Chapter 32
Soma’s POV
Listening to everything Oliver was telling me didn’t make sense. I couldn’t be something he says I was. I wasn't sure if this was some kind of joke to get me to fall in love with him. This wasn't going to work out for him, I couldn’t be mated to a werewolf, or mated at all. This wasn't making sense, maybe there was someone I could talk to that would be able to verify this without knowing anything about me.
Getting home I was happy, I wanted to invite Oliver in but he made some excuse about giving me time to process this which was fine. I needed to talk to Nick more about this and see if he can verify anything else. Once I have that, I needed to find someone or someplace that has more information about werewolves and Lycans.,
“So you want to talk?” Nick asked handing me a glass of wine.
Now that he was home, I didn’t want to talk about it anymore. I was kind of excited about going to Oliver’s land to see what it’s all about. I couldn’t imagine him being in the mountain, but then again I didn’t know him.
“We’re going to his pack lands tomorrow, he wants to show me,” I said looking at Nick, a smile instantly formed on his face. “I don’t know what to expect.”
“Don't expect anything, go there with an open mind. Hell, you might like it, and want to leave the city life, make it easier to protect you too.” he smiled again.
“I don’t know if I am expecting some kind of magic trick,” I said shaking my head. “I didn’t think I would see anything special. Maybe they had a community of people and everything would be great there, I didn’t know.
“I don’t think there is anything magical about what he is going to show you. I think he just wants to show you where you would be living and it’s probably a lot bigger than this apartment and you would have protection from the Detective.”
“Everything that has happened with the Detective is because of something to do with Oliver,” I said frowning at him. “I don’t know if Oliver and I could work out because of the police presence and what he’s doing if he’s doing anything.”
“Soma, do you find it weird that Detective Marks is hell-bent on hurting Oliver and using you to do it?” Nick growled. “Come on I know you can use your brain, think about everything that has happened and tell me that Oliver and you aren't meant to be together.”
“I don’t know what to think,” I said shaking my head, I stood up and walked over to the window. Part of me wanted this adventure, but the other part was scared shitless. I still needed answers. “I need to find some answers before I dive into anything without thinking about it first. I’m heading to bed.” I said putting the empty wine glass down.
I didn’t know what I was going to be looking for. After tomorrow I would think about everything and see if I can even do what Nick and Oliver have said. I still was a little weary about everything, but something deep inside me was telling me to believe what they were telling me. Whether it was because I was getting the attention of a very hot and loving man, I didn’t know.
“Goodnight Soma,” Nick said still drinking his wine.
I took a quick shower and then headed into bed, I wasn't sure if I was going to sleep tonight since tomorrow was another big day, and I get to spend it with Oliver. I was still scared that he would expect something from me, but I knew that was thinking a little too far ahead for even me.
Closing my eyes and imagined kissing Oliver and touching him, it felt right. Again I didn’t know if it was because I was in the early stages of wanting something more with him, or because we were going to be okay as long as everything stayed that way. I was worried about Detective Marks I didn’t want him hurting Oliver either. I didn’t see Oliver as any kind of threat either, so maybe Nick was right and there was something darker about the Detective, and I had to be careful around him, I would be careful anyway.
The next morning I seemed rested even though I was up half the night thinking about today. Something scared me about leaving the city and headed to the mountains, but then again maybe it was because I’d never done something like this. I was excited after I took my shower.
“When will he be here?” Nick asked whipping up some eggs.
“In an hour or so,” I said drinking my tea. “I am a little nervous, but then again maybe something great will happen and that will get you off my back a little.”
“Virgin girl goes wild?” he laughed. “No seriously go and see what he is about, don’t be afraid, and be open-minded. I am sure everything will be great today. I have some things I need to do in the city, and I’ll run by your store to ensure it’s still safe.”
“Thanks, Nick I owe you,” I said kissing him on the cheek. “I better finish getting ready, never know if he’ll be here early or not,” I said skipping to my bedroom.
Once I was ready, I decided to wear jeans and a tank top, and a hoodie just in case it was cold in the mountains. I heard Oliver knock on the door, Nick answered it for me, I was pacing in my room.
“Your date is here,” Nick said coming into the room. “Don't worry I am sure everything is going to be great,” he said stepping in front of me.
“I know it will, but now I am nervous all over again,” I said pushing my hair behind my ear. “What if I don’t give him the response he wants?”
“I don’t think he is expecting you to do anything but enjoy being away from all of this,” he said looking around. “Go with him and enjoy being in nature, I am sure that is all he wants you to do.”
“Alright,” I said grabbing my purse.
“I don’t think you’re going to need that,” he said taking the purse.
“But what if I find something I want to buy?”
“I think Oliver will handle that,” he said pushing me towards the door. “The longer you make him wait the more likely he’s going to keep you forever.”
“Well, maybe I should make him wait,” I said sticking my tongue out.
“He has a point,” Oliver said as we walked into the living room. “The longer we’re here, the more likely I’ll keep you forever,” he said with a cheesy smile.
“Well, maybe I’ll like it,” I said with a wink. “So we’ll be back sometime later,” I said walking with Oliver out.
“Don't forget to have fun, and keep her overnight,” Nick called from my door.
Oh my God was he trying to get me to use my virginity tonight or something. I blushed when Oliver smiled down at me.
“Don't worry I won’t make you stay unless you want to,” he said helping me into his SUV. “But I’d love to cook for you and if you want to stay over, I have a spare bedroom since we’re still kind of new at this,” he said before closing the door.
I was a little scared to stay with him, but then again I wasn't because he said I would have my room. I wanted to see how well he cooked, see if he’d be the one that cooked every night. The longer I was around him the more pull he seemed to have with me.
“So how far do we have to drive?” I questioned.
“About twenty minutes, I promise you’ll love it,” he said pulling onto the road.
My heart was beating out of control, but I was excited. I watched the signs so I knew where we were heading. I hoped I like this place, I wanted to settle down and leave the city. Detective Marks has already made me regret moving here, and now I was looking for a way out.
“What’s on your mind?” Oliver asked breaking me out of my thoughts.
“Just wondering why I came to New York, I thought I wanted to be here and have my tea shop, but Detective Marks has made it hard to want to stay around,” I said with a sad face. I didn’t want to hurt him, but I could tell she was sad by my words. “The only up thing about being here is finding you, I hope we become something great,” I said knowing that I wouldn't be able to take back anything I say now.
“So you are accepting me?”
“Yes.”
