Chapter 73

Soma’s POV

Walking into that office with vampires, I was a little worried about what was going to happen. I didn’t want to be scared, but something was going on here, and I didn’t want to be any part of it.

King Gideon pulled out the chair and kind of pushed me down in it. I didn’t want to be touched at least right now with him being horny and all. I closed my eyes and tried to tune out what they were talking about, it didn’t matter to me. I didn’t want to be a part of their war or their world.

“So if I want the Princess?” the Vampire King asked.

“Oh no she isn't on the table, she is to be married to me soon,” he said clearing his throat. “She will rule here as the Queen.”

“But there is something about her not quite fitting for your setting, and something about how she detests you tells me she doesn’t want to be here. So why don’t we leave it up to the girl?” he said looking at me.

“I am not allowing her to leave.” King Gideon growled. “We just got her back, she isn't going anywhere!”

“Like I said leave it up to the girl. She wants to go I’ll get her out of here.” he smiled at me.

I don’t think I could trust the vampire either, at least because of Detective Marks, I didn’t know if this one would be the same. But it could get me out of here and away from King Gideon and hopefully get me back to Oliver.

“I uh I don’t know you.” I managed to say.

“Did you know King Gideon too? Before he brought you here against your will?” he asked looking at King Gideon. I knew he was trying to get under his skin and I think he was doing a good job of it. Maybe a couple more hours of this and they’ll kill each other.

“If this is all you want to come and chat about, consider this chat ended.” King Gideon got to my feet grabbed my wrist and pulled me to the door.

“You walk out that door Lycan King consider us at war. I came all this way to talk about a treaty and you are not interested.”

“You are not talking about a treaty at all. You are fawning over the Princess and I don’t want you around her. She isn't going to become your Queen, she is ours.”

“The girl is the treaty terms,” he said getting to his feet.

King Gideon pulled me behind him and growled.

“Now, now little Lycan I am not going to start the war tonight, oh no. I am going to give you time to figure out what you’re going to do. You have until tomorrow night to hand the girl over, or lose your entire population.” he said before leaving us standing there.

I don’t know who I am scared of most him or Gideon. I am thinking the vampire King is a lot edgier it seems. I just hope King Gideon knows what he’s doing, and this doesn’t end up going to hell for his mistakes.

“Go to bed Soma, I need to talk to Nathaniel about our plans, we don’t have that long,” he said waving me off.

I didn’t mind going, but right now I wasn't sure where the vampire King went, I didn’t want him to grab me and force me to leave with him. I slowly walked down the hallway watching where I was going. I was scared, it was quiet and that made everything worse.

I crept up the stairs and slid into my room locking it behind me. I ran over to the window to see if I could see anyone out there, there were cars and lots of red eyes in the forest, but I figured it was the creatures of the forest.

The Vampire King cant be serious about coming and killing everyone? I couldn’t let this happen, I know what I am doing is probably stupid.

I take a breath before leaving the bedroom heading to King Gideon’s office. I wasn't sure what to expect, I guess King Gideon to fight my decision and us being at odds. Pushing open the door the office was quiet, I wasn't sure where they went. He said he needed to talk to Nathaniel about this whole thing.

“You shouldn’t be out here.” someone said walking closer to me. “We’re under lockdown.”

“I know, I am looking for King Gideon, I need to talk to him.”

“I’m not sure where he is, but he’s meeting with his generals and such because he expects a war,” he said stopping in front of me. “Shouldn't you have someone walking around with you?”

“I should but with everything that happened, King Gideon didn’t think I needed one because I’m supposed to be in my room,” I said shaking my head. “But I want him to stop this, I don’t want the war to happen because of me.”

“Well he is the one that makes the choices around here, we just go with it and hope we make it through it,” he said half smiling. “Come on let me get you back to your room, just because we’re on lockdown doesn’t mean someone isn't in here that shouldn’t be.”

I didn’t say anything, I walked with him back to my room. He opened the door and waited for me to walk in.

“I let King Gideon know you are looking for him, he told me to tell you to stay put and he’ll be here shortly,” he said before closing the door.

I locked the door behind him and walked over to the bed, I wasn't sure how long it was going to take him to come. I am sure he is going to leave me waiting for a while. I just hoped he came over before this war starts. I was scared, I didn’t want to go through anything or see a few people die because of the decision of one person, someone that was full of himself. I sighed.

I laid down on the bed and thought about everything if I wasn't here there wouldn't be a war and if I was with Oliver we would have probably been mated already and we would probably be happy. I missed my store too, I don’t know what is happening there since I am not open. I knew my life was going to be over if I was forced to stay here, I didn’t want to.

Around dawn, someone was knocking on my door. I rubbed my eyes got up and unlocked the door. King Gideon was standing there with Nathaniel.

“Sorry, we have a lot of planning to do,” he said looking at me sadly. “Come with me, we can have breakfast and you can tell me what you wanted to tell me last night.”

“I don’t think a war is going to be a good idea,” I said as we walked. I was still out of it, but I needed him to know. “This is a mistake, I don’t want you wiping out an entire population because you don’t want to give me up.”

“I am not going to give you up Soma, the vampires don’t want to keep you alive. They want to kill you so they can come here and wipe us out anyways. They want the crown.” King Gideon said annoyed. “I know you don’t understand how these things work, but this is all part of their plan. We have to fight otherwise we’re all going to die and you’ll become prisoner until the Vampire King decided to kill you.”

Part of me didn’t want to believe him, I couldn’t believe him. But he knew their world better than I did, so I had to believe him.

“Please understand Soma, I know you want to save everyone, but you will just make your death faster, and I don’t want that to happen,” he said sitting down at the table in the dining hall. “Once we know where they are weak out, we will start there and kill them one by one. As long as you stay out of the way, they won’t know where you are, and you will stay safe.”

I didn’t say anything, I will just have to do what he tells me and hope this isn't a trick. I still didn’t understand why everyone seemed to think I was important. I thought I was a human, but I guess I was part of something, and that part of something is supposed to be something strong? I didn’t buy it, there was more to this story and I was going to find out one way or another.

Once they brought breakfast out, I ate slow. King Gideon and Nathaniel didn’t eat they walked me to eat. It was a little weird, but I was starving and didn’t care people were watching me eat.

“Finish eating and then go back to your room. We are not safe to walk around, I know your room sucks.” King Gideon got up. “Once everything is over we’ll be able to have our life the way we want after the vampires are dead,” he said before leaving me sitting there.
