Chapter 116
Nick’s POV
Following Oliver off the plane, I knew what was happening was real. I was nervous to go to his pack now, I knew this was crazy. She might not even be around when we arrive, I was hoping so but I knew I had to keep focused on ensuring we protect Soma until she woke up. I wasn’t sure how his pack would react when we arrived, I was scared too because I knew they were told to avoid us, and now we’re here to stay.
“Don’t worry Nick,” Oliver said coming out to the SUVs, I hadn’t moved from the spot since we arrived. Again, my nerves were getting the best of me, and I knew they shouldn’t have. I was like a lost puppy and it was pathetic. “I know you are worried about your mate, but you are also focused on Soma. Why don’t you just come to the house, relax and take a shower? We cannot help Soma she had to find her way out of her unconscious state alone. We will have to watch over her in case something happens.”
“I know, I promise I will focus on her only,” I said with my eyes down.
“No,” he said shaking his head. “I want you to explore my pack, I want you to get to know people and I want you to find your mate.” He said.
“Why?”
“Because it’s not fair to you to sit around and do nothing. I will be with Soma and will send word if something happens, but I want you to enjoy yourself, and learn to relax. You are not going to have to be a high-strung friend anymore.” He smiled. “I know that is asking a lot, but like I said we cannot do anything for her right now except to wait.”
“I know, but what if she wakes up when neither one of us are around?” I complained. “I don’t want her to think she is still with Gideon.”
“Don’t worry when she realizes she is not with him and in my room I don’t think we’ll have to worry about her too much.” I smiled. “Besides like I told you before I don’t want you stressing about being around, when she wakes up I will send someone to find you.”
“Fine,” I said rolling my eyes. “I knew he wasn’t going to let me hang around, so I figured I would go to my room and change and then walk around the pack lands and see what happens. I didn’t think I would find my mate today, and if I did it would be awesome and weird at the same time. It would be like the Moon Goddess is trying to distract me.
Finishing up in my room, I headed outside. I wanted to get to know where everything was since I didn’t get to do any of that when we were here. I was more focused on staying close to the packhouse because I didn’t want to get lost or have issues with any of Oliver’s pack members, but it seemed like they weren’t bothered by me anymore. I wondered if Oliver had said something to them, or they just knew I wasn’t a threat anymore.
“Hello.” A honey smell caught me off guard, I quickly turned towards the voice. A beautiful blonde with green eyes was staring at me.
“Hello,” I said I could see she was blushing.
“You are new around here?” she said taking a step toward me. “I am Emily. This is my sister Mona.” She said pointing to the little girl playing in the sand.
“Yes I just arrived a little bit ago, and Alpha Oliver told me I had to get out and enjoy the lands.” I giggled. “But here we are, you smell so sweet.”
“And you smell like cocoa. Does this mean we’re mates?” she asked almost jumping into my arms. I wouldn’t have stopped her if she wanted to jump into my arms either.
“I am not sure.” I giggled. “But it seems like we are because my Lycan is going crazy.”
“My wolf is too.” She giggled. “So you’re not a werewolf?” she asked quietly.
“No,” I said shaking my head. “I am a Lycan and I was told a few days ago that I was mated with a werewolf so I thought that was the coolest thing ever.” I smiled, my heart was going crazy, I didn’t know if I should grab her and mark her right then and there. I didn’t know how the werewolves did it, I know we marked as soon as we spotted our mates, but I didn’t want to scare her little sister either.
“I need to tell my parents, oh my God they are going to be so happy!” she giggled. “Come on Mona we have to tell mommy and daddy I found my mate.”
“What’s a mate?” the little girl asked.
“I’ll explain on the way home.” She said picking up her sister. “Where are you staying?”
“With the Alpha in the house.” I smiled. I was glad my mate was happy to have me. I watched her run off into some woods. I wasn’t sure where her house was, I wanted to follow her but since she was going to her parent's house I didn’t want to freak out anyone.
I made my way back to the packhouse, I needed to find Oliver and tell him I found my mate and that I was going to be around him and Soma with her a lot. I couldn’t wait for him to meet her, and everything.
Walking into the house it was quiet since was something I was still getting used to. I didn’t know where Oliver was, and I didn’t want to wander around the house in case there were places I shouldn’t be going. I sat down in the living room, I figured at some point he would come downstairs or at least know I was looking for him.
“What’s wrong Nick?” Micah asked coming into the living room.
“Oh nothing, I just need to speak to Oliver, I wanted him to know I found my mate and wanted him to meet her.”
“What’s her name?” he asked sitting next to me.
“Emily has a little sister Mona.” I smiled.
“Emily Bethany, they are Omegas, are you sure you are mated to her. Did she find you first or did you find her?” he asked concerned.
“Well,” I said thinking about it, she said something first but I smelled her first I think. “I think we both kind of found each other at the same time,” I said shrugging my shoulders. “Why does that matter?”
“Well sometimes the lower omegas want to be mated with someone higher so they get treated better, this might be happening to you.” He said chewing on his bottom lip. “Not saying it is happening, but we’ve had this happen in the past and it was a mess. Both parties ended up being banned from the pack because one lied and the other one didn’t want to believe it was a lie. They marked and mated and we killed them out because they were taking away from their true mates.”
“What’s going on?” Oliver growled walking down the stairs. “I was meeting with the Alphas that came back and I get a mind link about a possible fake mate?” he said crossing his arms.
“Well, it seems that he is supposed to be mated to Emily Bethany,” Micah said standing up.
“That family again?” Oliver said rolling his eyes. “The only thing we can do is call them in for a meeting and ask them if this is true or not.” He said looking at me, he looked like he was sad for me. I didn’t understand why he was sad, I smelled her and my wolf whined about being her mate.
“I smelled her Oliver, I don’t think someone could fake that, and my Lycan was going crazy for her so I think she is telling the truth.”
“Well we’ve had problems with this family for a long time, they’ve been waiting to move up and that is why we want to make sure you are not getting a fake mate.” He said looking at me. “They are coming now, but don’t worry if everything is real I am making sure your mate and her family are taken care of.”
“Fine,” I said rolling my eyes. I didn’t like how this was sounding. If she wasn’t my mate I wouldn’t feel this way about her. I knew he was trying to protect me, and I would ask Emily about the things her family has done. I wasn’t sure what kind of status she would get from me, as I am an outsider and I wouldn’t want Oliver giving me any kind of power over his pack. This wasn’t my land, I was just a person living here too.
“Hello Darrin, Martha,” Oliver said bowing his head slightly. “So I was just informed by one of my new members that your daughter is his mate?” Oliver said walking closer to me.
“That is what Emily has told us, except I don’t want her mated to a Lycan,” Darrin growled. “They are pathetic creatures.”
“I would watch your tongue,” Oliver growled. “I will banish you!”
“You did it to my brother, do it to me and my family.”
“You would be the only one banished, your daughter would move to the packhouse and your family name would be forgotten, so I suggest you change your tone before something happens that you know I will do,” Oliver warned. “Now I want to know if this is true, or you set this up to be fake.”
“No.” Darrin snapped. “Watching my brother have to leave because of what he did, I don’t want anything to do with that.” He said looking at me. “I am sorry Lycan, but my daughter cant be mated to you. The Moon Goddess wouldn’t mate two different species together.”
“She has, your new Luna is half Lycan.” Oliver countered. “So either give your blessing to your daughter and step aside or face my wrath.”
“Fine.” He said rolling his eyes. “She isn’t my favorite anymore, you can have her. I will send her and she belongs to the packhouse.” Darrin growled before storming out of the room.
“So it is settled,” Oliver said before disappearing up the stairs again.
