Chapter 96

Oliver’s POV

Walking back to my office, I hoped everyone would come with me. I needed the help, seeing the King Gideon was wicked and he would do everything in his power to ensure Soma was his. I wanted to show him that we weren’t scared of him, and we would be willing to kill as many people as we could if he had to. I wanted to show these Alpha’s that I was stable, but it was clear I wasn't. Even if I had everything going well for me, I felt that deep darkness that plagued my soul more and more each day. I needed Soma, she was my cure. I had a feeling she would be the one that made that darkness go away, and it was something I wanted badly. I hoped she still loved me after all of this, it scared me knowing she was alone and probably thinking I abandoned her.

“So,” Micah said coming into my office. “Most of the Alpha’s left, they told me that they had things that needed to be taken care of. I guess some rogues found out they were here and decided to attack their packs.”

This wasn't surprising, what I was asking them was going against everything we knew. Everything that makes sense, I was a little sad going at this alone but I figured I would give it a go alone.

“That’s fine,” I said looking away from him. He knew me better than most, and he knew this was a slap in the face, but there was nothing I could do. Nothing I could say would change their mind. They had their packs that needed help, I couldn’t ask them to abandon them. “So I will go alone and see what happens,” I said turning to face him.

“No I will go with you, you cannot expect to do this alone,” he said walking closer to me. “Please don’t tell me I have to stay here because I don’t think I could leave you alone, they’ve already abandoned you.”

A knock at my door startled me out of my thoughts. If all the Alphas were leaving or gone, there was no one else. “Come in.”

Alpha Zane opened the door and half-smiled. “So abandoned we are,” he said closing the door behind him. “Just because we don’t agree on anything, I know you need help.”

“Thanks for staying, maybe we can mend our friendship and see past everything in the past,” I said walking closer to him with my hand extended.

“Consider things forgiven on my end Oliver, we all know you had a bad spell in your life. Hell, I think we all have had that moment. You just had to do it alone, no mate to comfort you when you needed it. I don’t want to see you unhappy anymore.”

“Thanks.” I half-smiled. “I was hoping to have more help, but since you are here I feel a little better about going at the Council about my mate. I know they are going to throw a fit, and try and tell me she has been mated already but I know she hasn't.” I said shaking my head. I hoped King Gideon hasn't done anything to her, I could never forgive myself if she was marked by another.

“Well we won't know until we head there right?” he said leaning against the wall. “Even if the Council tells you she is gone what are you going to do?”

“I will kill them, and then I will kill King Gideon and take my mate back. I know she loves me, I know she is holding off on getting marked. I would have felt something if she was marked.”

“This is true,” Micah said looking at me. “I think the two of you better get going, we don’t know what kind of crap you are going to face when you see the Council, but we know they are going to be jerks like they were last time. I will grab your bag Oliver,” he said looking at Alpha Zane. “You better watch yourself too, we don’t know what kind of Council these men are now seeing they didn’t care about the mate bond.”

“Don't worry I would love to see them try something. With Oliver and I, I think they will fall to our feet and beg us not to hurt them.” he smiled. “And if we have to hurt them a little bit, then so be it.”

“I don’t want to hurt anyone, but I know they are going to piss me off,” I said walking with him out of the office. “Let’s hope they remember how I was when they took her away from me, if not we’ll just have to show them how badass us Werewolves are and kill everyone. We can even restart the Council.”

“Or leave it be and let the packs and everyone else do their own thing. We don’t need some men that don’t even know how we are telling us how we should act.” he smiled. “But we will take it one step at a time, but I want to get back at them for a lot of the crap they’ve put my pack and I through, so don’t be surprised if I kill them.”

I smiled at his words, this was the Zane I remember, he was smart but brutal when it came down to it. I think that is why we got along in the past, I know we have our differences now mostly because he has a family and I didn’t, but I wanted that to change. I wanted that family thing he had, and I was close to having it. I wasn't going to stop now because the Council thinks they can tell us who our mates are.

I wanted to see their faces when we came in there and demand they give me what I want. I knew it was a long shot, but I wasn't scared anymore. I didn’t have anything else to lose, and if they wanted to lose their life it was going to be on them. I would give them one chance to get things right and then it would be over if they refused. I wanted to show King Gideon he doesn’t have any right when it comes to New York. I still don’t know what he told them or how he got them to listen to him and take my mate away, that would be something I would ask when the time was right. Maybe right before I rip his throat out and he begs one last time before he bleeds out I don’t know.

“Are you ready?” Alpha Zane asked me breaking me out of my mind. “I mean we still have some time, but I think we should go as soon as possible.”

“Yes, I think I am ready.” I half-smiled. “Time to get back my life and my mate, time to change right?”

“I don’t know, I kind of like you the way you are,” he smirked. “But if you want to become a softy I am not going to stop you.”

“You know I cannot be a soft wolf, that isn't me.” I rolled my eyes. “I just want this over and done with and when you see my mate, you better not try and take her.”

“Oh you know I am going to.” he giggled like a little girl. I knew he was joking, so I didn’t get upset. “Come on we better get going.”

“Wait!” Nick called. “I am coming with you.”

“Look Lycan it’s nice you want to try and help, but I don’t think you can do anything. Most Lycans won't turn against their King.” Alpha Zane said putting his hand up. “Besides I don’t want to have to watch over you or watch my back because you might turn against us.”

“Relax wolf,” Nick growled. “I am only going to ensure Soma is brought out of there without dying,” he said looking at me. “Please Oliver let me come with you, you know just as much as me that I want to end King Gideon and his rein. He doesn’t deserve to be King and you know that.”

“Yeah I know, come on you better be able to keep up with us. We don’t have a lot of time to waste and we need to move fast. I expect a lot of blood, so you better be able to handle the Council and what they are going to throw at us.”

“Don't worry if I can handle the vampires, a bunch of old men isn't going to stand a chance against us,” he smirked. “Don't worry I will make sure your backs are covered.”

“Do you even know anything about the Council boy?” Alpha Zane growled. “Oliver I don’t think bringing him is a good idea.”

“He is coming Alpha Zane, otherwise we’re going to lose and probably be killed. What will your pack do without you?”’

“Fine,” he growled. “But I am going to watch my back, I don’t trust this boy. I don’t even know how you can trust him. He is her best friend yes?”

“Yeah,” I said. “Don't worry he has proven to be loyal to her, and I have a feeling he is going to be a good friend to my pack, I hope you know this,” I said looking at Nick.

“Of course,” he said slightly bowing.
