Chapter 26

Soma’s POV

I wasn't sure when they were going to have answers for me, but I was scared I would never be able to see them again. I wanted to tell Nick I wanted to go home, but I knew he would side with the hospital and keep me here until they were done testing me.

Closing my eyes I thought about everything that happened last night, I wasn't sure who the man was or if there were others with him, but I was glad he found me and brought me to the hospital, I thought Detective Marks was going to kill me.

“Good evening Soma my name is Dr. Samuel, so we’ve run all the tests we can and we cannot find out the reason you cannot see. I am hoping whatever the person used on you will wear off, but right now you are blind.”

“So there is nothing you can give me to see if it will bring my vision back?” I said choking back the tears.

“No sorry there isn't anything medically wrong with you, so our medicines wouldn't be wise to try,” he said clearing his throat. “We’ve notified the police and there is a Detective here that wants to ask you questions.”

“No please!” I begged. “I don’t want to talk to any police, they-”

“Hello, Ms. Soma.” Detective Marks said interrupting her. “I can take it from here Doc.”

“Very well, I will get your release papers done, it should be a few more hours. I’d suggest you rest and not do anything to possibly make your situation worse,” he said before leaving the room.

“Please just leave me alone!” I whined.

“Oh, and what fun would that be?” Detective Marks said moving closer to me. I wanted to get out of bed but knew it wouldn't be wise. I shifted closer to the edge. “Oh I wouldn't suggest you do that,” he growled grabbing onto me.

“Please just let me go, I am going to leave town after I get released.” I pleaded with him.

“Oh I wouldn't do that if I were you,” he warned. “If you leave town I’ll have to arrest you and keep you locked in my dungeon, a place where no one can find you.” he laughed.

“What’s going on in here?”

Nick.

“Oh I was just telling Soma here that there is an investigation going on in her kidnapping and she shouldn’t leave town, neither of you should,” he said letting go of me. “If you leave town something might happen and it would be bad,” he said before leaving the room.

“Did he hurt you?” Nick said grabbing my hands.

“No,” I said shaking my head. “I don’t want to be here anymore, tell the doctor to hurry up and get me released. I feel like he is going to come back and do something to me.” I said with tears rolling down my face.

“I need to go and make sure I locked your store, don’t worry I have someone people watching over your room, so you don’t have to worry about the Detective coming around.”

“You’re leaving me again?” I asked.

“I want to make sure the Detective isn't messing with your store, I promise no one is going to bother you while I’m gone,” he said kissing me on my forehead.

“Please don’t belong,” I said but he didn’t answer.

I was scared the whole time I was alone, the nurses came and unhooked my IV and gave me clothes to wear, but that didn’t make me feel like I was truly going home.

I wasn't sure how long Nick was gone, but when I heard his voice talking to someone outside my room I felt safe again.

“Are you ready to go?” Nick said coming into the room. “Sorry I had to make an extra stop, and then had to tell my guys to go ahead and go.”

“No worries, and yeah I want to go home,” I said wanting to stand up, but I was still weak.

“Alright let me get a wheelchair,” he said leaving the room again.

I wanted to walk but knew he was right. He returned shortly after and helped me to my car. I wasn't even sure how he managed to get it back but was glad that he had it.

“Did they do anything to my car?” I asked feeling around, but everything seemed in place.

“No, it was on the side of the road, a friend of mine was able to find it and bring it to me when we met up,” he said. “I’m going to take you home, and then I am going to call in some food for us, I know hospital food is shit and you probably didn’t eat.”

“No,” I said looking out the window even though I couldn’t see.

I was beginning to question why this was happening to me, I couldn’t remember much about the conversation Detective Marks and the other man had, but they mentioned something about a Lycan King, I wanted to know more about this.

“Who is the Lycan King?” I quizzed.

“His name is Gideon,” Nick said. “He wants to ensure you are safe, and he knows you are confused about a lot of things.”

“What is a Lycan?”

“A hybrid Werewolf.”

“You mean like in the movies?”

“Yeah something like that, but the movies twist it where it seems like they are not real. The humans don’t know the truth about us.”

“About us?” I questioned. I was beginning to think I was dreaming, I wasn't sure if Nick was messing with my head to make light of what happened to me, or if he was being serious. I was hoping he was joking because none of this was making sense.

“Yeah Soma you are half Lycan, your mother was human.”

“My mother and father were not these things you speak of if they are even real. I don’t know who put you up to this, was this part of something Detective Marks wants you to do to keep yourself safe?” I was getting upset.

“No Soma this has nothing to do with the vampire.”

I didn’t say anything else, I was kind of mad at Nick. He was making this story up to try and get my mind off my blindness and that was fine. I felt the car stop, and Nick turned it off.

“We’re back at your apartment,” he said getting out of the car.

I waited for him to open my door and help me to my feet. I didn’t feel as weak as I did before, and managed to get up the stairs with his help of course. Once I was in my apartment I felt safer, Nick called someone on the phone but I wasn't able to hear it. It didn’t matter he was probably calling his friends to tell them the story was fake and I wasn't buying it.

I wanted to know more about what he thinks is real, maybe London changed him and someone there convinced him that he was a werewolf. Me a werewolf? I doubt that I don’t smell, I don’t shift I am a normal human being.

“Alright food is ordered,” Nick said sitting next to me. “Do you want to talk more?”

“I don’t have anything else to say, I don’t believe what you are telling me,” I said crossing my arms. “Even if that was all true which I know it isn't how can werewolves live among humans and not be detected?”

“Soma, you do realize the humans are so distracted by their cell phones, we could walk around them and they wouldn't even know we were different? I mean in our true form, not this form.”

“I still cannot believe what you’re telling me, this is too fiction for me,” I said shaking my head. “I don’t think there is a way you are going to change the way I see things. This is all fake.” I said getting to my feet. “I am going to bed I don’t want to eat anything until you tell me the truth and stop adding sugar to an already overflowing shit box,” I said before stumbling my way to my room.

I was thankful that I knew my apartment as well as I did, I would have smashed my face on everything had I not been paying attention. I laid down on my bed and turned to my side to try and forget about everything that happened, but it was harder than I thought.

I heard a knock at the door and then Nick's voice and he close the door again. A few minutes later, he knocked on my door.

“Pizza is here,” he said coming into the room.

I sat up, I was starving but I didn’t want to talk anymore. “Fine I’ll eat, but I don’t want to talk anymore,” I said feeling around until he brought my hand to the plate. “This is going to take a lot to get used to,” I said frowning.
