Chapter 191

"Mr. Smith, this is a couple's watch, and we're not a couple. You should give it to Miss Brown," Rachel said, taking the box from the manager and handing it to Michael.

Michael's face instantly darkened, and he instinctively wanted to throw the box away, but he held back and tossed it to David instead.

David held the box, looking at Michael's gloomy expression with a helpless look. What was he supposed to do with this thing?

The manager lowered his head, deeply regretting his actions. If he had known that taking out this watch would cause such a conflict, he would never have done it.

No one spoke again, and the atmosphere was suffocating. After a long silence, Michael finally broke it, "Let's go."

David quickly stepped forward to support him. Rachel also reached out to help him but then thought better of it and withdrew her hand.

Michael noticed her movement, and his expression became even colder. If she wanted to help, she should just do it. What was the point of suddenly pulling back?

The group walked out of the restaurant and into the parking lot. Rachel opened the car door and let Kade in first. Michael frowned when he saw this. "Are you going to see Joseph?"

Rachel closed the back door. "No, I'm not."

"Then what about Kade?"

"He is staying with me," Rachel replied, looking back at him.

Hearing that she wasn't going to see Joseph, Michael felt a bit relieved but still maintained a stoic expression and nodded to show he understood.

Rachel walked around to the driver's seat. "Mr. Smith, I'll be leaving now."

"Drive safely," Michael nodded slightly.

Rachel was a bit surprised that he would remind her to drive safely. Was this the Michael she knew?

"What's wrong?" Michael asked in a slightly softer tone when he saw Rachel in a daze.

Rachel shook her head. "Nothing, Mr. Smith, you be safe too."

A hint of a smile flashed in Michael's eyes as he softly responded.

Rachel glanced at him once more, then got into the car and drove away. Michael stood in front of the Maybach, watching her leave.

As Rachel backed up, she caught sight of Michael in the rearview mirror and felt a bit odd. Lately, she had noticed a change in his attitude. He used to never give her a second glance, but now he often kept an eye on her. He used to be reluctant to speak, but now he talked more and even reminded her to stay safe. What was he thinking?

At that moment, Kade suddenly leaned over from the back seat. "Michael is still watching."

"What?" Rachel squinted and looked at the left side mirror. Sure enough, Michael was still standing there, staring at her car.

Rachel pursed her lips. What was he looking at?

Suddenly, Kade's words almost made her step on the brake by mistake. "Michael likes you," Kade said.

Rachel choked on her own saliva and coughed several times before she could catch her breath. With a mix of amusement and disbelief, she said, "Sweetie, you've got it wrong; he already likes someone else."

"But I can tell he really likes you. The way he looks at you is just like how my dad looks at my mom," Kade said seriously, blinking his eyes.

"You can tell from someone's eyes? Kade, you're amazing," Rachel laughed, not taking his words seriously.

She thought Kade was talking nonsense, and besides, the idea that Michael liked her was a complete joke.

Seeing that Rachel didn't believe him, Kade pouted. "I'm telling the truth."

"Alright then, " Rachel said helplessly.

Kade saw that she still didn't believe him and puffed up his cheeks in frustration. But soon, he deflated like a balloon and sighed. "Forget it if you don't believe me."

Watching Kade's dejected look in the rearview mirror, Rachel felt both amused and exasperated. This kid was really something.

The next morning, Rachel had just woken up when she received a call from Joseph, "Rachel, good morning."

Rachel yawned. "Good morning."

Hearing her sleepy and soft voice, Joseph felt a rush of warmth. He crossed his legs and cleared his throat. "Did I wake you?"

"No," Rachel stretched and replied.

Joseph sighed in relief. "That's good. You called me so early, are you here to pick up Kade?"

"You know me well. I'm already downstairs. Where's Kade?" Joseph said with a smile.

Rachel opened the door to the guest room and saw Kade sprawled out, sleeping soundly. She smiled and lowered her voice. "He is still asleep."

Joseph laughed.

Rachel gently closed the door. "You go ahead and come up first."

Joseph had been waiting for this invitation, his smile growing wider. "Sure, I'll be right up. Open the door for me."

Rachel agreed.

Soon, the doorbell rang. Rachel changed her clothes and came out of the bedroom to open the door.

Joseph stood at the door with a big smile, holding a large paper bag with "Royal Breakfast" printed on it.

Rachel took the bag and smiled. "You even brought breakfast."

"Of course, I'm thoughtful, aren't I?" Joseph rubbed his hands, his eyes shining as he looked at her.

To Rachel, he looked like a big golden retriever seeking praise.

"Yes, very thoughtful. Come in," Rachel couldn't help but laugh, stepping aside to let him in.

"Thank you for having me," Joseph immediately entered, his eagerness making Rachel feel a bit helpless.

"Your apartment is nice," Joseph said, looking around the living room.

Rachel put the breakfast on the table. "It was a coming-of-age gift from my dad. Alright, make yourself comfortable. I'm going to freshen up. If you want to see Kade, he's in that guest room," she said, pointing in the direction of the room.

Joseph waved his hand. "Got it. You go ahead. I'll check on Kade."

With that, he went into the guest room. Rachel smiled and went to the bathroom.

When she finished freshening up and putting on makeup, Joseph was already sitting at the dining table with Kade in his arms.

"Good morning, uncle's girlfriend," Kade waved his little hand, greeting sweetly.

Rachel's heart melted, and she walked over to kiss his chubby cheek. "Good morning, sweetie."

Joseph's eyes widened at the sight. Kade had gotten a kiss from Rachel first.

Feeling Joseph's gaze, Kade turned to him and gave a smug smile.

Joseph clenched his fist, feeling annoyed. "Is he showing off?"

"Kade, do you want a spanking?" Joseph reached out and pinched Kade's cheek.

Kade quickly sought Rachel's help. "Uncle's girlfriend, uncle is pinching me."

Rachel was setting the breakfast table. Hearing this, she put down the fork and put her hands on her hips. "Joseph, what are you doing?"
