Chapter 36
Oliver’s POV
Bringing Soma to the pack lands was the best thing for me and Drew. He was still going crazy, he wanted to bring her to our room, but I made sure she had her room. She needed to be comfortable with us before we ask her to sleep next to us. I knew I wouldn't be able to control him with her if she was that close.
Once we were in her room, I felt her relax a little bit. I needed to take a shower and meet with Micah and see what the plans were for the night. I hope everyone could control themselves around her, I didn’t want them to scare her into running from me. I knew they were going to ask if she was the Luna, that was something I couldn’t control.
“Micah come to my office.” I mind-linked him after leaving Soma in her room.
“Yes Alpha?” he mused.
“I want Soma’s visit here to be without issues, have you done what I’ve asked?” I asked sitting down.
“For the most part, but you know wolves and their daunting questions. They are going to ask the one question you don’t want them to, but I have a feeling Soma won’t be phased.”
“Well I am glad you have that faith, she is still new to this whole thing. I don’t want her to run away from us, I need her comfortable here otherwise we’re not going to be able to protect her as well as we should.”
“I am sure she is going to be fine, you shouldn’t worry so much,” Micah said shaking his head. “Where is she?”
“In her room, I told her I needed to take care of some things and that I would be back soon to get here.”
“Well, you should be with her and not worry about what everyone is going to ask her. You should enjoy your time while she is here. You are always working, now go to your girl before I steal her away from you.” he smiled.
I growled at him. “You know you’d die right?”
“Maybe.” he chuckled leaving me in my office.
He was right, I needed to be with her. She needed to be around someone she could trust, I just hope her time here is going to be great. I pray that nothing happens so that she could see we are a peaceful pack and she has nothing to worry about.
Taking a quick shower managed to smell me a few times before I knocked on her door. She was on the phone with I’m guessing Nick. She didn’t seem like she was happy with what he was telling her. So now I had to keep her mind off of him as much as I could. I hoped Nick wouldn't do this, maybe he wasn't leaving the country, I couldn’t tell by the way she was talking.
After I heard her become quiet, I knocked on the door. She greeted me with her beautiful smile, I could tell she was upset but figured if she wanted to talk about it she would.
“Are you ready to head downstairs, there is a bonfire and everyone wants us down there.” I smiled. “Well, they want to meet you.”
“Yeah I think so, Nick has to fly back to London tonight, so I think I’ll stay here if the offer is still open,” she said with a sad face. I knew it, something or someone called him back probably to find out more about us. I hoped Nick could convince them she was happier here than she would be there. But then again the Lycan King was a dick and he didn’t want us breeding together.
“Of course,” I said taking a step towards her. “I rather you live here, that way we can protect you from Detective Marks, but I know it’s too soon to ask you to move in with me.” I put my arm around her, the sparks felt amazing, I knew she would understand them soon and want to be around us always. “But in time I hope we can move in that direction, but for now let’s go and roast some marshmallows and eat some dinner.”
“Okay.” she has smiled at me.
We walked down the stairs, I pulled Soma closer, everyone bowed their head to us, I knew they were showing me respect, they needed to show her respect too.
“Everyone I’d like you to meet Soma, she is staying with us for the night. Hopefully longer, but no pressure.” I laughed, everyone watched her, and then me.
“Is she your mate Oliver, do we finally have a Luna?” someone asked.
“We will talk about that at a later date, right now she is here to see how we run as a community, this is all new to her.” I snapped. I could feel the mind-linking from pack members, they wanted to know more about her, but right now that wasn't important. I just wanted her to see how we ran together.
“She doesn’t smell like a wolf!” another spoke up.
“She’s not,” I said. “Enough! I want her to be completely relaxed here, and right now all these questions are not needed. Now let’s get some food and enjoy the nice night.” I growled.
Everyone grew silent, Soma and I sat down near the fire. A couple of girls brought us some food to eat. I could tell she felt weird being here, I needed to make him feel welcomed. I put my arm around her hoping it would ease some of this uncertainty.
“What are you thinking about?” I asked.
“Nothing much, I like it here a lot,” she said looking around. “Everyone seems to like it here.”
“Yes, we do.” I Chuckled. “I made this community about ten years ago, I nursed a lot of the wolves here back to health, a lot of them were in trouble. Now they are here, living and enjoying themselves without having to worry about the humans and their judgments.”
“Rogues!” someone growled, and chaos ensued.
Instantly my heart went in my throat, this was one thing I didn’t want to happen. We hadn't had an attack in several months and now tonight they wanted to come and attack us. I mind linked the warriors to come and take the women and children to safety, I knew Soma would be confused, so the next best thing I figured having her go into the house would be safe.
“Go into the house and stay there!” I growled.
She had terror in her eyes, I knew this wasn't going to sit well with her. Once she ran towards the house, I needed to deal with the rogues coming my way. It didn’t take long to deal with the rogues, most of them fed when I shifted.
Turning towards the house, two rogues stalked Soma. Drew went crazy and jumped over her as she went running away from them. We quickly killed the two of them, once everyone was safe I turned to face Soma. She lay on the ground unconscious and bleeding.
“Oh no,” I growled, I shifted and ran over to her.
She had a cut on her forehead, but I didn’t see any wounds from the rogues. I let out a breath I was holding.
“What happened?” Micah asked.
“I don’t know, she must have hit her head and knocked herself out,” I said picking her up. “I don’t think the rogues did anything to her.”
“I mind-linked Dr. Shane he’ll meet you in her room,” he said before leaving us.
I quickly took her to her room, she was breathing and she didn’t look like she was hurt. I was thankful the rogues didn’t do anything to her, I would have killed everyone wolf that wasn't a part of my pack and not scared of what happened to me if she was hurt.
“Micah said the Luna needs medical attention?” Dr. Shane walked into the room.
“I wish he wouldn't keep telling people she is Luna, she may still reject me,” I said rubbing my neck. I moved out of his way and watched him clean the wound on her head.
“She has a concussion I’m sure,” he said looking at me. “It’s not a big deal if you announce she is the Luna. As long as you keep Drew tamed, I don’t think you have anything to worry about.” he chuckled. “But she’s beautiful and if she’s mated to you, then there is a strong reason for it.”
“What do you mean?” I countered.
“Well she’s Lycan and witch blood, I can smell both on her,” he said looking back at her. “She is going to be strong once she finds her true self. I have a feeling she knows nothing of this yes?”
“Yeah, she is here to learn about us, I want her to understand what she is. But as far as I can tell, her parents shielded her or something. We don’t know much, but we do know the Lycan King wants her for whatever reason.”
“Ah yes, King Gideon, well fake King,” he said before leaving me standing there.
