Chapter 25
Oliver’s POV
Finding Soma was safe at the hospital, I relaxed a little. However, Drew was going crazy because he wanted to be there with her. I knew that would be a bad idea, and it would make her think we had something to do with this.
I needed to wait until her friend came back and tells me what is happening. I hoped she doesn’t think I was a part of this and told the police who did this to her. I knew it was Marks, but I couldn’t prove it as there was nothing in the cabin that gave away who it was. Still, I needed to figure out how to get him to admit to it, and hopefully, he will be locked away in a garlic chamber and killed slowly, but that was only wishful thinking.
“Don't worry Oliver she is fine,” Micah said coming into the office.
“You don’t know that, and you don’t know what she is going through at the moment.” I snapped at him.
“Well if you would have told her what and who you were this may have been avoided.” he countered.
He was right, had I been honest with her and told her all about myself maybe she would have been safe and this wouldn't have been an issue. Or maybe she would have run from me, and I would have never seen her again, and Detective Marks would have killed her without me knowing about it until it was too late.
Feeling her fear was scary, but it pushed me to find her faster, I was a little sad that the damn vampire wasn't around, I could have killed him and that would have been the end of my problems, and she would have been able to enjoy having a shop here.
“You’re right, but that could have taken a dark turn too. We don’t know if she even knows about us, and we don’t know why she isn't with other Lycan. There are secrets about her that we have to find out before I can assume she is going to be okay with any of this.”
“We need to meet with the Lycan King that is the only way we can figure out these secrets since you don’t want to straight out ask her.”
“I was going to ask her questions at our date, now I don’t see that happening anytime soon,” I said rubbing the back of my neck. “I don’t even know if she is going to trust anyone around her now.”
“She’s not,” Nick said coming into the office. “She is scared and she doesn’t understand anything about what Detective Marks told her,” he said crossing his arms.
“Has she gotten her vision back?” I asked holding my breath.
“No, and the doctors don’t know what was used,” he said looking at me and then Micah. “The hospital called the police and of course, Detective Marks showed up.”
I growled standing up. I couldn’t believe that worm came to the hospital and thought he could continue this. I wanted to rush to the hospital.
“Calm down he didn’t stay long but he knows she is there,” he said leaning against the wall. “I have my guards there a lot stronger than the blood bag.”
“Why isn't she with other Lycans?” I asked.
“That is a long story, and since you are not a Lycan I cannot tell you.”
“Tell me or I’ll rip your throat out,” Drew growled. I almost lost full control. “She is my mate, I will not let anyone take her away from me!”
“Relax wolf, you can find out all of that from the Lycan King, he isn't going to be happy that you are claiming to be the mate of a Princess,” he smirked. “But in time I think he will have to understand where you are coming from. But don’t think for one minute that you will become King.”
“I wouldn't want that,” I growled. “I want my mate to become a pack member and my Luna here.”
“Well that might be a problem, you see Lycan laws are different from yours. We do not live in the city because of the vampires and other supernaturals, and she wouldn't be allowed to stay here,” he said standing up. “I need to get back to the hospital I told her I would check on her shop. Your next move you better make carefully because war is about to blow up this city,” he said before leaving the office.
I didn’t know what to say to that, was the Lycan King going to keep her away from her fated mate, or was he going to allow it to happen? I was worried I would have to kill more than just vampires when it come to Soma, but I was willing to do whatever it took.
“So there you have it,” Micah said clearing me out of my head.
“What?” I snapped. “He is telling me there was no chance I would be with Soma, and that I should just leave it alone.”
“Well I still think we need to have a conversation with her, she needs to know what is going on. If she doesn’t know what she is that possess a danger to her and us. We don’t need Detective Marks telling her what we are, and us not being able to explain it to her.”
“Stop acting like she is dumb,” I growled.
I couldn’t believe Micah is worried about how she is going to react to this, she is part of our world, just a little different. I wanted to know what she wasn't with the Lycans, in a way it was a good thing because then I would have never met her, and I would be mateless still. But now that I know she is my mate and there was going to be someone else standing in my way. I had to be careful and plan my next move carefully.
“What are you planning Oliver?” Micah asked breaking me out of my thoughts.
“I don’t know,” I said getting up and leaving the office.
I needed to take a walk, I knew it would be best if Drew was able to run around for a little. He’s been pacing in my head ever since Nick told me what happened and what is going to happen. He wanted to kill Nick right then and there but I managed to control him.
Running wild in the woods was the best part about being a werewolf. There was nothing anyone could do to us, and we were fast and strong. I wanted to keep running, but Drew was already worn out and the moon was out. I decided to head to the packhouse in wolf form, I would figure out my next move tomorrow. It was late, and Soma plagued my mind, but there was nothing I could do for her right now. At least not until we spoke and I figured out how much it would freak her out for her to know what we were. Her human life was a lie and she needed to become my mate before the Lycan King could convince her she belonged with him.
“Finally I was beginning to wonder if a hunter got you.” Micah joked as he handed me some clothes.
“No I let Drew run himself out, he has been driving me crazy.”
“Well, I would be too if I had a mate out there and my human side was too afraid to do anything. Either you need to tell her what you are, and what she is to you. Otherwise, someone is going to come in and steal her from you.”
“No one is going to steal her from me,” I growled. “I know she needs to know what is going on and what we are, but I can't explain it with her friend there.”
“Well, you are going to have to figure out how you are going to do this. You cannot wait until she is alone, it might freak her out, or the Lycan King is going to take her in the middle of the night and you will never get to see her again.”
I growled I didn’t want to hear that, he couldn’t just come and take her from me. She was nothing to him until now, why? Something about this whole situation didn’t sit right with me, and I needed to figure it out as soon as I could.
“I feel like there is more to this than Nick is telling us,” I said walking past him. “Something about war, and now we’re in the middle of it. She is in the middle of it and she doesn’t even know what she is, I think something is up.” I said before disappearing into my office.
I wasn't sure who I could call about the Lycans, not many knew about them because they kept to themselves, and they were enemies to the werewolves in a lot of ways. I didn’t want the Lycan King to think we were enemies I wanted to ally so we could defeat the vampires and anything else that wanted us gone. We had a common goal.
