Chapter 81

Nick’s POV

Making it to Oliver’s pack lands I was exhausted, I was glad he didn’t hold anything against me. I was still a little worried about how he was going to be once she was back with him. I wanted to be in her life, but I knew she wouldn't have much time to mess around in the world when she became his Luna. I understood the whole werewolf world, I was able to research it while King Nathaniel was in charge, after he was taken from his position King Gideon had everything destroyed.

He didn’t want anyone knowing anything about them, but in reality, the werewolves were peaceful people and I wished we were one instead of Lycans. Lycans only cared about one thing and that was power, something every one of them would do to betray each other just for that short-term power, it made me sick of calling myself a Lycan.

Not being able to move around because of the poison Detective Marks forced into my blood was making me mad. I wanted to talk to Oliver and clear the air, but I knew I had to be careful with my words, I could tell Oliver was about to snap.

“Damn you, vampire,” I growled.

I couldn’t wait to see Detective Marks dead, I wanted to be the one that killed him. Just the fact that he targeted Soma and now he wanted something with me. I needed to trap Detective Marks and ask him questions before I kill him.

Trying to get out of bed, I felt sick. I puked on the floor near the bed before I laid my head back down. What the hell did he put in me? It wasn’t Blood’s bane, it was something worse. Did the vampires know something about us that we didn’t even know about? I wanted to get my blood tested but figured the poison was going to be out of my system before I could get enough strength to get up and ask Oliver for help.

I managed to get to the bathroom before I puked again, I wasn't sure how long this was going to last, I hoped it would pass I needed to speak with Oliver. I knew I had to clear the air with everything that happened, and I hoped he understands I was just trying to protect Soma. I knew she was safe for the time being, but with the vampires coming around I wasn't sure what to expect, and I didn’t want her getting killed by them.

Vampires were ruthless and evil, I knew they would torture her because she is part human, I just hoped we got there before anything like that could go down. I was afraid to lose her for real, and that was something I needed to get taken care of before anything serious happened.

Getting into the shower, the water felt weird. I wanted to get right out but I knew I had to wash the poison out of my system as much as possible, and me puking constantly was making my Lycan weak. I needed the strength in case Oliver was planning on going to London and taking the Lycans down.

After getting out of the shower, I cleaned up the mess on the floor and laid down back in bed. My head was still spinning but at least my stomach finally stopped feeling like it was going to come out of my mouth.

Taking out my phone I dialed a friend of mine named Max, he was one of the few that wanted to take the King down, we both knew Nathaniel was our King. Everyone else was too afraid of what King Gideon would do if he found out we were going to take him out. Now that I had Oliver and his pack maybe we had a chance to do this.

“Nick where you at?” Max answered the phone concerned.

“I am safe, King Gideon let me come back to New York, I am trying to get a plan in place so I can come to get you and Soma. Have you seen her?”

“Who the girl?” he asked curiously. “Of course not King Gideon has the castle locked down, no one can come in or out it seems. I don’t think he is here anyway, do you want me to storm the castle and save the princess?” he joked.

“Not kidding, but no I have something here that might help us, but you have to be careful and stay away from the castle for now. I know your wife is a servant there.”

“Yeah, I haven't seen her in days, Gideon isn't allowing her to come home. She says the castle is mostly quiet, she has only seen a mysterious woman trying to escape but they seem to have her locked down now.”

“That is Soma, she is Nathaniel’s daughter.”

“He has a daughter? Since when?” he whispered.

“You remember when Gideon sent me to America to look for a girl?” I said sitting up. “At the time she was very young, but I friended this girl named Soma, it turns out it was the girl he was looking for. When I came back to London and told Gideon about her Nathaniel was there and he pulled me aside and told me what happened to his daughter and that he thought Soma was his daughter that he’d hidden when she was a baby, I showed him a picture and he said she was.”

“What, why didn’t you tell me?”

“Nathaniel didn’t want anyone knowing he knew where she was. He was making plans to move her away from New York, but Gideon found out more about her, and sent word to the vampires trying to get them to take her, and when they failed he sent me. But I’ve been stalling all these years, and now I had no choice when he contacted the Council about a stolen Princess.”

“What lies!” he growled. “I am going to go into the castle and get her out of there before Gideon can do anything to her.”

“No!” I growled. “If you try and do anything it will let Gideon know we’re on his plans and we are up to something. We have to act stupid until I get my plan in place. You have to lay low and act like you don’t know anything, just keep your wife in mind. You know Gideon can be ruthless, he will kill her just to control you, and you know this isn't something you want. You lose your mate you lose your life remember that.” I said before getting off the phone.

Getting to my feet, I needed some air. Maybe I could let my Lycan out and he will heal the rest of us, I needed to be strong.

“Feeling better?” Micah asked coming closer to me with a cup of something hot.

“A little, I need to let my Lycan out again where is Oliver?”

“He had some business to take care of, but I can come with you if you want?” he asked handing me the coffee.

“I would like to run alone, but let’s have a chat and have some coffee,” I said following him to the couches. “So what’s the plan?”

“Plan?” he asked cautiously.

“Are you planning to go to London and end this?” I said drinking the coffee.

“I am not,” he said looking away from me. “But I know Oliver is going to get a plan in place and we’re going to see the Council and give them one more chance before we decide to go to London. But I have to stay back to ensure the vampires and anyone else that wants to come at us cannot take the pack down.”

“I want to go with you.”

“No,” he said shaking his head. “Oliver wants you to stay here, you are weak and we don’t know why Detective Marks wanted you. He could be using you for something to control Soma, and we don’t want to change that.”

“Well, I cannot just sit here and wait for Oliver to bring Soma home. What if he is killed and Soma is forced into breeding with King Gideon?”

“I don’t think that is going to happen, you don’t know Oliver that well. He was in control of Drew at the time when she was taken away, Drew has been patient. But Oliver plans on letting him go when he goes to London. Oliver has a reputation and it’s not taken lightly.”

“But I know I can help him. I know he needs the help, Lycan’s arent as weak as the werewolves are taught, just like the werewolves aren't all out to kill the Lycans. There are lots of lies out there, and I want to help if I can.”

“Why don’t you go take your run and when you come back Oliver might be back and you and he can talk about what the plans are,” he said getting up. “The kitchen is through there why don’t you get something to eat, I know that will help with the healing process it does for us.” he left me sitting there, it was good he wasn't as hostile as I thought he would be, but he needed to know I wasn't going to sit back here and wait for them to bring my best friend home.
