Chapter 43

Soma’s POV

Leaving Oliver standing there I wanted to kiss him again but I knew it wasn't the right time. I walked over to my tea shop and unlocked the door. Before going inside, I glanced over at the coffee shop and smiled. I was glad we were getting along so well. I think everything would fall into place, and that was something I was looking forward to. I couldn’t wait to visit his pack lands again, this time I think everything will be different and I won't be put off by anyone asking me weird questions. I should have been more open to his family maybe things would have gone a little differently.

Opening the store I was excited for the day, and when I went over for my break to see Oliver everything just seemed to go right. I finished off my coffee and the last cookie and went to the window to look outside. My smile went to an instant frown when I saw Detective Marks outside talking to a couple of other officers. I wasn't sure why he was there, I know Oliver didn’t do anything and he was probably there to make a scene. I wasn't happy.

Once he went inside, it took everything in me not to rush over there and find out what was happening. I hoped they were just going in there to talk to him and he wouldn't be messed with. That thought was quick, it didn’t take long for Detective Marks to come out of the coffee shop with Oliver handcuffed.

I watched Detective Marks glance over in my direction, either he knew I was watching or he was hoping I was watching. I glanced at Oliver, he was looking over at me, so he knew I was there. He had this calm face I wasn't sure why he was so calm, but I was going down to the police station to talk to Detective Marks and ask him exactly what he thought he was doing. I knew he wasn't doing his job, and now he’s pissed me off. I watched them drive away, I had tears threatening to come out of my eyes but I knew I had to be strong. Detective Marks was taking things too far, and I didn’t like this. I didn’t like how he could just ruin someone's life or happiness just to laugh. Oh no, this wasn't going to happen to me, he wasn't going to take my happiness away from me, I would make him pay for this.

Grabbing my purse, I decided enough was enough. I was going to show Detective Marks my dark side, I wasn't going to show him fear. He was going to second guess me when he wants to try and force me to do things. I wasn't going to let him win, he was going to be the one begging me to stop with this craziness.

Closing my eyes I drove to the police station, I knew I was going crazy just to do this. I knew I could get myself in more trouble than it was worth, but I had to get Oliver free of this man. They had to have known what kind of person Detective Marks was, maybe they did and were scared of him and didn’t want to deal with him anymore. I didn’t know, but I was going to find out.

Getting out of my car, I headed inside. My heart was racing, but so was my adrenaline. I didn’t expect to get very far with this, but I had to try.

“Can I help you?” the person at the desk said.

“Yeah I came, I came here to find out why my boyfriend was arrested,” I said almost in a whisper.

“One second,” she said before leaving me standing there.

I looked around, the police were empty which was kind of nice. I decided to sit down as I didn’t know how long it would take her to find out answers for me, it didn’t matter Detective Marks couldn’t hurt me here so I didn’t care if he saw me here or not. I’m sure she has to ask Detective Marks about it since he was the one that arrested him.

“Come with me.” the lady finally came back. “The Detective is with him now, but he asked me to bring you back to the waiting room,” she said motioning for me to follow her.

I wasn't sure if that was a good idea, but I didn’t have a choice. Detective Marks knew I was here, and he was going to do what he wanted, and he was going to talk to me whether I wanted him to see me or not.

She brought me to a room, there was a man already in there waiting for me. “Please have a seat I will help you as much as I can,” he said motioning for me to take the vacant seat.

I explain why I am here, he seems concerned with everything I’d told him, but I wasn't sure he was buying it, that was when the door opened and Detective Marks walked in. he had a sinister smile on his face, I took a deep breath.

“I don’t want him around me!” I growled.

“Don't worry he isn't going to do anything to you, you are being recorded.” the other Detective spoke. “So please continue explaining your case,” he said standing up and moving back towards the wall.

“Well, Detective Marks has been harassing me and won’t leave me alone! And now he has my boyfriend here for no reason. ” I growled I was pissed and I was letting both of them know it. “I either want to press charges or I want him to leave me alone,” I said looking at Detective Marks when I said it.

“You’re involved in an active investigation if you continue to cooperate with me, you won’t get into trouble.” Detective Marks spoke. “But seeing that I warn you coming here would be a bad thing, you don’t want to listen to me, so I am going to tell you one more time stop telling me to stay away. I am doing my job and trying to protect you.” He smiled at the other detective. “You can leave us, like you said we’re being recorded.”

I was nervous when he sat down across from me. Everything in my head was telling me to get up and leave. I got up and tried to walk past him, he grabbed my arm forcing me down.

“Now where were we?” He growled.

“Please you won’t get away with this!” I whined.

“I could say you attacked me, I have this department under my finger.” He said putting his hands on the wall caging me in. “I warned you coming here would cost you did I not?”

“I, please I just want you to leave me alone,” I said taking in a deep breath. “I just want to live my life, you can do whatever you want to Oliver and his brother, I have nothing to do with them.”

“You’re Oliver’s mate, you have everything to do with this.” He smiled down at me.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about, Oliver and I are two people that work well together,” I said cowering a little.

“I think I’m going to use you to get to Oliver,” he said looking away from me. “I just need to figure out how I am going to do it.”

“I’m not going to help you do anything to him,” I growled. He wasn't going to use me to get to Oliver, I was going to ensure he wasn't anywhere near us. I wish I could show him I was fearless, but that was pretty much out the window.

“I’d suggest you leave and not return here, the next meeting we have here I’m going to take you somewhere far away from here, and there isn't anyone that is going to find you this time. I made that mistake once before, now I know Oliver has friends that are watchers.” He said walking away from me.

My whole body trembled, I didn’t know what I did was going to cost me, or show him that I wasn't afraid of him. I had to keep myself from crying, but as soon as I was outside the tears started and I couldn’t control them. He threatened to use me to get to Oliver, and there was nothing I could do to make this right. The only way things would go better for Oliver is if I leave and never return. That was something I didn’t want to do but would do it if it meant he would live without issues because of me.

My phone vibrated it was Nick.

“Hey,” I said trying to hide I was crying.

“What the matter baby girl?” he said sounding concerned.

“Nothing, I just wish you were here. Things aren't going the way they are supposed to, and I am beginning to go crazy.”

“Did Oliver hurt you?”

“No, no it’s worse. The Detective wants to use me to get to Oliver, and I am trying to figure out a way for all of this to go away. I am thinking about leaving and disappearing for a while.” I said wiping my eyes. “I don’t want to be the reason Oliver has issues, it’s not worth this.”

“Don't worry baby girl Oliver loves you, and I want you to stay there until I get back. When I get back you and I are going to run away together, okay?”

“Okay,” I said trying to smile, but I knew he wasn't coming back. He was needed in London more than I needed him, but that was okay. “I’ll talk to you later,” I said before ending the call. I didn’t want any more drama, I was just going to go home and stay there a few days. I needed a plan.
