Chapter 108

Oliver’s POV

I wasn’t sure what she was saying, so Soma had her wolf she has just locked away again. I wanted to know more about Seff and what I needed to be careful of. Seeing how she was with the whole situation the woman scared the hell out of me. I wasn’t sure if she was going to kill me because she had that rage or if it would have been an accident. I was in Nathaniel's debt for him pulling her away from me before she could do anything bad. I still wanted to love Seff but I wasn’t sure if she was capable of love and that was something I was longing for.

I wanted Soma to wake up more than anything now. I want to mark and mate her so we could meet Seff and see if she still had that darkness to her. Seeing Seff opened my eyes to a lot of things, I was a dark person and I hated it. Now that I saw how worse things could be for me, I knew there was still hope that we could make this darkness that plagues both of us go away.

I walked around the halls before I managed to find myself standing in front of our door. I could hear the doctor talking to herself or Soma. I slowly opened the door and peaked in, the Doctor looked at me and smiled.

“There is some change.” She said looking back at Soma. “Her blood pressure and heart rate are beginning to slow down so that is a good thing.” She smiled.

“Okay,” I said holding my breath. “Does that mean she is waking up?”

“It’s possible, her body is healing. The wounds on her back are almost gone so her wolf is healing her. Maybe she will wake up soon and you will see she is back to herself.” She said moving away from the bed. “I did give her some medicine so she will probably be sleepy if she does wake up, but we will get her off the drugs once she starts showing signs that she is better.” She said walking to the door. “Get some rest too, you are going to need it.”

“What do you mean?” I said turning to face her.

“Your mate is going to have a lot of questions, I don’t know how much she is going to remember but she is going to question a lot of things that happened and you should be prepared for her to want to run away from this place.” She said looking back at the door. “I know she’ll probably remember being held prisoner here so her first instinct is to run.”

“I hope when she sees me she’ll run to me,” I said with a sad face. “But I need to have faith that she will understand what happened I am going to be here to make sure she isn’t scared or left alone,” I said looking back at Soma. “You can go ahead and go, I am going to rest with her, maybe even plan my way out of here so she doesn’t wake up here.”

“I don’t know if taking her away from a place she has become accustomed to is a good idea, but I will let Nathaniel know you are thinking about leaving.” She said before closing the door.

I knew I wanted her home with me, I wanted her to wake up in New York. I knew that is where we belonged and it was important as part of her healing. If she knew her tea shop was waiting for her maybe she would wake up faster.

Sitting down next to Soma, I was beginning to feel something from her, I don’t know if it was Seff trying to reassure me that everything was going to work out and I shouldn’t be so scared of the thing. I knew Soma was strong if she wasn’t she would have died already. I was dying to hear her voice and it was depressing knowing she was fighting this alone.

I should have been stronger and faster and not let that damn vampire do what he did to her. I still wish I could go back and do something about it, but I knew the vampire was in hell where belonged. I knew Soma was able to control her emotions when she had to. She was my perfect mate and it killed me I fell short of her perfect mate.

It seemed like hours went by, I was pacing around the room. I was getting scared she wasn’t going to wake up, but I knew it was going to take him. I was still scared she would look at me and tell me she didn’t want anything to do with me. I didn’t want to hear the words you’re rejected, I knew it was a big possibility I hoped Seff was with her and keeping her safe. I didn’t know what to expect when she wasn’t around me, I wasn’t sure where she was and if she was warm or cold.

I knew I was a pathetic mate, but this was all new to me, and it hurt me to know I fell short of what the Moon Goddess expected of me when she paired us together. I knew I had to find myself before she woke up so she could see I was the strong wolf I needed to be. Damn, I loved this girl more than anything and it was tearing me apart.

A knock at the door, I didn’t move from where I stood. Nathaniel popped his head in.

“Mind if I come in?” he asked.

“Yeah, you could come in,” I said trying to relax but I was tense and scared and pissed off too. I knew the darkness that plagued me was taking me over and without Soma there to help me through this I don’t know what I could do.

“Doc said she was getting better.” He said walking over to her. “She is getting her color back, so that is something we know she is recovering, she will be back with us soon Son.” He said looking at me. “Why don’t you go outside and train, you look like you are about to explode.”

“I am,” I admitted. “With everything that has happened in the past month I don’t know how I am still standing here sane.”

“Well it takes a strong wolf, and I know yours is strong. Our Elders were quite wrong about the werewolves, you beings are different but are special too.”

“I don’t know what that means but I guess thanks. We don’t know much about your kind I think the Council wanted to keep us in the dark about you for reasons I still don’t understand.” I said shrugging my shoulder. “I know they were pissed off when they found out I was mated with Soma, and they gave her over to King I mean Gideon.”

“What they did to you was wrong and they needed to pay for it. I just wish things turned out a little different had they known I was still alive and wanting to return to power they might have helped me to it.” I said sitting down on the bed. “But Gideon was a good liar and when he banished me to the Islands I couldn’t do anything. I didn’t have anyone to talk to except Nick.” He said sounding sad.

I figured her parents were humans, but now that I see they were not it made sense why I felt instantly connected to Soma regardless if she was a Lycan or a human. Something about her parents was strong in her even though she didn’t know who they were or that she was adopted.

“Why didn’t you want Soma to know about you?” I asked.

“We did want her to know about us, her adopted parents chose not to tell her anything about us and why she was adopted out. We were sad but we figured it was because the adopted parents were humans and they didn’t know anything to do with our world.”

“So they knew you were Lycans?”

“Yes,” Mary said walking into the room. “I heard your voices and I knew I had to come in and chat again. I hope you are not scared of us Oliver, you werewolves were probably taught bad things about us, we were taught bad things about you,” she said with a sad tone.

“Well no actually,” I said clearing my throat. “We weren’t taught anything about your kind, we were told to avoid you is all,” I said looking down at my hands. “If I could take back how many times I knew Lycans were in the area and I avoided them I would, you don’t seem like what we’re told to avoid.”

“Well everyone has their problems, we are not always good. You have your bad eggs everywhere you go, but there are good people too,” she said touching Nathaniel. “I wish we would have fought a little harder being in her life, but we cannot change the past but grow from it. We know you want to go back home and we feel you should, but we request to come and visit.”

“Of course, I would love you to stay as long as you want, I want my pack to see you are good people whether Lycan or not.” I smiled.

“Nick is around, I need to go and chat with him,” Nathaniel said getting up. “I would like to have a grand dinner to welcome you into the family, I know it will not be the same because Soma isn't awake, but I would love for my people to see you and know that we were taught wrong information.”

“Of course, what time?”

“I will send someone for you so you don’t stress about watching the time.” he smiled before they left me.
