Chapter 189
"Foot?" Rachel looked up to see how his foot was, but he was pressing down on her, and she couldn't lift her neck.
Moreover, she didn't dare to push him away, fearing that any movement might worsen his injury.
Helpless, Rachel had to shout to the manager, "Quick, go check his foot!"
"Okay!" The manager snapped out of it and quickly squatted down to check Michael's foot.
After seeing the situation, the manager gasped. "Ma'am, your husband's foot is crushed by the iron frame."
Earlier, he was busy asking if Michael and Rachel were okay. When Rachel said they were fine, he was relieved, but he didn't expect Michael's foot to be injured. Thinking about it, he couldn't help but worry about his position as a manager.
Rachel's heart tightened, and she shouted, "Why don't you quickly move the iron frame away!"
"We've already called for help, they'll be here soon." The manager wiped the cold sweat from his forehead and said.
Soon, two tall waiters came over and moved the panel, finally freeing Michael's foot.
With the manager's help, Michael slowly sat up from Rachel. Without his weight, Rachel felt much lighter. She propped herself up and stood, supporting Michael on the other side, and together with the manager, they brought him to sit on the sofa.
"How are you?" Rachel asked concernedly, seeing Michael's furrowed brows and pale face.
Seeing her worry, Michael felt warm inside and hoarsely said, "I'm fine."
After saying this, Rachel had already squatted down and quickly took off his shoes and socks. Her series of actions were so fast that Michael couldn't stop her and could only stare at her in shock.
"Look at how swollen your foot is, and you still say you're fine?" Seeing the swollen foot, Rachel felt very uncomfortable. He had been injured protecting her at critical moments countless times. If this continued, their relationship might become entangled and unresolved.
The manager was also shocked to see Michael's swollen ankle. "Oh my, how did it swell so badly!"
Kade, who had finally been calmed down, started crying again upon seeing this. "I'm sorry; it's all my fault."
It was his stubbornness that led to all this, and feeling like a big troublemaker, Kade cried in guilt.
"Alright, stop crying. This minor injury is nothing." Hearing the crying beside him, Michael, with a splitting headache, said helplessly.
Rachel patted Kade's little head comfortingly. "It's okay, Michael isn't blaming you. Listen to him and stop crying, okay?"
"Really?" Kade looked at Michael with tearful eyes. "Uncle Michael isn't angry?"
Seeing this, Michael gently replied, "I won't hold a grudge against a child for such small matters."
At least Kade had felt guilty. But accidents happened; no one could have foreseen it.
The manager, puzzled by why the child called Michael 'Uncle,' continued to solve the problem. "I've contacted the doctor; they should be here soon. Please wait a bit."
"Okay, but can you hurry them up? His foot is swelling more." Rachel said anxiously.
The manager nodded. "I'll go now."
David walked in next, inquiring about the situation, "Mr. Smith, are you okay? I came over as soon as I heard."
David, who was smoking outside, rushed in to help upon hearing about the incident with family number five.
When asked by his assistant, Michael softly instructed, "Go check if that panel was really an accident."
As the head of the family, Michael always had a few people who were jealous of him. So sometimes, so-called accidents might not be simple accidents.
Hearing this, David wanted to stay and help but was politely refused, "Mr. Smith, leave this to me; you go find out quickly." Rachel offered.
After all, Michael had good intentions in helping her, and she couldn't stand by at such a moment.
Initially surprised that Rachel was willing to take care of him, Michael felt a bit of joy. However, upon noticing David's hesitation, he immediately put on a stern face and said, "Go quickly!"
So David quickly took the order and left, heading towards the backstage.
Just then, the manager arrived with the doctor. "Quick, check his foot. What's going on?"
Seeing Rachel's concerned face, even the usually stern and cold Michael couldn't help but show a bit of warmth.
"Don't worry; let me handle it." The doctor smiled warmly at Rachel and then focused on examining the patient.
Seeing Michael in pain, Rachel reached out to give him some strength. "If it hurts, you can hold my hand."
Michael smiled faintly and declined, "No need, I can manage on my own." He thought, 'I'm not that fragile!'
Seeing Michael refuse, Rachel said nothing and withdrew her hand. Immediately, Michael felt a pang of regret, but it was too late. He couldn't ask her to reach out again.
"Aunt Rachel." Kade suddenly tugged at Rachel's sleeve.
Rachel looked down at him. "What's wrong, Kade?"
"Uncle Michael will be okay, right?" Kade asked softly, looking at Michael's foot.
Rachel nodded. "Of course, the doctor is here; he will be fine."
In fact, she couldn't be certain. But to prevent Kade from worrying, she had to say it.
Kade hugged her leg, burying his face in it. "I won't be so stubborn about those toys anymore."
Rachel squatted down and hugged Kade. "It's okay, Kade. Don't worry; it's not your fault. None of us knew this would happen."
Kade hugged Rachel's leg tighter without saying anything. Feeling heartbroken for him, Rachel kissed his forehead, hoping to comfort him after Michael's injury had scared him so much.
Beside them, Michael saw this scene and his handsome face became more displeased, suddenly letting out a muffled groan.
Rachel looked up at him. "Mr. Smith, what's wrong?"
"Nothing, just foot pain," Michael replied, looking down.
Rachel glanced at the doctor, who was massaging Michael's foot. She quickly reminded, "Doctor, please be gentle."
