Chapter 35
Soma’s POV
Oliver left me in my room to get freshened up, he also had an issue he had to deal with. I didn’t mind, I wasn't ready to go downstairs and meet everyone. The house was lovely, I could see myself living here, I knew that was jumping far ahead, but everything seemed to call me.
The room smelled just like Oliver, I don’t know why that gave me comfort but I was glad I felt safe here. Lost in my thoughts, my phone vibrated.
“Hey, Nick.”
“Hey Baby girl, are you having fun?”
“Yeah he brought me to my room, this place is bigger than my apartment, the house is amazing. I don’t know if I’d want to leave.”
“Well I’m sure Oliver would love to hear you say that.” he giggled. “Look I think you should stay with Oliver, I was called back to London, so I need to leave tonight.”
“What! Are you serious!”
“Yeah I’m sorry, your store is safe. I have someone looking after it, they will let me know if the Detective tries to do anything.”
“So I don’t even get to give you a hug and kiss before you leave?” I said walking over to the window, there were lots of people outside. There was a bonfire going, I wanted to see if Oliver was out there.
“No, but I will be back soon I promise, just listen to Oliver and stay safe. I will call you when I land in London, but I need to go.”
“Alright see you later,” I said putting my phone back in my pocket. I was a little hurt that he would leave without coming to say goodbye but I guess he couldn’t.
A soft knock at the door, I opened the door and Oliver stood there, he looked like he’d taken a shower and changed clothes.
“Are you ready to head downstairs, there is a bonfire and everyone wants us down there.” he smiled. “Well, they want to meet you.”
“Yeah I think so, Nick has to fly back to London tonight, so I think I’ll stay here if the offer is still open.”
“Of course,” he said taking a step towards me. “I rather you live here, that way we can protect you from Detective Marks, but I know it’s too soon to ask you to move in with me.” he put his arm around me, the sparks that I felt when he touched me were there. “But in time I hope we can move in that direction, but for now let’s go and roast some marshmallows and eat some dinner.”
“Okay.” I have smiled at him.
We walked down the stairs, my heart was racing the closer we got to the people near the bonfire. I felt Oliver pull me closer, everyone bowed their head to him which I thought was a little weird, but there wasn't anything I could do about it.
“Everyone I’d like you to meet Soma, she is staying with us for the night. Hopefully longer, but no pressure.” Oliver laughed, everyone watched me, and then him.
“Is she your mate Oliver, do we finally have a Luna?” someone asked.
“We will talk about that at a later date, right now she is here to see how we run as a community, this is all new to her.”
“She doesn’t smell like a wolf!” another spoke up.
“She’s not,” Oliver said. “Enough! I want her to be completely relaxed here, and right now all these questions are not needed. Now let’s get some food and enjoy the nice night.” he growled.
Everyone grew silent, Oliver and I sat down near the fire. A couple of girls brought us some food to eat. I felt out of place here, I didn’t understand the questions that were asked, and why Oliver was upset by it, I guess I could ask him about it later.
It was a nice night, I loved it here already. I knew what he said about me staying here, and I wanted to but I knew we were moving a little too fast. I didn’t want to have to give up being a virgin because we’ve taken that next step. Closing my eyes I felt eyes on me, I opened them again and Oliver was staring at me.
“What are you thinking about?” he asked.
“Nothing much, I like it here a lot,” I said looking around. “Everyone seems to like it here.”
“Yes, we do.” Oliver Chuckled. “I made this community about ten years ago, I nursed a lot of the wolves here back to health, a lot of them were in trouble. Now they are here, living and enjoying themselves without having to worry about the humans and their judgments.
I didn’t say anything, I was still not sure about the whole werewolf theme, maybe it was something they claimed to be, they wanted to be different than the world. I didn’t mind it too much, but I wasn't sure I could claim myself to be a werewolf or Lycan as Nick called me.
“Rogues!” someone growled, and chaos ensued.
I wasn't sure what they were talking about, but everyone was running around like we were under attack. Oliver stood up and glanced around, he looked down at me. “Go into the house and stay put,” he growled.
I wasn't sure what he meant, but he didn’t look like he was playing around. I put my dinner down and run towards the house, but was stopped by two wolves growling and showing their teeth at me.
I backed up but wasn't sure where I could run. Oliver told me to run into the house, but these two beasts were in my way and I was scared. I wish I knew more about wolves, maybe I could run into the woods and hide.
Turning around, I tried to run but felt something jump onto me, just before I hit the ground I felt the weight get off of me, but I couldn’t control my fall and smashed my head on a rock, knocking myself unconscious.
Opening my eyes I have expected to be dead, but I was in my room. There was a bandage on my forehead and Oliver was standing by the window.
“What, what happened?” I said touching my head.
“You hit your head on a rock outside,” he said coming over and sitting on the bed. “You scared me, how are you feeling?”
“My head hurts.”
“Here,” he said pulling open a drawer and pulling out some medicine. “You have a concussion it seems, but you should be okay,” he said touching my face. “I am sorry this happened tonight.”
“What happened to those wild wolves?” I asked as I drank the water with the medicine.
“We killed them, attacks don’t happen too much, but when they do the woman and children as usually put in the safe house. I didn’t react in time, and I am sorry,” he said with a sad face.
“You couldn’t have used sleeping stuff to knock them out and put them back in the wild?” I asked with a sad face.
“It doesn’t work that way with them, Soma, I know you still don’t want to believe what we’re telling you, but you are a magical creature too, once you understand that you will understand our world too,” he said touching my face. “But everyone is safe now, you should get some rest, tomorrow I want to show you around so you can kind of get a good idea where you are,” he said getting up. “Unless you want to sleep with me?”
“I’ll stay here,” I said yawning. “Trust me sleeping closer to you would probably be best, but I am not ready for that step yet.”
“Very well, soon you will not be able to resist my smile.” he joked. “I’m already in love with yours. Goodnight,” he said before closing the door.
Touching my head, it hurt. I still didn’t know what happened tonight, I was glad I had only a cut on my head and those wolves didn’t do anything to me. I wasn't sure if Oliver was the one that killed them, or how he killed them. I was still very confused with everything that was happening. I wanted to believe Oliver, but things like werewolves don’t exist. They couldn’t, they were fictional characters that everyone loved.
Getting out of bed, I went into the bathroom and didn’t my business and then went to the mirror to look at myself. I had a black eye and a bandage above it. I was embarrassed that I fell and hit my head, I don’t know what Oliver thinks of me, I was afraid he wouldn't want anything to do with me. I was sad that I couldn’t defend myself. I should have grabbed sticks or rocks or something, but I froze.
I was thankful they didn’t hurt me, but I was close to death tonight and that was something I needed to consider. If these wolf attacks would be a constant thing even though Oliver said it rarely happened, but it happened tonight, so I am sure he isn't being truthful there.
