Chapter 21

Nick’s POV

Being forced away from Soma, I was not happy. I wanted to shift, but she doesn’t know my secret, and those vampires probably had some kind of herb to weaken me. I tried to break free from the handcuffs, but I could feel they were coated with something. Either they knew what I was, or they played it safe because of the werewolves in the area.

“Where the fuck are you taking me?” I snapped at the Detective. “That fucker hurts Soma, I’m going to kill each one of you slowly.”

“Relax mutt,” he said looking at me in the rearview mirror. “He’s not going to hurt her yet, but in time he will. We need her.”

“Yeah like the Lycan King is going to stop killing you blood demons.” I spat at him.

“You never know, especially how valuable she is,” he said with a smile on his face.

I wanted to rip it off and eat it before he died, but I knew I had to keep my cool in case this blood bag wanted to try something funny. I knew I had to get in contact with my other brothers and let them know things are going south. This wasn't good, I was told to protect her and I failed her. The Lycan King was going to have my head.

“Don't worry Lycan she won't miss you Marks is going to take care of her so that none of you mutts wants to be around her.”

“He does anything to her the Lycan King will flip and you will suffer.”

“Yeah he isn't going to do anything now that he knows we have the girl,” he said turning down a dirt road. “I’m going to put you in your environment, I expect you to leave town, otherwise Marks will have you killed. He’s working on the Stone brothers and doesn’t need you in the way of our plans.”

“You think I’m going to leave, and let you do what you want with my girl?”

“You won’t have a choice, when we’re done tonight, you are not going to have any memory of why you are here,” he said turning the car off. “And if your memory returns, you will suffer,” he said before getting out of the car.

Did he think he could get rid of me? I growled when he opened the door. This wasn't going down the way he wanted it, I wanted to have him for my feast for the night. Vampire flesh was a rare delicacy when allowed to have it anyways. This one was fair game, I wasn't going to follow the rules tonight the Lycan King would understand.

He pulled me out of the car and pushed me to the ground. He kicked me a few times before I started to shift, now he was in big trouble.

“Oh no you don’t!” he growled stabbing me in the back with something.

Instantly I felt pain, I wasn't sure what he used, not until my Lycan stopped communicating with me.

“Fuck, blood bane.” I gritted through my teeth. It was the worst thing to use against a Lycan, it made us human, now I was at a disadvantage.

He started to kick the shit out of me, I wasn't sure if I could do anything. I tried again to break the handcuffs but they were too strong for me. After what seemed like an hour, he stopped, made a phone call, and then injected me with something, which in turn knocked me out.

Opening my eyes, the sun was out. Fuck he knocked me out for hours. Moving my arms, I knew he took the handcuffs off. I had a headache from hell, that was one of the downfalls from Blood Bane, this was bad.

I wasn't sure where I was, but I needed to get back to Soma’s store, there was a distress beacon there, I knew she wouldn't know what it was, but if the vampires saw it, they probably knew we were nearby. I needed to see if they released Soma, and if not I needed to find her before they did something to her.

I wasn't sure what their plans were for her, but knowing the vampires it was probably sinister and they would try and force the Lycan King Gideon to cease the war, and surrender. Gideon had been looking for her for the longest time. After her mother was killed, her father denounced the Lycans and move her away.

He was later found, and brought before the courts, and forced into exile, we were told she was adopted out for her protection. Gideon was furious about this, we knew she would one day find out what she was, and the vampires would try and convince or force her into their world. Gideon was right all this time, now it was too late to go back and fix things. I needed to get her back from them, and then the Lycans would come here and wipe out any vampires that won't submit.

Walking for what seemed like hours, I finally found her store. It was dark and locked so I knew she wasn't here. I opened the door and found the distress beacon, and set it off. I wasn't sure how long it would take anyone to respond, but we needed to act fast.

The chime from the door startled me, I didn’t even lookup. “Sorry store is closed.”

“Where’s Soma?” a familiar smell invaded my nose. I looked up and a man stood there, I knew he was a werewolf. “Wolf.” I gritted through my teeth. “Soma isn't around at the moment.”

“Who the hell are you?” the other one growled.

“I am a friend, I am waiting for my friends to come and help me find her.”

“What the hell do you mean to find her?” the first one growled.

“Don't worry about it, what can I do for you?” I said getting impatient.

“Tell me what the fuck is going on,” he growled. “She is my world, and if something has happened to her I will make everyone pay.”

“Look its none of your business wolves!” I growled. I was already on edge, and this werewolf was beginning to piss me off.

“I’m her fucking mate!” he growled throwing me into a wall, but I landed on my feet without any problems.

“She doesn’t have a mate.” I countered. “Now if you don’t want to die, I’d suggest you leave!”

“Die?” he laughed. “You aren’t human that is for sure, and you’re not a vampire so what the fuck are you?”

“I am Lycan you fucking mutt,” I growled. “I was sent here to protect Soma from everyone including you. Don’t make me kill you.”

“Wait!” the other one said. “Oliver he can get a meeting with the Lycan King.”

“So you’re Oliver?” I quizzed. “I’ve been warned about you. Something along with the lies from the King himself to kill you.” I smiled when he flinched. “So if you value your life, get the hell away.”

“Look I don’t know why the Lycan King wants us away from her.” the other man spoke. “But Oliver is her mate, and there isn't anyone keeping her from him.”

“Does she know?” I quizzed.

“No,” Oliver said hanging his head. “I’ve only found out about her and what she is. Does she know?”

“No,” I said shaking my head. “It’s a long story, and honestly I don’t have time or the energy to explain things to you. I need to get in touch with my people so we can get a search team together.”

“We’ll help,” Oliver said. “Please.”

I wasn't sure if they were telling the truth or if they were with Marks. I honestly needed the help, and couldn’t pass this up. If we showed Gideon that we could work together, maybe some of the laws could be changed.

“Fine,” I said rolling my eyes. “But if you step on my toes or get in my way, I will kill you mutt.” I snapped.

“You really should warm up to me,” Oliver said rolling his eyes. “I’m going to be around a lot more once Soma accepts me as her mate.”

“If.” I snapped. “Please let me work, where can I find you?”

“Across the street,” Oliver said.

“Oh so you’re the date that she was supposed to have tonight, nice she has good tastes. I will come and find you when I have a plan in place.”

He nodded and left me alone to gather my head. I was taken to the woods, so she was probably taken to the same place. I still wasn't sure what they had planned, but it wasn't good. I just hoped Gideon sends me some help, I wasn't prepared for this to go down like this, I was pissed at myself.

Finally, my phone rang, picked it up I kind of regretted it.

“So you failed?”
