Chapter 33
Oliver’s POV
After dropping Soma off at her apartment, I went straight home. Micah was already waiting outside when I pulled up. He looked a little pissed off, but also happy that I made it through the date.
“So what happened? Why did she almost leave?” he asked.
“Because she doesn’t want to accept what she is,” I said shaking my head. “But when she came back to the table I knew she was still curious so, I am bringing her here tomorrow,” I said sitting down. “I don’t want her address as Luna as I’m sure it’s going to freak her out more.”
“So how are you going to introduce her to the pack then?”
“Well, I don’t know if I will,” I said shrugging my shoulders. “At least not the first meeting.”
“Well, what if people see you with her?” Micah quizzed.
“Why don’t we worry about that when we come to it. She is already freaked out enough I don’t want her stressed out more. I am hoping she comes here and loves it, I want her moving here as soon as possible as I don’t like how the vampires are.” I said shaking my head. “After I convince her to move here, then we will worry about making her Luna and all of that.”
“Yeah about that,” Micah said rubbing his neck. “This Lycan King seems to think he is going to force Soma to their world, he doesn’t want you being her mate.”
“How?”
“Her friend Nick, I overheard him on the phone with him. Nick is trying to buy you time but the King threatened to kill him and take her against her will.”
Drew growled.
“Well if he wants to go to war with us, then I will kill him.” I snapped. “She isn't going to be forced to do anything. If she rejects me and goes then it’s on her, but the man isn't coming to our world and forcing her choice.”
“Well, we need more than just our pack then because it seems like this guy claims to be King.”
“So I’m Alpha!” I snapped. “I dare him to come, I will fight for her and if I die at least she knows I love her.”
“Well let’s hope you’re not having to do that, the Lycans are a lot stronger than us. Nick isn't that strong, but then again I don’t know what he is to them,” he said shrugging his shoulders. “But I think if we can convince the Lycan King that she belongs to us, he will allow it. I don’t want to see anyone die.”
“You know just as well as I do, he isn't going to let her go.”
“Oh, and another thing, she’s royal. A Princess I guess.”
“So he wants to marry his daughter?”
“Not exactly, but I don’t think he’s supposed to be King. We need to have a long chat with her friend otherwise things aren't going to make sense, and it will cause more confusion for Soma when everything is said and done.”
One thing at a time Micah, we cannot rush these things, as much as I would love to claim her as mine, I think she would run after I mark her, and I don’t want that.” I said rubbing my neck. “We’ll get through tomorrow and then we’ll see where she is at.”
“Better prepare yourself, there are going to be a lot of questions from pack members, and I know you don’t want them to know she is your mate, but you shouldn’t lie to them, it will make you look weak.”
“Thanks, Micah, when tomorrow comes I will be honest with them,” I said looking down at my hands. I wanted her as my Luna tomorrow but it would be too soon, it made Drew whine in my head, but there was nothing I could do at least not until she was ready.
Micah left me sitting there, he was right. We had to make sure the pack knows she is Luna, but we cannot just throw it on her like she’s known about all of this stuff. Getting up, I needed a shower and a nice stiff drink. Once I was relaxed I might be able to sleep. Tomorrow was going to be fun and I couldn’t wait to show her all around. I hoped she liked this place, it was safe and we have everything you need.
Looking around my room, I knew it needed a good cleaning in case she wanted to see it, she needed her room, which I needed to get done now.
“Micah send an Omega to clean out one of the guest's rooms, I want it stocked with nice stuff for Soma.”
“Already ahead of you, she’ll have a room across from you.” he mind-linked back.
I felt better knowing she would have her own space, it would only be for a little while, once we’re official I want to mark her and make her mine. I knew I was jumping ahead of myself, but when the mate bond is there it’s hard to control myself. I knew I wouldn't force her into anything, but I would try my hardest to show her what love is and help her come to the werewolf side of things.
“All done,” Micah said coming into my room. “So I have prepared the Gamma for her arrival, I told him not to say anything about being our Luna.”
“Okay,” I said getting up and pouring myself something strong to drink. “I am hoping we don’t have to hide this for long,” I said looking at him. “But we cannot rush her, it’s the worst thing I could do.”
“What if Marks does something to her, we cannot allow it,” he said leaning against the wall.
“I know, we still have warriors watching over her.”
“But they’ve already failed, she was taken and hurt pretty bad,” he said clearing his throat. “Are you going to ask her to stay here?”
“I want to, but I know that might freak her out too much,” I said taking a drink of my scotch. “I’d be nice if she agreed.”
“Maybe her friend can convince her to come and stay here, I know he needs to head back to wherever he came from. I am sure he is dying to go home.”
“I doubt that, they’ve been friends for a long time, I am sure he’ll stay until everything is taken care of,” I said walking over to the window. “He is going to probably get in our way when it comes to taking care of her. I don’t trust him.”
“I don’t trust him either, he hasn't given us a reason to trust him, at least not yet,” he said. “Maybe I should see if I can find information on him.”
“I’m sure it’s well hidden especially if he’s Lycan.”
“How do we know the Lycan King isn't going to force him to turn her over or kill him to get to her.”
“I don’t know Micah, but we need to be sure we can handle whatever is coming. I am sure he will want the blood to get what he wants.”
“Well, are you willing to put the pack up into a war for her?”
“Are you fucking serious right now Micah?” I snapped. I was pissed that he would even ask that question. He knows the mate bond, and he knows what it does to you until you are with your other half. He doesn’t think I will go to war for her, well he has another thing coming.
“Sorry you’ve been shy about this whole thing, and you haven't brought it up,” he said walking closer to me. “You know we will have your back when it comes down to it, but I think you should get your eggs in rows because if the pack finds out anything it could go against you.”
“I don’t think the pack will go against me, Micah!” I snarled. “You are making this out to be a mistake, please tell me your thoughts.”
“I don’t think this is a mistake, however having her so far away from here is,” he said taking a deep breath. “I just have a bad feeling about everything, and I don’t want to see you or her get hurt is all.”
“I am working on that Micah, but I cannot just force her to stay here.” I snapped. “I know you think it would be easy for me to just force her hand here, but that would probably be unwise because she’ll run at the first chance she gets.”
“I know Oliver, but I feel like she needs to see it your way and understand that her life is in your hands, and with her somewhere else, it’s putting everyone at risk.”
“I have to take this slow!” I snapped. “Please go to bed, I have to get up early and ensure the rest of the packhouse is in order before I bring her here, and you better behave tomorrow. I will hurt you if you don’t.”
He didn’t say anything but left me alone. I was angry that he was worried I was putting everyone at risk. Maybe I was, but I had to be careful with her, I didn’t want to lose her.
