’ll make sure she understands her place in our pack. I will help Oliver convince her that she belongs with us, and then if your King wants to come at us, we’ll have to kill him. When that happens, it will be up to Oliver and Soma to figure out what they want and if they want to merge the two species into one.” he said shrugging his shoulders. “But right now we have to be careful with her seeing the vampires have an interest in her as well, and we don’t know why.”
“I have a feeling it has something to do with their war with us. The vampires have been asking for a truce for years, they are tired of getting this ass handed to them. There was a point where almost all of them were gone, Gideon doesn’t play around when it comes to the vampires.” I said looking at Soma. “I have a feeling they think if she is with the vampires, it will force Gideon’s hand, but in reality, I think it will piss him off even more.”
“Well we have a common problem, so maybe we can work something out there,” Micah said pulling out his keys. “Time to go looks like they are finished,” he said before leaving me standing there.
I backed away so Soma and Oliver didn’t see me standing there, but I needed to ensure they were safe so I followed them out of the parking lot and back to her apartment. I walked in after Oliver left her there.
“Hey, how did it go?” I asked putting my keys down.
“It was different,” she said without looking at me.
I had a feeling she wasn't going to tell me anything about what was said. I hoped she was thinking about everything and she would believe us. It would make everything a lot easier when things go down.
“What do you mean it was different, did you have a good time?” I asked walking to the kitchen to grab some wine for us.
“He’s taking me to his pack lands tomorrow, I don’t know what that means. Maybe he has a nice place in the country and he wants to show me what we’ll have if we are together,” she said taking the wine. “Thanks, I am still unsure about everything. A lot of what he was saying doesn’t make sense,” she said walking to the living room.
“We’re not playing with your head Soma, everything he has told you is true. We’re in the middle of a war and the vampires seem to want you for some reason. The Lycan King wants me to bring you back to London so you can see where you come from.”
“But I’m not from London,” she said with a sad face. “I wish things were easier, my parents are dead so I cannot ask them anything about this,” she said looking down at her wine.
“I know, but you’ve known me all your life, and you should be trusting me by now,” I said with a playful smile. “I won't let anything happen to you, remember when we were kids and you fell and hurt yourself. I was there to make everything better.”
Watching her face, she remembered she smiled.
