Chapter 76
Oliver’s POV
When I found out Nick was back in the states, part of me was happy, but the other part of me remembered what he did when I went crazy. I knew he was just protecting Soma, but when he gave her over to the Lycan King I wasn't sure how I felt. I still felt like he did it out of protecting her, but I still won’t trust him until he proves to me that he is on our side and not using us to make a promotion in his rank.
“Alpha a vampire and someone else is at the edge of our property.” one of my warriors linked me.
“I’m on the way, I need others to come. This is the vampire that is responsible for taking our Luna. He isn't to be harmed, we just want the boy.” I said before shifting and heading to the edge of our lands.
I knew it was Nick and most likely Marks. I needed to stop Marks from doing anything to Nick until I figured out if he was on our site or not. I ran as fast as I could, it only took about a minute to get there. I could see them, Nick was conscious and being stuffed into the back of Marks's vehicle.
“Let the boy go!” I growled.
Detective Marks turned to face me, he smiled when he saw it was me. It was like he thought he’d won because he had Nick already almost in the car. “Sorry he is wanted,” he said opening the car door.
“No, he’s not leaving my lands with you,” I warned. “I will give you one chance to release him before I kill you,” I said taking a few steps towards him. Drew was on the surface, he wanted to rip the face off the vampire, but I knew if he killed Marks then the vampire King would know something happened and we didn’t need that at the moment.
“I cannot let a criminal go, you will have to understand you can talk to him when he is released in a few hours, please step back,” he warned me, I almost laughed at him. I’ve lost my entire life and he wants me to step back. I wanted to show him my dark self but knew I had to keep in control too.
“No,” I said as three others stepped out of the woods.
“I can’t Oliver, and I will arrest you too if you interfere with this,” he warned. I watched his eyes scan the area, he knew he was outmatched and he would likely die fast if he pissed me off anymore. I was waiting, but my patience was already gone, I just wanted to get Nick to the packhouse and wait for him to wake up and tell me why he wanted to meet with me. If he didn’t know anything about Soma I didn’t care what he had to say.
“I am not afraid to die.” I said taking another step towards him “You’re going to attack me, you and all your beasts when I give you what you want.”
“You won't know until you’ve given him to me,” I growled looking past him, now there were even more wolves all around him.
“Last chance vampire let him go and leave alive, or die by werewolves and we still get the boy,” I growled at him.
“Fine!” he growled opening the back door to his car pulling the unconscious boy out and pushing him towards me, I grabbed him as fast as I could. He was a lot heavier than I thought but that was because he wasn't awake.
“Now get out of here before I change my mind,” I growled as I looked down at the boy.
I knew I shouldn’t let Detective Marks go, he will just tell the vampire King what happened and it might even cause us problems, but right now I didn’t care. I needed to know what Nick knew about Soma and this was the only way we will figure this out. I hoped he had a plan coming here because I wasn't sure what we could do other than going to London and killing everyone that stopped me from getting to my mate. I carried Nick to the packhouse, Micah and more warriors were waiting.
“I thought you were going to kill him,” Micah asked.
“No, I need to know what the boy knows,” I said walking past him. “If Nick doesn’t have anything useful for us, then I will throw him into the dungeon until we bring Soma back here and she decides if he was the one that betrayed her or not.”
“Well, I guess that is a good plan then,” Micah said looking down at Nick. “What happened to him?”
“I don’t know, but he smells weird,” I said looking him over. “He’s probably drugged or something, Marks couldn’t take him awake I guess,” I said shrugging my shoulders. “Hopefully this doesn’t take long to wear off, I want to know everything now,” I said pacing back and forth.
“I know Oliver, but you have to understand that he came here to give you information, I am sure it’s going to be worth the wait,” he said walking into the kitchen. “I will get the doctor here to see if they know anything about Lycans and medicines to used to knock them out. We have nights bane, they should have something similar to that.” he left me standing there with Nick on the couch.
I paced back and forth not realizing Nick opened his eyes. He didn’t move or say anything but we stared at each other.
“Are you okay?” I finally asked.
“Yes.” he groaned. “It's blood bane, it takes a while to get out of my system. Detective Marks wanted to take me somewhere to prevent me from helping,” he said.
“Here,” Micah said coming into the living room with some water. “Doctor said they didn’t know what happened to you, but glad you’re awake,” he said leaning against the wall. “So you have things to tell us, why don’t you start?”
“Relax Micah, he just woke up, we don’t know what this does to them,” I said looking at him. “You know it messes us up for days, how do we know it’s not the same for them?” I said looking back at Nick. “When you can the sooner know the better.”
“We need to get to London,” he said looking between us. “I know you think I’m crazy, but there is a war about to break out between the Lycans and the vampires, and it’s all because both parties want to make Soma into something dark,” he said shaking his head. “At least her father is with her right now, but she doesn’t even know him. King Gideon doesn’t want them chatting, so he keeps her close to him.”
“I figure the bastard did that,” I said rolling my eyes. “Has he marked her?”
“No, he wants to, and he has tried to get it from her willingly but she has shut him down,” Nick said sounding weak. “Look I know you don’t trust me because of what I did. But I did it to protect her, you were going crazy and we Lycans were taught you were never to be trusted when your wolf takes over. I took her away to protect her. I thought it was going to be a lot easier to get her away from him, but he’s locked everything down.” he said with a sad face.
“Don't worry we will figure this out. I know you think we hate you, but we don’t.” I said shaking my head. “The fact that you made it here safely, I was impressed. I know the vampires have been rounding up hiding Lycans and doing who knows what.”
“I’m sure they are being killed,” Micah said before I could. “But as long as you stay here, we can protect you. But you have to help us when the time is right.”
“As long as it involves saving Soma and not making me stay here because you two big bad wolves don’t think I have it in me, think again,” Nick growled, he groaned in pain again. “But after this crap is out of my system it hurts.”
“Can you walk?” I asked.
“Yeah,” Nick said getting off the couch and following me into the kitchen. I figured a meal would help him heal faster. “We have to worry about Detective Marks coming here don’t we?”
“He has already tried to come here, and he has lost his men,” Micah said looking at him. “But we welcome them to try and the more we kill of them, the more we have the upper hand. We’ve wanted to rid this city of vampires, but they make faster than we get them down.”
“Eh, maybe we can find all the Lycans that haven't been captured and get them to help us too?” Nick suggested.
“No, no I already have a plan in place. We have a lot of Alphas coming with their warriors, we’re going to storm into London and take what we came for, if we have to kill more then we save so be it.” I said handing him the sandwich I made. “Your room is still where it was, you are always welcomed here,” I said before leaving him and Micah in the kitchen.
