Chapter 53

Soma’s POV

Morning peaked around, I jumped in the shower and changed into something for today. We were going to work today, so it was going to be something fun. I couldn’t wait to see my shop, I did miss it, and that was something I wasn't sure I wanted to give up. I knew Oliver and I being together makes the businesses a lot more fun, but I promised myself I wouldn't compete with him or anyone else. If people liked my tea then they would come to my shop.

Walking down the stairs I could hear voices, Oliver and Micah were talking near the stove. They didn’t hear me walk in which was surprising.

“So the Council is going to force our pack to give our Luna over?” Micah asked, his back was to me so he didn’t know I was standing there.

“They could, but I don’t think they know how much death I will bring them if they try and force her to do anything. I don’t want to lose Soma, and I will die trying to keep her from them.” Oliver spoke without knowing I was there. “But if things get worse, I hope we can get her out of there safely, I would die if something happens to her.”

“I don’t think anything is going to happen, we just have to have faith. Maybe some of the laws need to be changed, but I don’t want to go to war over the Council, if Soma wants to stay here then I think that is the best thing for anyone. She will be happy here, she can still go to the Lycan territory and that will settle it.”

“See I like the way you think.” I finally said clearing the men out of their thinking. “We will do this our way, we don’t have to give me up,” I said walking closer to Oliver. “I am going to show the Council that I can make my own choices.”

“If they let you speak,” Micah said drinking his coffee. “They are into their tradition, where a woman is only a mate nothing special.”

“Well, that is where they are going to see I am not just a mate.” I snapped. “They are going to understand you cannot force me to do anything.”

They didn’t say anything, I sat down and waited for Oliver to come over. He brought over food and sat down next to me. Micah left us alone, I looked at Oliver for a long time before he spoke.

“I want this to go as easy as possible,” he said clearing his throat. “But I already know this isn't going to go the way we want it to,” he said with a sad face. “But we’re going to do everything in our power to make sure there isn't a war.”

“I don’t want people dying because of me. We will have to figure out another way not killing.” I said looking down at the food in front of me.

“We will try everything I promise. Finish your breakfast after that we’re going to the shops,” he said getting up. “I’m going to grab the things I need for work, I will be back shortly.”

I finished up with breakfast and went back to my room to grab a few things. I was excited, a little nervous too because we weren’t sure how things would be, and if the Council would try anything shady. I had to keep my head and eyes open because I wasn't going to be taken against my will. I wanted to make sure they knew they couldn’t mess with me either.

“Are you ready to go?” Oliver asked walking into my room.

“Yeah, I was just making sure I wasn't forgetting anything today,” I said looking at him and then around the room. “I don’t think I forgot anything now,” I said grabbing my purse. “I think I’m ready to go.”

We got into the car, Micah decided to drive in with us. I sat in the back and watched the scenery. It was nice where they lived, it was a nice change from the small apartment I had. I know I could change it and stay with Oliver but I still wasn't sure we weren’t moving too fast.

I halfway listened to what Oliver and Micah were talking about. Something about their coffee shop so it didn’t have anything to do with me. I was getting nervous as soon as we pulled on our street. I don’t know why I thought Detective Marks would come and bother me, I hoped he didn’t. I didn’t want to deal with his drama today.

“Ready for today?” Micah asked me.

“Yeah, I hope I am super busy today, I need money.” I giggled. “But most of all I hope people haven't forgotten about my shop.”

“I’m sure you’re customers haven't forgotten about your shop,” Micah said with a smile. “Your store is cute and strong, I don’t think they would have forgotten.”

“Eh, you never know,” I said without looking at him.

I knew I wasn't closed for long, but I also knew people don’t wait around when it comes to what they want. I watched my store as we got closer, there were a couple of people outside, but I didn’t know if they were passing by or my customers.

We got out of the car, Micah went and unlocked the coffee shop, Oliver walked over to me and wrapped his arms around me. “So I’m going to be watching you,” he said touching my face. “If someone comes over and bothers you come to the coffee shop.”

“I don’t think we have to worry about someone bothering me, but I will watch out for myself. I will come over when I take a break.” I said touching his face. “Promise me you’ll stay safe too?”

“I’m always safe, but I don’t like it when you are threatened,” he said looking away from me. “But we will figure this out I promise.”

I walked over to my shop and unlocked the door, Oliver was watching me from the door. He disappeared inside once my door was open. I was happy to be here, the weather was nice and I just had a good mood going. I hoped lots of my customers come by today so they could see that I was still open, I hoped everything was great today.

Getting my store ready to be opened, I redid some of my shelves, but everything else I was happy with. I paced around the store until mid-afternoon when someone finally managed to come into the store. They didn’t buy anything but they looked like they would be back, I hoped.

As I was finishing up with another customer, Oliver walked into the store. He was happy, he brought me cookies and my favorite coffee.

“Couldn't wait could you?” I giggled.

“No,” he said shaking his head. “I was missing you more than I thought. How’s business over here?”

“Eh better now that you’ve come, you’ve brought customers,” I said glancing around at the four people that followed him into the store.

“Sorry do you want me to ask them to leave?” he joked.

He moved out of the way so the customers could come and pay for their items. Today was turning into a good day, more and more customers seemed to come in. I felt better knowing they didn’t forget about my little shop.

After Oliver went back to the coffee shop, I closed the store early. I walked over to the coffee shop they were a lot busier than I was, but I didn’t mind. I thought about doing the hot tea and see if that drove in more business, but it was with the money I didn’t have or wanted to take a chance, at least not yet.

“Hey,” Oliver said when he saw me, he didn’t come and hug me because he was with a customer.

“Hey,” I said as I sat down in my favorite spot. I loved watching him work, he was good with the customers. I knew it was because he was such a good leader. He smiled and helped clear the coffee shop until all the customers were sitting and enjoying their coffee.

“We will close in a little while,” he said sitting across from me. “I am ready to go home, this has been one long busy day.”

“Yeah no kidding, I don’t know what I would have done if I was this busy by myself,” I said taking a drink of the coffee he brought over.

“I just say something and I will send some help over.” he mused. “But I know you enough that you won't ask for help, you will suffer through it alone and you don’t have to know.”

“I know, but you have your system going, if I need help I should just hire someone,” I said shrugging my shoulders. “But then again if I don’t start making better money, I don’t know if I will handle another person and be able to pay my bills.”

“Well when that happens, we can figure it out. I will send someone over there and pay them through my store,” he said shrugging his shoulders. “And I won't take no for an answer.”

“Fine you win, can we go home now?”

“Yep, ten minutes,” he said getting up and leaving me there.
