Chapter 141

"No way," Ella shot back, not even a hint of hesitation.

James looked bummed for a second, then his eyes lit up. "How about you be my teacher then?"

Ella shook her head. "I don't do students."

James pressed on, "Then what would it take for you to teach me?"

Ella's voice was firm. "Nothing. Just drop it."

James pleaded, "Come on, I'm begging you!"

The group slowly drifted away until they were out of sight. Mandy, lying on the ground, suddenly opened her eyes, filled with malice. "Rachel, John, Joseph, James, just you wait!" she hissed. She got up, wincing from the pain, and stumbled towards the villa.

By now, Rachel and the others were already back in their rooms. The living room was empty. Mandy walked over to the coffee table, poured two glasses of water, took a deep breath, and splashed them on her face and hair. She messed up her hair, tore her clothes a bit, and made herself look a mess.

Once she was done, she headed upstairs and knocked on Michael's door, crying out, "Michael! Michael!"

Michael, who was in the middle of a dream, woke up at the noise and rubbed his temples, feeling conflicted. He had just dreamt of Rachel, and she was carrying his child. The child was a boy. He was over the moon and was about to pick a name when he heard Mandy's voice.

As Michael tried to figure out if Mandy's voice was real or not, she called out again, "Michael, open the door!"

Hearing her crying, Michael's eyes narrowed, realizing it wasn't a dream. He sat up, turned on the light, and walked to the door.

When he opened it, he saw Mandy with messy hair and torn clothes, and he couldn't help but frown. "Mandy?"

"Michael!" Mandy looked up, tears streaming down her face.

That was when Michael noticed the bruises on her face, and his expression darkened. "What happened?"

Mandy pouted, looking hurt, and cried even louder, trying to throw herself into his arms. Michael instinctively stepped back, dodging her.

Mandy missed, her sobbing stopped, and her eyes filled with anger. "Michael, are you seriously avoiding me?"

Michael knew he had hurt her, so he cleared his throat and said, "Sorry Mandy, you know I'm a bit of a neat freak."

Mandy said, "I know, but..."

"Alright Mandy, just tell me what happened," Michael cut her off.

Mandy bit her lip and said, "I got jumped and beaten up." Michael almost laughed but managed to hold it in, a small smirk playing on his lips, which Mandy noticed.

"Michael!" Mandy stomped her foot in anger. "I got beaten up and you're laughing?"

"Sorry." Michael coughed a couple more times, wiped the smile off his face, and asked seriously, "Who did it?" Oddly enough, he didn't feel much anger about it.

"It was Ms. Williams and the others. They had James lure me out of the room, knocked me out, put me in a sack, and dragged me to the stables to beat me up. Michael, look, I'm covered in bruises." Mandy rolled up her sleeves, showing him the bruises of various sizes.

Then she continued, "And the water on me was also splashed by them. Michael, you have to get justice for me; they're way too arrogant."

Looking at those bruises, Michael still didn't feel much anger; he only said coldly, "Got it. Go take a shower first. I'll go talk to James."

"Okay." Mandy nodded, still sobbing as she went back to her room.

Michael looked up at the stairs, then walked up. "James, come out!" He knocked on James's door with a blank expression.

James opened the door. At the sight of Michael, a brief flash of guilt crossed his eyes but was quickly hidden. He yawned, looking tired, "Michael, what's up?"

"Did you have any part in Mandy's beating?" Michael asked, his gaze intense.

James wasn't good at hiding things, and under Michael's stare, he immediately gave himself away, stammering and unable to speak.

Michael's face darkened. "You really did it! You are something else!"

"She deserved it, for what she did to Rachel," James huffed.

"So you beat her up because of what happened earlier today." Michael frowned.

"So what if we did?" James muttered under his breath.

Michael said coldly, "For the next three months, you won't get any allowance; think about what you've done."

Ignoring James's complaints, Michael turned and knocked on Joseph's door. Soon, everyone on the third floor gathered in the hallway, looking at each other; they knew Michael was here to cause trouble.

"Michael, why wake us up in the middle of the night?" Joseph stretched and leaned lazily against the door frame.

"Yeah, are you nuts?" John also muttered.

Rachel leaned against the door frame, looking like she was about to fall asleep again.

Michael gazed at her for a few seconds, recalling the recent dream, his expression growing complex. He then turned to the others and said icily, "How do you intend to explain Mandy's assault?"

"Mandy got beaten up?" John pretended to be surprised, then clapped his hands and laughed. "That's awesome, who did it? They did a great job; I want to thank them."

Rachel chuckled lightly but kept her eyes closed. Michael's face darkened. "Are you all playing dumb?"

"Of course not." John spread his hands. "Mr. Smith, you don't think it was us, do you?"
