Chapter 111
Nathaniel’s POV
When Mary told me she was going to stop and get Oliver to come to dinner I thought that was the best idea. I know she wanted to keep reassuring him that his mate would be fine and that he wouldn't have to worry about her rejecting him. I know how he feels, I was the same way with Mary. I was afraid she was going to tell me she couldn’t love me because I was going to be King and she couldn’t handle the pressure, but she was amazing. She was the reason I took the throne seriously and I was able to get the people around me, I will always love her for that.
I wanted to show Oliver that he was going to have a huge place here in the palace if he wanted to move his pack to London. I knew that was highly unlikely but it was always going to be an option for him, or if he wants to pass the pack to someone else I could use him here too.
“We’re here.” Mary giggled as they walked into the dining hall. “Where do you want to start?”
“Nowhere.” I giggled. “I want you and Oliver to enjoy this night and tomorrow you can help Oliver get things together so he can take his family home,” I said looking at him. “Even though I would love for you to stay and become one with us, I know you have your pack and have things that need to be addressed.”
“Yes I do,” he said smiling. “But I promise I will bring Soma here to visit. I want her to get to know her real parents and I want to get to know this world and land.”
“I hope you do come here.” he smiled. “But why don’t we have a drink and talk a little more. We have some beef cooking outside, once everything is done we will introduce you and get you acquainted with everyone.”
“Alright, that works,” Oliver said sitting down at the table with Mary.
I wanted to bring some of my warriors in here to chat with Oliver, but I didn’t want to overwhelm him because I know all he was thinking about was being with Soma. I posted a couple of extra guards outside her room because there were still people that I couldn’t trust, and I wanted to know who the rats were before I killed them. I knew I had to be cruel that was the only way some of them would know that I meant business.
I disappeared when Mary sat down with Oliver, I knew she wanted me to get things done. I knew she wanted me to get our clan acquainted with Oliver because she wanted us to become allies and we are, but I don’t know how the Lycans are going to react but I had to make sure they didn’t see him as a threat either.
“You wanted to see my King?” one of my warriors by the name of Mack bowed before me.
“Yes, I want you to meet my daughter's mate, he is a werewolf and also an Alpha,” I said looking at him. “I know, I know we aren't supposed to be mated to others, but the Moon Goddess has other ideas and this could be to help us gain ground and more allies when it comes to the wars that plague our lands.”
“But the stories we were told about them, I don’t know if we could trust them,” he said clearing his throat. “I mean if you think we can trust them, then I think we should start this and get a good friendship or relationship going that way if we need help at least we have a pack or two to help us.”
“I believe what we were taught is wrong,” I said shaking my head. “The little bit of time that I have been around him, he isn't anything like the vile creatures in those texts.”
“So he could be trusted?”
“Yeah, of course, he’s my daughter's mate,” I said looking into the dining hall. “I mean he’s torn right now because my daughter is not well, but he is still here. He is more worried about her rejecting him than the other way around.”
“How did they find each other?”
“She moved to New York, remember Mary said she would find her mate when she moved there. She did, and they found each other and everything went down from there. Now that she is safe, and I can trust him I want to show him that we are welcoming the werewolves with open arms.”
“Yeah, but what does he know about us? I mean what did they teach them about us?”
“As far as I can tell the Council just told them to avoid us, I don’t think they were taught anything bad about us. But that could be all up to their clans to teach, Oliver doesn’t seem to hold anything against us, so I am assuming he is telling me the truth.”
“I will be careful around him in case this is all an act.”
“Mack I doubt this is an act, Mary saw him before we knew about him so I know she isn't telling me a lie to relax me,” I said looking at Oliver, he seemed like he was relaxing and that was a good thing. I knew he still wanted to be with Soma and didn’t want to hang out but he was putting on his best face for us, and that is something I am glad for.
“I promise I don’t think he is lying about anything. He is going to be taking my daughter back to America tomorrow, Mary and I will be joining him, later on, to check out his pack. I want to get a feel for how my daughter will be treated, yes I am scared for her but I don’t think she is going to be treated bad. They might be scared of her because she is half Lycan, but I think she will do fine.”
“Okay,” he said bowing his head. “I will introduce myself to him, and I promise I will play nice.”
I wanted all my warriors to see that we have a new player in our field. We needed all the help we can get, yeah we don’t have issues with the vampires anymore, but we still had to be careful because there are always those rogues that wanted to come through, and they seemed like they were on some kind of magical trip. It was almost impossible to kill them and it sucked because when I was King from the beginning, I had to bury so many. But it was good my main captain was getting along and seemed like he was enjoying talking to Oliver. Oliver still looked resisted but that was due to the whole new idea of being with a Lycan, I probably would be scared shitless.
“Attention everyone!” My voice roared through the dining hall. “I want to explain why we have a guest here. This is going to be my son-in-law Oliver.” I said looking at him. “Yeah, yeah I know he isn't a Lycan but he is better,” I said looking around the room everyone was quietly watching. “You see we’ve been told crazy things about the werewolf community, however, none of it is true. Yes, there are bad ones, aren't there bad ones here in our communities.” I cleared my throat. “My daughter Soma cannot be here tonight, but she wants to be, however she is recovering from the strain of everything that you’ve all heard about that happened here recently.” I continued to explain what I expected of the Lycans and they all seemed relaxed at the idea of having the werewolves as part of our community, and that was what I wanted most. After my speech dinner was served, I sat down with Mary and Oliver.
“You are an impressive speaker,” Oliver said eating his beef tips.
“I know.” I mused. “No in reality I am a horrible speaker, but you have inspired me. So my plane is going to be ready in the morning, Nick and a few others will go with you to make sure you make it home. Nick requests to stay if that is fine.”
“Of course, if you want to leave others with us you are welcome to. I would love to learn as much as I can before Soma is well enough to ask questions about herself.” he smiled.
“Alright I will tell them to stay a few weeks or longer I will leave that up to you.” I smiled at Mary because she seemed to approve of the new me. I didn’t like the old me, and it was time to change. “So when everything is settled I would like to visit.”
“Yes of course,” he said. “We will come and visit when we can, I know you know I have a clan that requires my attention a lot but I promise we’ll be here a lot.”
“Good,” I said after that we ate in silence or light conversation. Tomorrow I would have to say goodbye to my family again but I had a feeling Soma would be open to learning about where she was from, I hoped she wasn't upset with how things went down, but I know things will be alright, per what Mary keeps reminding me.
