Chapter 37

Nick’s POV

I knew sending Soma to Oliver was the best thing for her right now. With King Gideon trying to pressure me into bringing her to London, I was starting to drive myself crazy. Yes, she belonged with her kind, but her parents didn’t want that life for her, and I don’t know the reasons behind it. She doesn’t know her past, and maybe her parents wanted to keep it that way. I needed to meet with Nathaniel and see why he didn’t want his daughter growing up as the Princess she is.

My phone vibrates I was hoping it was Soma, but it wasn't. “Hello, King Gideon,” I said trying to sound like I was relaxed but I was anything but that.

“When are you bringing the Princess home, the longer she is out there, the longer she is in danger,” he growled.

“She is safe right now, and she doesn’t want to come home with me. She likes her life here in New York.” I said walking around her store. “Besides why is the reason Nathaniel and his wife brought here is beyond me. She doesn’t even remember her real parents.”

“I don’t care if she doesn’t want to come here, she needs to come here. Don’t make me send others, they aren't going to be as nice as you. I am trying to make this as easy as possible for both you and her but Nick you are pushing my bad buttons and I don’t want to have to explain to Soma why her best friend was killed.”

“So you’d kill me just to force her home?”

“Yes and I am losing my patience, so you better think about when you want to bring her here otherwise she isn't going to have a choice. I will even convince her that you are the reason we had to force her home,” he growled at me. I could tell he was losing patience. I didn’t like he wanted to force her into marriage. She wasn't going to have a good life with Gideon and that was something that was stopping me from tricking her into visiting London with me.

“Give me some more time, Soma is complicated and if I try and force anything from her, she is going to hate me. You have me the task of being her friend, I know her better than you and I wish you would give me more time.”

“Nick, I am giving you enough time, I suggest you don’t play games, because this will end up against you, you are the only one is will hate in the end. Yes, she isn't going to like being married to me, but that doesn’t matter. She will bring in my pups and she will work as a slave.”

“But I thought you would love her?” I questioned, I knew he wouldn't love her that is another reason I hope she accepts Oliver.

“I will love her during the time we mate, but she isn't my mate. She will just be another woman I get to share my bed with. Enough you have thirty more days before I send in my men to take her against her will. Whether I do it or you do it Nick it doesn’t matter she will be brought here and forced to mate with me.” he said before hanging up the phone.

“Fuck!” I growled.

Now I knew he was serious, I needed to find Nathaniel, and the only way to do that is to go back to London. I know he didn’t travel, so finding him was going to be not as fun as I would like it. But if he could help me convince Soma that Oliver and the werewolves are a better choice than coming back and being a slave, I had to do it.

I decided I needed to let Soma know I was heading to London, but I had people watching her store and she shouldn’t worry about it while she is with Oliver.

“Hey, Soma!” I said trying to act calm. “So listen baby girl I have to run back to London one of my clients is throwing a fit, and I need to handle it before there is a great meltdown.”

“Aw I’m going to miss you, I wish you could come and say bye, I don’t even get to hug you,” she said sounding extremely sad.

“Don't worry just keep your focus on Oliver and you won't even know I am gone. I will be back as soon as I can, but like I said this client is mean and I don’t want him burning any bridges. I’ve finally got a client base in London.”

“Alright well call me when you get there, I want to make sure you made it there safe,” she said I could almost see her smiling. She knew I loved London, and I knew she was dying to visit, but I wasn't giving in to King Gideon not yet at least.

After I hung up with her I called the airport and got my ticket squared away. I hated leaving knowing Soma was still unsure about this whole thing, but I had to leave. I had to stop King Gideon from forcing the girl to do anything she didn’t want to do. She wasn't from our world, she didn’t know what it was like to be a Lycan. I wasn't sure how I couldn’t smell it on her until she met Oliver, it could be because of the mate bond I didn’t know though.

I went back to Soma’s house and packed the few things that I had, I fed her cat before heading to the airport. My stomach was in knots, I wasn't sure this was going to work out the way it was supposed to, but I had to try. I had to make sure she knew the truth as to why everything was happening, and why Gideon was so interested in her. He wasn't the true King, but anyone that wanted to go against him would die, so a lot of people just went with it.

Sitting near the window once we were allowed to board the plane, I felt a little more relaxed but knew that would be short-lived when Gideon found out I was back in London. I was hoping he wouldn't find out, but he had spies all over the place. He loved punishing people when they were bad, and he didn’t mind killing anyone either.

Closing my eyes as the plane took off, now there was nothing I could do, I had to keep to my plan. I just hoped Nathaniel was easy to find, and he would help make sure his daughter had the right to choose what she wanted to do. I hoped he didn’t bow out and let King Gideon get his way. That would be messed up seeing he hid her for a long time before King Gideon found out about her.

Getting to London made my anxiety go up as soon as I left the plane. I needed to get to the hotel and then to some of the local pubs. I wasn't sure where to start, we weren’t that far from the castle, so I knew I would have pretty good luck looking around here. I just hoped he was around tonight. I was tired, but I knew my time was short, especially if Gideon knew I was there instead of in New York with Soma.

“Checking in?” the woman asked.

“Yeah, that’s usually why people come here isn't it?” I growled not knowing I was grumpy. “Sorry long flight.”

“No worries, you’re not the first to react like this,” she said without looking at me.

I could tell she was having an attitude, but she was trying to keep herself calm. She must have been there for hours and her time was short.

“Alright, I have you on the fourth floor. Enjoy your stay,” she said with a smile.

“Enjoy your night once you’re off anyways,” I said before leaving the lobby.

I would take a quick shower and head out. I was starving so that was something I needed to do as well. Some of the pubs around here had decent food, but not what I liked. I would have to deal with it until I was done.

Walking around most of the night going through the pubs, Nathaniel wasn't around. I was a little pissed, I was hoping this was a one-night thing and I could head back to New York, but of course, my quick plan turned into something worse. King Gideon knew I was in town and he sent someone to bring me to the castle. I was going to be yelled at, I just hoped he didn’t send people to New York and he kept his word that I would get the thirty days. Knowing him he was already preparing them to leave London and that pissed me off. Closing my eyes as we approached the castle, he had more guards this time around, which was kind of odd.
