Chapter 59

Oliver’s POV

Getting to the Council house, I was a little worried about what was coming. Drew wanted to take over and deal with this situation with violence normally I would let him do what he wanted because he needs to do things his way, but since Soma was here I wasn't going to take a chance and have something happen to him her. I knew she wanted to do this the right way but this was killing me. My heart was already hurting and she hasn't rejected me yet.

Sitting down with Soma, I wasn't sure what to expect. I wasn't sure when the Lycan King would be here, I didn’t care. If I had a chance I would try and kill him and then deal with everything. I knew Soma would be upset, but I can't let her do there, was no way.

Soma grabbed my hand and squeezed it, I knew she was scared too. She didn’t want to go through this, and she didn’t want me to go through this but here we are.

“When is this going to start?” I snapped not meaning to but Drew was on the surface.

“As soon as the Lycan King and his men get here.” one of them said looking at me. “We cannot start until everyone is here,” he said before going back to talking with the others.

“So I get to see this Lycan King?” I whispered to Soma.

She didn’t say anything, that was okay. I knew she was thinking about what she would do without me, but I wasn't going to let her leave not willingly. They will have to force her out of my arms, I wasn't going to let her go. They were crazy to think we would be so willing to do this.

I looked at her again, I could tell she was holding tears back, I pulled her closer to me to try and make her feel safe, but I don’t think I was doing a good job. I don’t think there was anything I could say to make this easier on her. I wanted to know why her parents gave her up when she was a baby. Were they protecting her from the Lycan King? I wanted to ask all these questions, but I knew no one knew the answers and it would just fall on deaf ears.

“Please talk to me.” I leaned over to Soma.

“I don’t know what to say,” she admitted. “I am worried when this all starts, I have a feeling you’re not going to let this play out.”

“I will, but I cannot say if Drew will. He’s already on the surface and he isn't playing around. He already wants to kill everyone here, and I am afraid that I wouldn't be able to stop him.” he said squeezing her hand. “I will do everything I can to ensure he doesn’t get crazy.”

“I don’t want to see you get hurt,” she said with a sad face. “I don’t know if I could go on knowing you got hurt because of me.”

“No, I would be getting hurt because I know this is a bunch of crap and they are doing this to make the Lycan King happy. If they didn’t know about us, then he wouldn't care. He would be in his lair living and doing what he does.” I said shaking my head. “I want to know the reason they gave you up for adoption, something tells me it’s because they wanted to protect you from the Lycan King.”

“I don’t know,” she said shrugging her shoulders. “As far as I remember my parents gave me up because they couldn’t take care of me, and they felt I had a better chance with someone else,” she said looking away from me.

I knew her talking about her adoption was painful, I don’t know what happened with her adoptive parents but it wasn't good. Maybe they tried to lie about everything and when she found out about it, they took offense, I wasn't going to ask it didn’t matter at least right now.

“Like I said I think this has something to do with them,” I said watching the men chatting about us.

“As far as my parents I don’t know anything about them,” she said looking at me. “My adoptive parents told me only a few things, I don’t even know if they knew they were Lycan’s or not,” she said looking away from me.

“I understand, I guess we’re going to have to wait to see what happens here,” he said getting up. “I need to get some air,” I said to the six men staring at me.

“Go ahead but don’t belong, the Lycan King will be here shortly, and then we can begin.”

With that, I left Soma sitting at the table. I don’t think they would do anything without me there, they would be crazy to try, and I know for a fact they know how we are when it comes to being around our mates.

Part of me wished I would have marked her, I wondered if this would have done anything to help our case or if it would have been worse like I thought it would have been. Drew wanted me to mark her in front of the Lycan King just to see what he would do. I wished he would attack me so I could snap his neck. I knew seeing myself bigger and better than he was wasn't good, he was probably stronger since he is their King.

Walking outside, I almost wanted to shift. Drew was driving me crazy. “Calm down Drew,” I growled through my teeth.

“Hey, Oliver,” Nick said walking closer to me.

“Hey, what are you doing here?” I asked looking away from him. I already knew the answer to why he was here. He was to ensure she didn’t fight, and he was probably here to make her more comfortable when she had to leave my side.

“I was told to be here,” he said with a sad face. “I am more of a support for Soma than anything, I know if they decide she goes back to London I will go with her. I will help her with things until she gets them.”

“So you’re a willing person huh?”

“Oliver, I don’t have a choice in this. Even if we had the manpower to stop this, the Council would come at us with full force, and a lot more people would die,” he said clearing his throat. “So yes I am here willingly to ensure my best friend Soma doesn’t get hurt in this turf war. I don’t like this any more than you do.”

“Oh, I am sure I hate it more than you do.” I snapped at him. I didn’t mean to, but with Drew, at the surface, it was hard to control my tongue. “Besides how do I know you’re not the reason she was called her today?”

“What, what are you saying?” he growled, I could tell his Lycan was coming out. I didn’t care he needed to know how I felt and I needed him to know that I didn’t trust him.

“I am saying I don’t trust you,” Drew said before I could stop him. “You disappear to London and then all the sudden the Council comes and wants to take our mate away?” Drew growled stalking towards him.

“Look Oliver I went to London to find her father, he is supposed to help. I don’t even know how this is going to work. Her father Nathaniel is King, but no one remembers because of King Gideon. If we can convince the Council that King Gideon is not a true King then all of this will go away.”

“I don’t think it’s that simple,” I growled. “You think you can just come here and tell me we just have to show them that King Gideon isn't truly the king and everything would go well?” I was pacing, my anger was coming off me like a train. “This isn't going to work, the fact that you are here shows you are with the King.”

“Enough!” someone growled.

We both turned to the voice, it was the head of the Council. “King Gideon is here, we start in a few minutes, once the two of you are done bickering I’d suggest you get in here so we can begin. If you two don’t want to be a part of this, we can continue without you?” he said before disappearing inside.

“I guess it’s time to face the music,” I said looking at Nick. I wanted to rip him apart, I knew he was the reason everything fell into place for the Lycan King. There was no proving anyone was lying, the Council didn’t care about that. They just wanted the peace we had and having a Lycan Princess with a werewolf wasn't peaceful enough for them. They were throwing my mate bond away to make someone happy that won’t be able to do anything but make Soma miserable.

“I guess we should head inside,” Nick said walking past me.

I stood there for a few minutes before I managed to walk into the meeting just before the Lycan King would be brought it. I knew it was going to be harder to control Drew, I just hoped it didn’t get anyone killed by the Lycan King.
