Chapter 24

Soma’s POV

Opening my eyes I wasn't sure what to expect. I was a little scared, but I knew I was still with Detective Marks. My hands were bound over my head, I was in the corner.

“Finally.” Detective Marks said walking closer to me. “I thought you were never going to wake up.”

“Well, I wish I didn’t,” I said without looking at him. “Let me go!”

“In due time, we’re going to visit the Lycan King and demand him to stop the killing of us, and we need you to help with that,” he said kneeling next to me.

I was beginning to think this was all a joke, and someone I knew was going to come out of the dark and tell me they loved how I reacted, but the seriousness on his face told me, I was reading the situation wrong.

“I don’t know what you’re on about, but I cannot help you,” I said swallowing hard. “I don’t even know anyone here in New York let alone a Lycan King.”

“Oh, but he knows you well. Your friend has been protecting you for a long time, and now that he is out of the way I am here to ensure I get what I want.” he grinned. “Don't worry you won’t fight me,” he said glancing at his friend.

He handed Detective Marks something, but I didn’t see what it was. Detective Marks looked at me, and his face changed. “I’m going to leave you here while we’re away, no one is going to find you here alone, so don’t bother trying to escape,” he said and then he blew something in my face.

Whatever it was, it burned my eyes and slowly I lost my sight. “What the hell, why am I blind?” I asked starting to panic.

“Don't worry it's temporary,” he said his voice getting lower before I heard the door close.

I struggled with the handcuffs, I hoped he wasn't serious about leaving me here alone in this cabin without food or water, and now I cannot see so if a wild animal came in here I was going to be dead. My heart was racing, I tried pulling my wrists free, but the handcuffs were tight. I thought about screaming but figured it wasn't going to do any good.

It seemed like hours went by and Detective Marks didn’t come back. I wasn't sure what time it was, or if it was daylight.

A little while later, I heard voices outside the cabin. Part of me wanted to scream and get the person's attention, but I wasn't sure if it was Detective Marks, I wasn't sure if he would hurt me. Taking a gulp when I heard the door open, my heart was racing.

“A girl.” an unfamiliar man spoke. “Are you hurt?”

I wasn't sure what to say, I still couldn’t see, and that is what scared me the most.

“Are you okay?” he asked touching my face.

“I uh I cannot see, but yes other than that and my ankle I am fine.” I am finally sad.

“We need to get you out of here, do you know who did this to you?” he questioned.

Again my mind was going all over the place. Was he sent by Detective Marks to test me, or was he someone that stumbled upon the cabin and happen to save me?

“I don’t know.” I lied, I was scared, but until I was safe with a hospital or something I wasn't going to trust anyone.

“Well let’s get you out of here just in case whoever did this to you comes back,” he said.

I could feel him standing in front of me, it’s great he wants to get me out of here, but there’s just one problem unless he had handcuff keys. I felt him pulling on the handcuffs until I feel them break into two.

“There,” he said before picking me up bridal style. “I have a car outside, we’ll go to the hospital, I think you need to speak to the police about this,” he said as he carried me into the cold. I shivered but was thankful to be free of this place.

I still wasn't convinced he didn’t work with Detective Marks and prayed he would take me to the hospital. Once I was in the car I felt a little better, after he pulled the car into the drive my heart slowed down a little.

“Don't worry we’re not far from the hospital,” he said I could feel him staring at me, but I didn’t say anything. Like I said before, I trust no one until I know I’m at the hospital.

The short ride to the hospital was relaxing, once I felt the car stop, I have expected to hear Detective Marks voice, but I heard the man ask for some help. After that, he picked me up and put me on a bed.

“I hope you feel safe now,” he said before they wheeled me away from him.

I listened to the Doctors and nurses rush around me, ordering all kinds of tests.

“Where does it hurt Ma’am?” the Doctor asked.

“My Ankle, I twisted in trying to get away from the person that kidnapped me,” I whispered.

“X-ray, and head CT, I will be back once the tests are complete,” he said before I felt him leave.

The nurse was careful with my foot, my head hurt a little bit, but I figured it had something to do with the stuff Detective Marks blew in my face. I was still scared about him coming to the hospital, it would be a smart move for him to look for me here. I needed to get out of here as soon as I could, I just wasn't sure where I could go and feel safe.

It seemed like the tests were endless, and I was more scared the longer I had to sit there and wait. I wasn't sure how long I’d been there when I heard a familiar voice.

“Nick!” I whined.

“Oh my God did he hurt you?” he said touching my face.

“My vision is gone,” I said with a single tear rolling down my face. “He said it wasn't going to be forever, but I’ve been like this for hours.”

“Don't worry I might have something that can help with that, but we need to get you out of here before Detective Marks and his douche bag friends come.”

“They aren't going to let me walk out of here,” I said, wanting to do what he said and leave. “I am still waiting to find out what is going on with my head and my ankle.”

“I will go and find out or try and find out what happened,” he said before letting my hand go.

Instantly I felt cold, I was alone again and I was scared all over again. I wanted to run after him, but I knew this was wishful thinking. I closed my eyes and thought about everything that happened, it didn’t make sense. I didn’t know anything about what he’d mentioned, but yet he was so sure of himself. Maybe the Detective was crazy.

I wasn't sure if I should report this to the police since he worked for them. Someone had to do something about what he did to me. A little while I felt Nick come back, but he didn’t say anything. He grabbed my hand and squeezed it.

“So what did you find out?” I said taking a deep breath.

“Nothing they won't tell me anything until the Doctor has reviewed your test results. We need to get out of here before the vampire I mean Detective Marks comes and finds you. I don’t know if he will do anything to you.”

“I don’t know, he said something about a Lycan King, and all this crazy stuff I just don’t know what to think about it,” I said shaking my head. “He was sounding crazy and then he blew this crap into my eyes and now I can't see,” I said with a frown on my face.

“He mentions the Lycan King?” Nick questioned.

“Yeah, what does that mean?” I said wanting to cry.

“Probably nothing, like you, said he was sounding crazy, so it probably doesn’t mean anything.”

I could feel Nick wasn't telling me the truth about this, maybe it was because I was still in shock, but something didn’t seem right. Everything about last night was confusing, I needed to figure this out.

“So your head looks fine.” the Doctor said coming into the room. “Your ankle isn't broken but I am going to put you in an air cast, you’ll have to wear it for six weeks or so, and then follow up with your doctor.”

“Okay, when can I get out of here?” I said swallowing more air.

“I’ll get the paperwork started, the Nurse should be here in a minute with your cast. I’ve called in some medicine downstairs you’ll pick up on your way out. Have a good day.”

I wondered about the guy that found me, who was he?
