Chapter 20
Detective Marks POV
Watching Soma’s apartment for any movement, she had a friend come into town. I am assuming he is one of those Lycan protectors that have been looking for her. I’ve killed off three of the five, so two more. The one that she is with now I don’t know him, usually I’m good about my research and nothing checks out on him. I know his name is Nick, and he flew in from London several hours ago, but that is all I’ve found.
“Are you sure this is the girl they are looking for?” Tony asked.
“Yeah, I am sure,” I said without looking at him. “When they move I expect you to follow closely because as you know Lycans are pretty harsh.
“Don't worry we’ve handled them in the past,” he said cracking his knuckles. “Why don’t we just take them tonight and see what they know. Maybe we can kill the Lycan and be done with it.”
“Perhaps.” Soma and her friend came out. “Showtime,” I said glancing at him, tonight we will try and break them and see how much they know.
I followed two cars behind them, watching in my rearview mirror to make sure Tony was keeping up. I wasn't sure where they were going, probably to dinner, after that, I would make an excuse and pull them over and separate them.
I was right when they pulled into an Italian restaurant, now we will wait for them to come out and it’s showtime. Tony slid into the passenger side.
“So what’s next Boss?”
“We wait until they leave, I’m going to pull them over and you’ll come a little later as backup, we have to make this look real,” I said glancing at him. “No fuck ups.”
“Don't worry we’ve done this in the past, the only difference is I’m sure they don’t have guns and we’re not getting in a battle tonight.”
“I wouldn't say that, we don’t know this Lycan, I’ve never seen him before so we’re going to have to be careful when we do approach him. Make sure you have your specialized handcuffs ready, if he shifts you’re dead.”
“Yeah, yeah I know. I have a damn scar from the last ones we went up against.” Tony said looking out the window.
“You and me both man, but we’ve learned a lot,” I said looking back at the restaurant. “It’s showtime, remember to follow a few cars behind and pull over when I turn my lights on, I’ll call you when I am ready for you.”
Soma and her friend seemed like they were enjoying themselves, her friend made the error to swerve a little, which gave me a reason to pull them over. Turning on my lights, the driver pulled over and I got out and slowly walked to the Soma’s side.
“Good evening, please turn off the engine.” I snapped he did as I said. “Well, I didn’t think I’d catch you with another male,”
“My life is none of your business.” Soma snapped. “Why the hell did you pull us over? Don’t tell me we were speeding because I know we weren’t.”
“No apparently not, however, your friend is drinking under the influence of alcohol. Please I need both of you to step out of the car,” I said pulling Soma’s door open and forcing her out of the car and onto the ground. “Come over here!” I growled at Nick.
Nick did as I requested, I instantly handcuffed him and forced him down on the curb next to Soma.
“Geez man, I had one fucking drink!” Nick snapped.
“Shut up!” I snapped. “Once the other unit is here, he’ll be taking you, I have some unfinished business with Soma to take care of,” I said glancing at her.
Tony arrived just in time, I was excited to get this going. “Alright get the hell up,” I growled at Nick. Once Tony had Nick out of the way, it was time for some fun.
“Now we can finish this,” I said looking into her eyes.
“I don’t know what you want with me, I didn’t do anything wrong!” Soma growled.
Forcing her against the car, I handcuffed her hands behind her back. “We’re going to take a little drive,” I said before shoving her into the back of my car.
“Just let me go!”
Once we were at my hide-out, I pulled her from the backseat. She screamed but I pushed her to the ground. “No one is going to hear your screams, Soma!” I growled. “I warned you to stay away from Oliver, and now you have a date with him, are you testing my patience?” I growled kicking her in the stomach. “I am losing my patience with you, Soma. Your father would be so disappointed in you.”
“Fuck you!” she growled. “Don't bring the dead into this!”
I laughed maniacally, “you don’t know.” I said pacing in front of her.
“Let’s go, I have a prison out here, and I think it’s best to keep you here,” I growled forcing her to walk faster.
“You know you’re going to go down for this,” Soma said almost out of breath.
“No one is going to know you are out here.” I snapped. “Don't worry no one is going to miss you. Your friend isn't a friend either, he was sent by your father to protect you and he failed that.”
“What the hell are you talking about?” She snapped. “Nick is a friend, my father has been dead for a while.”
She had no idea what I was talking about, this was going to be a lot more fun for me. I pushed her to the ground. “Stay!” he growled. I unlocked the cabin and pulled her inside, forcing her into the corner.
I needed to call another vampire to assist with this since Tony was busy with Nick. I needed to ensure we kept Soma away from Oliver and his pack. “I have the girl,” I said glancing at her. “Yeah at the cave, see you soon,” I said closing my phone. “We have some guests coming,” I said smiling.
“I need to go to the bathroom,” Soma said.
I looked at her and rolled my eyes. “You do realize if you try and escape you will be killed out here,” I warned walking over to her.
“I am not even sure where I am,” Soma said before I unhandcuffed her.
In a split second, she hit me, and I stumbled back. The girl was impressing me, I didn’t think she had it in her to attack me, now I know and will be expecting it.
“Soma!” I yelled. “I told you running from me is going to get you hurt!”
I paced back and forth but my specialized trainer can track anything, and it wouldn’t take him long. “Didn't take you long,” I said standing on the porch.
“I’m the best tracker there is, plus she’s hurt,” he said looking down at her.
“How do you know this is the girl?” the man asked.
“The mutts,” I said shrugging my shoulders. “The only way to know for sure is to meet with the Lycan King and force his hand,” I said looking at Soma. “Put her in the corner we’ll have to be careful now that she wants to try and run.”
“Lycan King?” she quizzed.
I rolled my eyes, and walked over to her, and blew a blinding tree into her face. Once she was unconscious I was able to relax a little.
“You sure this isn't going to be permanent?” I asked.
“Not unless you overuse it, but yes it should wear off after a few days, that way you can make plans on what you’re wanting to do,” he said walking closer to the girl. “I can see why she would be the prophecy child,” he said touching her face.
“Well don’t get too attached I’m using her to end the Lycans. Gideon and his Lycans have been a sore in my ass for far too long. I just need to figure out why she is out here as a stray and not in the Kingdom.”
“Well it could have something to do with her parents?” he said looking at me. “I will find out more about her if you want, I have Lycan contacts that are close to the castle. Maybe we can find out more about her that way rather than the way you’re doing it.”
“It seems my way isn't getting us far,” I said leaning against the wall. “Maybe I should see how smart these mutts are and leave her here. Either they will find her or she will die out here alone.” I said handcuffing her hands.
“Indeed,” he said walking towards the door. “We’ll be in touch.”
Waiting until he left, I looked back at Soma. I knew she was going to be pissed when she woke up, but the herb was only temporary I needed her to know I was being serious, but I figured she would keep pressing my buttons. I left her there that night, waiting for the call from the emergency room doctor telling me she was brought it.
