Chapter 68

Soma’s POV

Getting out of the shower, I didn’t want to wear the gown but with the way he handled things earlier, my clothes were ruined. Slipping the gown over my body, it fits perfectly. Walking into the bedroom Nick was standing by the window.

“You fit the part,” he said looking at me. “You look awesome in that dress.”

I rolled my eyes, I didn’t care. It was only going to be for a little while and then I was going to run. I just hoped Nick wasn't stupid and tried to stop me because I wasn't entirely sure what I would do to him if he tried.

“So King Gideon has asked me to bring you to the dining hall, there has been some change in plans and he wants you with him,” he said looking a little worried about how I would react.

“Fine,” I said rolling my eyes. “I am not going to do what he wants, but I’ll eat and that is it,” I said crossing my arms. I didn’t want to see the King’s face but I knew I wasn't going to have a choice and it was only a matter of time before he comes and sits with me in my room and that is something I didn’t want to happen.

“Come on I am sure he is impatient,” he said moving out of the way so I could follow him into the hallway.

I didn’t know the reason why he wanted me to dine with him tonight. I just wanted to get through it and get back to my room. When we walked into the dining hall there were a few more people with King Gideon. What did he want to show me off already? I rolled my eyes.

“King Gideon, Soma as you requested,” Nick said glancing at Nathaniel and then King Gideon.

“Sit both of you, we have lots to talk about.” King Gideon gestured for us to sit down. Half of me wanted to fight him on it, but I wasn't sure if there was something he would be telling us tonight that might help me get out of here.

“So Princess Soma this is Derek,” he said pointing to the man standing near them. “He is the best warrior we have so he will help with your protection,” he said looking at me.

What did he think I was stupid, he is going to use this man to ensure I cannot leave or go anywhere alone.

“This is Nathaniel.” King Gideon said looking at Nathaniel.

I didn’t know who he was, but he looked like someone I might have known. I stared at him for a long time before he broke eye contact. It was like he was trying to communicate without actually saying anything it was kind of weird.

“Nice, nice to meet you. I hope your life is better than mine.” I said sitting down next to King Gideon and Nick.

He didn’t say anything, I didn’t expect him to since he was with King Gideon, but he kept looking at me so I figured he wanted to say anything.

“So you wanted me here why?” I snapped looking at King Gideon.

“Well I don’t want you stuck in your room alone, so I figured a nice dinner so you can get to know people around the castle that you’ll be able to ask and get help from.” King Gideon started to eat while he spoke.

“I will rather be stuck in my room, send food there,” I said getting up from the table. I wasn't going to have him try and make me do things. I should have known when he sent Nick to come for me that he was just going to show me off. “I am not going to be your model for the night, and as far as us being together, we’ll never be,” I said over my shoulder before I left.

I slammed the door to my room and tossed myself on the bed. I was starving but I wasn't about to do what he wanted. I was hoping Nick would bring me something to eat later, if not I could probably find my way to the kitchen.

I paced around my bedroom until a knock at the door and Nick came in with some food. “You should have stayed,” he said putting the food down. “I know you don’t want to deal with him, but he would have made you laugh tonight.”

“Who is Nathaniel why do I feel like I know him?”

“He’s no one you should be concerned with, he was someone important and now he is nothing. King Gideon wants him to be around to help protect you, we have some vampires coming and we are putting more warriors and security on you.”

“I’ll just stay here, I don’t need to walk around when there are others here,” I said sitting down and stuffing food in my mouth. “I mean if it's going to put me in danger I rather not be around it.”

“King Gideon has already told people that you are Queen so they are expecting your presence,” Nick said walking over to the window. “You have to act the part otherwise it’s going to cause a war we’re not ready for.”

“Nick I don’t care about a war, this has nothing to do with me,” I said crossing my arms. “I need to get out of here before something does happen.”

“You are such a part of this than I am,” Nick said coming over to me. “I know you still don’t believe you are a Lycan but you are you have to understand if something happens to us we’re not going to be able to recover, we have to fight together otherwise its the end for us, and I know you don’t want to die do you?”

“I am not going to die, Nick, I will run as far and as fast as I can,” I said trying to control my tears. With him telling me death is coming for us, that scared me more than anything. I didn’t want to die, I didn’t even want to think about that. We’re too young, we don’t know what life is yet, but now I have to make a decision and possibly die because I was forced into a life I didn’t want.

“I know you don’t want to hear this, but we have to plan an attack and that means working with King Gideon and getting things done that way,” he said grabbing my hand. “I know when we get a chance we’re going to run, I know Oliver is looking for you.”

“What, what Oliver is alive?” I asked almost excited.

“Yeah of course he is, you thought he was dead?” he said trying not to laugh.

“Well yeah with all the gunshots who wouldn't be dead?” I said confused. “Wait what is going on here, are you trying to use Oliver to get me to deal with the King?”

“No, no Oliver was shot with sleeping medicine, the Council doesn’t kill people unless they are a lost cause,” he said touching me again. “I know for a fact he was arrested and then told to go back to his pack lands, and that is where he is now.”

“Is he looking for me?” I asked almost wanting to puke.

“I don’t know Soma, I am not allowed to go into the states and that means all my contacts are gone,” he said getting up. “I know you think this is just your thing, but I’ve lost a lot of things too. I have to stay in the castle I am not allowed to talk to anyone.”

“I don’t know about you but that doesn’t sound like a fun thing,” I said getting up off the bed. “We need to get out of here, I will protect you.”

“You were always one to protect me, but no I am going to ensure you are out of here. I don’t know why I left myself convinced me this was the best thing for us,” he said touching my face. “I am truly sorry for this, and I want to make things right with you.”

“We will when we get out of here, I don’t want to keep talking about this in case we have people listening. I don’t know what Gideon wants with me, but I know we cannot let him have it.”

I knew someone had to be listening, I know King Gideon doesn’t trust us together. He would be stupid if he thought we wouldn't be best friends. I knew he was going to use Nick to try and get me to do things, but I will show him he cannot cast friends against each other. I will be the death of him, I didn’t want to kill someone, but if it came down to my life and theirs I will be taking their life.

“Sit and finish eating, King Gideon will come and check on you soon,” Nick said walking towards the door. “I need to go he is calling me. Finish eating we will get out of here I promise. Just don’t try and run without me otherwise you might die.” he said before leaving me standing there.
