Chapter 91
Soma’s POV
Searching around the bed and then under the dagger was gone. I wasn't sure what happened, but I tossed the blankets around to see if maybe they slipped down when I sat down on the bed acting like I was getting ready for bed.
“Looking for this?” Roman’s voice was loud, it startled me almost out of my skin.
I quickly turned to face him, he held the dagger that was under my bed. I took a deep breath and stood up, I wasn't sure what he was up to or how he found it.
“So I am assuming you have someone in this castle that wants me dead?” he said half smiling. “The only thing is if she didn’t tell you were to stab me, I wouldn't be dead.”
“I uh I don’t want you dead,” I said shaking my head, my heart was racing. I wasn't sure what he was going to do to me now that he knew someone gave the dagger to me. I was afraid he was going to hurt the girl that was just trying to get me away from him.
“So what were you planning to do with this then?” he said waving the dagger around as two others came into the room. I was assuming he wanted them to come in case I tried something else but I didn’t want to do anything. I just wanted a chance to get out of here.
“I wasn't going to do anything with it, I just wanted to get away from you long enough so you couldn’t find me,” I said staring at the dagger. “The person that gave it to me told me to stab you enough so that you cannot instantly grab me giving me enough chances to run away from you.”
“So I am assuming it was one of the slave girls that tried to help you, don’t worry her death isn't going to be on your hands. But as acting Queen, you are going to give her the death sentence.”
“No!” I growled. “I am not going to put anyone to death because you are angry that she wanted to help me get away from you,” I said with tears in my eyes. “I am not a Queen, I don’t want to be a Queen and I will not be forced to do something I know isn't right.”
“Well since King Gideon isn't here, I get to tell you what to do,” he said taking another step towards me. “I know you are afraid but this is part of your job. You have to keep order, and since someone wanted you to kill me you have to take care of your business otherwise it’s going to make you look weak.” he stopped in front of me. “Or do you want me to use this on you and say you killed yourself?”
“You are going to do what you want, there is nothing you can do to scare me into getting what you want. You are just going to have to kill me.” I said folding my arms. “But I know you won't because you love me?”
“Maybe,” he said turning towards the guards. “Why don’t you bring her with us, I would like her to see what happens to people that try and overthrow us,” he said moving away from me.
The two men that came into the room stood behind me, one grabbed my arm but I jerked it away from him.
“Don't touch me!” I snapped.
“Please follow him, we don’t want to get hurt because you are not listening, you have to do what he says.” the man said.
“I don’t, if I am Queen I don’t have to do anything anyone says. I demand my release.”
“Nice try Princess,” Roman said turning to face me. “But it doesn’t work that way, you would be in danger if we were to release you and I don’t think King Gideon would allow us to live if something were to happen to you.” he half-smiled.
“I don’t care, I don’t belong here, and when you understand that you will see why I am unhappy. I have a life in New York, I didn’t want this life. I didn’t want to be a prisoner because some King thinks he could take what he wants.” I said shaking my head. “What if it was your mate that was prisoner would you just allow her to stay that way?”
“King Gideon killed my mate because she was just like you. She didn’t want to listen, she wanted to do things her way. She didn’t want to be with me because I support King Gideon.” he said rolling his eyes. “So yes I wouldn't care too much about her either. Now if you don’t mind we have some business to get to,” he said walking out of the room.
I didn’t want to go with him, I didn’t want someone to be put to death because she knew I didn’t belong here and wanted to help me out, I was afraid of what they were going to do to her. I was afraid of what they were going to do to me if Roman decided he wanted to punish me too.
Following Roman out of the room and down the hallway, I remembered some of the ways back to the dining area, but we turned down another hallway in which I wasn't sure where it lead. He stopped in front of a huge door, he turned to face me.
“Are you ready to learn what happens to you when you don’t want to do what I ask?” he smirked before turning and opening the door.
I slowly walked into the room, it looked like a throne room, but bigger. There were chairs at the end of the room and rows of other things that I wasn't sure what they were. I continued to follow Roman until he stopped at the chairs, he turned to face me.
“So this is the throne room, where you do your business and meet with people that need something from you. Today you will get to witness your first trial, I will make the decisions for you since you are scared,” he said pushing me towards the chairs. “Why don’t you get in your seat and relax, my guards, will ensure you don’t escape and you get to see what happens with people that piss me off,” he growled at me before he forced me to sit down.
Roman joined a couple of others I am assuming they were his men. I wondered if King Gideon knew Roman was doing this, or if he wasn't aware. I wanted to ask him but knew it would probably do no good and I would be growled at or something.
“Ah, there he is,” Roman said with a smile on his face when three men walked into the throne room, the two behind one of the men forced him down to his knees.
“What do you want Roman?” the man snapped at him, I could tell he was annoyed for being summoned to the castle.
“Max are you aware of what your mate has been trying to get the Princess to do?” Roman asked calmly.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about?” he said glancing at me. “As far as I know you’ve banned anyone from leaving the castle so I haven't been able to see my mate in a few months,” he said focusing his attention back on Roman. “So if she is doing anything, I am sure you’ve put her up to it.”
“Ha!” Roman laughed. “Yeah I would put her up to trying to kill me,” he said growling. “I know for a fact that you’re in contact with Nick and he’s been feeding you information,” he said taking a step closer to the man. “So I want to know what he is up to so that I can prepare for what’s coming.”
“I don’t have any idea what you’re talking about, last I heard Nick was in New York with the werewolves. They cannot come here, the Council will not allow it.”
“So you think the Council would stop a bunch of crazed werewolves from trying to come here to save the Princess.”
“I don’t know what they would do, I am not one of them,” he said without looking at him. “So why don’t you let my wife come home with me, and you can continue to do whatever you are doing here, I am tired of the games. I want my family back.”
“Too bad your wife isn't coming home to you.” Roman snapped. “Bring in his mate so she could learn her fate,” he yelled at the guys near the door.
My heart was racing, I wasn't sure what he was going to do other than kill her. I didn’t want to see anyone die because they helped me, but Roman was going to do what he wanted to do. I closed my eyes and pinched myself hoping this was just a bad dream but when I opened my eyes I was still sitting in the throne room with two people standing behind me as guards.
“Ah, there you are Darcy!” Roman was happy it was sick.
“Why, why have I been called here?” she said looking around, her eyes met mine for a minute and she knew what was happening.
“You are here to learn your fate,” Roman said glancing back at me. “For trying to get the Princess to kill me, are you innocent or guilty?”
