Chapter 44

Detective Marks POV

Throwing Oliver in the waiting cell was the best thing for me today. I knew arresting him would only cause him to hate me more, and that was what I wanted. I wanted to make sure he knew his place, I was going to get his little mate, and there wasn't anything he was going to do about it. I wanted to see how much I could provoke him, but I knew I had to be careful when it came to doing this in front of humans. Things could go bad here, and that was something I couldn’t afford at least not yet.

“Why is Oliver Stone sitting in my cells?” Captain Asshat whined. “You know the last time he was arrested he made things worse here.”

“I have some questions for him, and you know just as well as I do you want him off the streets.” I mused. “I won’t keep him long I just want him to sweat a little, I want him to know he should be afraid of the police.”

“Good make sure he knows you are the reason he is here not because I wanted him brought in,” he whined at me. I hated this human more than anything, I couldn’t wait for that one day where I could break his neck and not feel anything bad about it. I often wondered what his blood tasted like, I wondered if it was bad as he smells.

“Get him out of here now!” he growled before leaving me sitting there.

Getting up, I slowly made my way to the waiting cells. Oliver was standing with his back against me. I smiled when I felt him tense when he knew I was standing there.

“How many times are we going to do this?” he asked without turning around to face me.

“Until you’re dead.” I mused. “Or I grow bored of you, I find that more plausible. I am after your mate anyways, this has nothing to do with you. But I arrested you to see how much hold you have on the girl, so far she hasn't even come to find out why you’re here.”

“She won’t,” he said turning to face me. “I told her that you are after her, I haven't figured out why yet, but give me more time and I will.”

“Your mate is a powerful asset to me.” I smiled. “I promise when I am done with her, you aren't going to want her. She is going to want to kill you, and there isn't anything you’ll be able to do to stop her. She is going to be full of rage when I figure out how to wake her Lycan.”

“What the hell are you talking about?” Oliver growled walking closer to me. “She doesn’t have a Lycan.”

“Oh, she does.” I smile before I walked away.

I knew I was giving away too much information, but I needed his help to get what I wanted. He wasn't a smart wolf, and I knew he would walk right into my trap. There wasn't anything he could do to stop my plans, once her Lycan was awake, everything would fall into place. She would have an instant hatred towards her mate and want him dead. I smiled at the thought.

Sitting at my desk thinking about Soma and how I was going to use her for the vampires. I knew the Lycan King wasn't going to take kindly to me using her for my gain, but it’s the only plausible plan to get him to stop killing us, plus I knew taking Oliver’s mate away would help because the Lycan’s don’t like werewolves.

“Marks you have a visitor.” Captain Asshole spoke. “She wants to file charges on you, you’ve been making a mess,” he growled. “I’d suggest you make things right I don’t want another lawsuit on us because of you.”

I rolled my eyes, the only person that would come at me would be Soma. I warned her about coming here and making a big deal out of things, now she was going to pay a little price. Something I was planning on doing anyway but I didn’t want to do it just yet.

Walking to where they had her sitting, I could hear her talking to another Detective, when I stepped into the room she wasn't happy.

“I don’t want him around me!” she growled at me, I smiled at her.

“Don't worry he isn't going to do anything to you, you are being recorded.” the other Detective spoke. “So please continue explaining your case,” he said standing up and moving back towards the wall.

“Well Detective Marks has been harassing me and won’t leave me alone!” she growled. I could tell she was pissed off and that was making me excited. I loved pissing people off, it made them make mistakes. “I either want to press charges or I want him to leave me alone,” she said the last part looking at me.

“You’re involved in an active investigation if you continue to cooperate with me, you won’t get into trouble,” I spoke. “But seeing that I warn you coming here would be a bad thing, you don’t want to listen to me, so I am going to tell you one more time stop telling me to stay away. I am doing my job and trying to protect you.” I smiled at the other detective. “You can leave us, like you said we’re being recorded.”

After the other detective left, I sat down in front of Soma, she was nervous and her heart rate was out of control, my thirst was coming up but I knew I could control it the humans in the police department wouldn't know what to say if I did something crazy.

She went to get up and walk past me, I grabbed her arm and pushed her against the wall. Clicking the camera off, I smiled as I turned to her.

“Now where were we?” I could taste her fear.

“Please you won’t get away with this!” she whined as I got closer to her.

“I could say you attacked me, I have this department under my finger,” I said putting my hands on the wall caging her in. “I warned you coming here would cost you did I not?”

“I, please I just want you to leave me alone,” she said taking in a deep breath. “I just want to live my life, you can do whatever you want to Oliver and his brother, I have nothing to do with them.”

“You’re Oliver’s mate, you have everything to do with this.” I smiled down at the small girl.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about, Oliver and I are two people that work well together,” she said cowering a little.

The poor girl didn’t know what she was, and that she was mated to an Alpha male, the one I have been trying to kill but he was not killable until now. I could kill her and that would be the end of her and him, but that would make it worse for me and the Lycans. Damn, I hate those beasts worse than I hate the werewolves, at least the werewolves followed some kind of law when the Lycans make their laws.

“I think I’m going to use you to get to Oliver,” I said looking away from her. “I just need to figure out how I am going to do it.”

“I’m not going to help you do anything to him.” she snapped at me. Man, this girl was feisty I could use a Lycan hybrid vampire, it might be nice to have her on my side killing her mate, and her family.

“I’d suggest you leave and not return here, the next meeting we have here I’m going to take you somewhere far away from here, and there isn't anyone that is going to find you this time. I made that mistake once before, now I know Oliver has friends that are watchers.” I said walking away from her.

I knew I was making a mistake walking away from here, but her time hasn't come. I needed to prepare a little more before I went after Oliver, especially when he finds out I have his mate. He’s going to go feral and there wasn't much that would stop him, except her.

After I watched her storm out of the police station I let out a laugh. I knew I was breaking her little by little it was only a matter of time before she came begging me to stop everything. She would come to me willingly, and that was something I couldn’t wait for.

I knew Oliver left shortly after she was brought back into the waiting rooms, otherwise, he would have seen her and taken her with him. I was glad there was a hit and miss there, it worked out better than I expected. I knew Oliver was going to try and find the answers I didn’t have, and it would only be a matter of time before I had what I wanted. The vampires would finally be something other than bloodsuckers.
