Chapter 34

Soma’s POV

Today was the day I was going to see where Oliver lived, I was afraid and excited at the same time. Nick was already gone for the day, he didn’t say where he was going, but I figured he was doing his own thing. Maybe he was getting London sick and wanted to go back. I would let him, now that I felt something would happen with Oliver and me, I didn’t feel so alone and weird being here.

Getting ready and then had some tea before Oliver would come and pick me up. He gave me the option to stay the night, Nick thinks it would be a great idea for me to get to know him. But I was afraid it might lead to something I am not prepared for.

My phone rang, I didn’t know the number. I wasn't sure if I should answer it but decided why not.

“Hello?”

“Is this Soma?”

“Yes, may I help you?”

“Stay away from Oliver, he’s going to get you killed.” the voice on the other end spoke.

“What?” I asked. “Who is this?”

“I warn you now if you go with him, you will bring death and destruction to his pack lands, he will die because of you,” he said before hanging the phone up.

I wasn't sure what to think, it scared me a little bit about what was said. Were they lying and trying to get me scared? Was it Detective Marks trying to force me away from him? I didn’t know, and I wasn't sure going with Oliver would be a wise idea now.

A knock on the door startled me, part of me wanted to run and open the door and hope it’s Oliver, but another part of me wanted to stay where I was and not open the door. I was afraid for him, and I knew telling him would probably make him leave me. I was scared.

The knocking continued, it had to be Oliver. I stood up and walked over to the door and looked in the peephole, Oliver stood there. I opened the door and tried to put a fake smile on.

“Are you okay?” he asked touching my face.

“Yeah, but I don’t think I should go with you to your pack lands,” I said taking a step back so he could come inside.

“What happened?”

“Someone called and told me you would get hurt if I went with you,” I said closing the door. “I don’t know what is going on, and why everyone seems to want us apart.”

“You need to come with me, it’s not safe for you here,” he said walking closer to me. “Please trust me, I cannot protect you when you are alone here.”

“Oliver I cannot just abandon my life because someone wants to scare me into being scared,” I said with a sad face. “I know you want me safe, but my store.”

“I will keep you safe and your store, I promise,” he said touching my face. “Come I promise no one is going to hurt me, I want to show you my pack lands. I am sure you want to get away from this crappy city don’t you?”

“I do but I don’t want to be the reason you get hurt,” I said with tears threatening to come out.

“Don't worry about me, I’ve been through this dance before. Detective Marks who I am assuming is messing with you with your phone, he’s a puppet, I am not concerned about him. Yes, he hurt you, and I will deal with him when the time is right. But he wouldn't dare try and hurt me, he will lose his life.”

“I don’t want to be the reason you kill anyone either Oliver.”

“You wouldn't be,” he said opening the door. “Come on, my pack is expecting me to come home with a beautiful woman, they are all excited to meet you and show you around. I promise tonight is going to be fun, and you won’t have to worry.”

“I’m not sure,” I said shaking my head.

“Come on, I promise,” he said extending his hand. “If something happens which it won't I will protect you and keep you safe.”

“Okay.”

I wanted to believe him, but that conversation I just had with the person on the phone makes me wary of this. I wanted to stay home and wait for Nick, but I could see Oliver wanted to show me he could keep me safe.

We drove in silence most of the way. I watched the road signs so I could kind of get an idea of where we were heading. We were heading far away from my store, I was a little worried he might want me to stay with him forever, I just hoped he understood me. Maybe I was overthinking things and everything will be great, and I won't want to leave.

When we turned down a dirt path my heart was racing. Were we almost there?

“We’re almost there,” Oliver said breaking the silence. “About ten minutes and we’ll be behind a wall and safe.”

“I’m a little nervous coming here,” I admitted. “But I know you aren't expecting anything, I don’t think I am either.”

“Good, I just want you to have some fun, and even make some friends. I know you don’t have but Nick so it might be nice to have a couple of friends here,” he said pulling up to the gate.

“Alpha.” one of the guards spoke.

“We have a guest.”

“Yes,” he said looking at me. “Micah warned you were bringing a friend, everyone should be on their best behavior.”

“Good see you for dinner,” Oliver said before driving away.

“You don’t have to get anyone to act around me,” I said shaking my head. “Now I am going to wonder if this is right or not.”

“Don't listen to his worlds, my wolves like to get crazy. I asked them to tone it down for the night to give you a little break from the chaos.”

“Oh, I see,” I said as he pulled in front of the mansion. “Wow, you live here?” I said without my mouth open.

“Well most of the pack members live here, but I have the top floor to myself, and that is where you will be staying as well. My pack members know not to come up, so you won't have to worry about them bothering you, not unless you want them to.”

“I see,” I said as my door open and Micah was there.

“Welcome Soma, so glad you could make it here,” he said helping me out of the car.

“Thanks, I will a little worried, but Oliver and I had a chat and he convinced me.” I have smiled as I tucked my hair behind my ear. “This place is amazing!” I said glancing around.

The place was covered in trees and green everywhere. I don’t think I’ve ever been anywhere this pretty before. I looked at Oliver he was watching me.

“How about we go inside and I’ll show you around.”

“Dinner will be in an hour, so you two have plenty of time,” Micah said walking next to me.

“Thanks, Micah, we will chat later,” Oliver said pulling me into him. I didn’t react too much, so he didn’t let me go.

It felt nice with him so close to me, and his scent was overwhelmingly awesome. I took in a deep breath, Oliver giggled at me.

“Smell something you like?” he teased.

“Maybe, you,” I said with a wink. I knew I was flirting, but it felt so natural being with him. The tingles from him were something I’d never experienced before, I wasn't sure if it was this mate bond he spoke about. It didn’t matter, we were together, now when we make it official is another story. I wasn't in a rush, and I hoped Oliver wasn't either.

We walked into the house, it was even bigger on the inside. It was decorated modernly, and you could tell everyone had the same tastes the way people were dressed. I felt kind of out of place here since I felt underdressed, everyone had dresses or dress clothes on.

“Don't worry a lot of them just got off work,” Oliver said pulling me towards the stairs. “Come I want to show you our floor,” he said leading me up the four flights of stairs. I was winded and felt embarrassed.

“Geez, I think this is something I am going to have to get used to.” I giggled when we stopped by double doors.

“Your room is here,” he said pushing the door open. “Unless of course, you want to sleep in my bed,” he said with a smile.

“We’ll have to wait and see.” I giggled. “But this is lovely,” I said as we walked into the room. This place was amazing, I was surprised the room was a spacious as it was. The bed sat near the window, the room was covered in purple and white. He must have known my favorite colors.
