Chapter 178

Even though David felt that way, he didn't dare say it out loud. Instead, he cleared his throat and said, "Yeah, I'll send them right away."

Michael handed David his phone back, who quickly sent the photos.

Michael noticed his phone ringing on the table. He glanced at it and said, "Alright, you can go now."

"Okay," David replied.

David left the office, leaving Michael alone. He picked up his phone, opened Facebook, and saw the two photos David had sent. Michael opened the one he hadn't seen yet.

In the photo, Rachel was still in the same background, but her pose had changed. She was holding up her long skirt with one hand, and the other hand was suspended in the air.

It was beautiful, but he didn't really like it. Michael long-pressed the photo, intending to delete it. However, his finger hovered over the delete button, unable to press it. In the end, he gave up.

"Michael!" Suddenly, Mandy's slightly nervous voice came from outside the door.

Michael frowned, quickly exited Facebook, and put the phone back in its place. "Come in."

Meanwhile, Rachel and Ella came out of the store after buying shoes. Ella touched her stomach. "Ms. Williams, let's get something to eat; I'm starving."

Rachel also felt a bit hungry and looked at the time; it was almost one in the afternoon.

"Alright, let's go to the fifth floor. There are more restaurants there. I'll treat you to lunch as a thank you for accompanying me today," Rachel said with a smile.

Ella nodded. "Great!"

"Let's go." Rachel linked arms with her.

They had just taken two steps when Ella suddenly stopped and pointed to a store across the way. "Ms. Williams, isn't that Mandy's mom?"

Rachel followed her gaze and saw Charlotte, who looked radiant and much younger than fifty.

"Today is really not a good day, first running into the annoying Mandy, and now seeing her mom. What a small world." Ella sighed.

Rachel smiled. "Well, after all, everyone is in Summit Ridge District. It's normal to run into each other."

Maybe their gaze was too obvious because Charlotte noticed and looked over. Seeing it was Rachel, Charlotte's brows immediately furrowed, her face full of displeasure.

Rachel didn't get angry; instead, she smiled and nodded at her. Charlotte coldly turned her head and walked towards a store ahead, completely ignoring them.

Ella rolled her eyes. "Like mother, like daughter. No wonder Mandy is the way she is; she was taught by Charlotte."

"Forget it. Let's grab a bite to eat," Rachel said, retracting her gaze. Ella responded and walked towards the escalator with her.

Unexpectedly, after they finished eating and came down, they ran into Charlotte again. This time, Charlotte didn't notice them. She left the DT jewelry store looking visibly disappointed.

Rachel couldn't help but think of the last time she brought a daughter's necklace for consultation, and the store people told Charlotte about it. Because of this, Charlotte suspected that Grace was still alive and started looking for her.

Was Charlotte's disappointment because of Grace? Rachel narrowed her eyes, deep in thought. "Ella, can you go into the DT store and find out what Charlotte was up to?"

"Why?" Ella asked, sipping her coffee.

Rachel lowered her voice. "It's important. Please, do me this favor."

"Alright, hold this for me first." Ella handed her coffee to Rachel.

Rachel took the coffee, and Ella headed into the DT store. A few minutes later, she came back.

Rachel handed the coffee back to her. "So, what did you find out?"

Ella took the coffee and said, "The store staff said Charlotte was asking if they had seen a woman with a necklace recently."

"Just as I thought." Rachel pursed her lips. Apparently, Charlotte couldn't find Grace, so she came to the store to try her luck.

"Ms. Williams, what are you talking about?" Ella asked curiously, scratching her head.

Rachel smiled. "It's nothing really, just that Charlotte is looking for her eldest daughter, Grace."

"Eldest daughter?" Ella was shocked. "She has another daughter?"

"Yes. Mandy is the younger daughter," Rachel explained.

Ella suddenly understood. "I see, but Ms. Williams, why are you so concerned about this?"

"Because her eldest daughter has something to do with the Williams family." Rachel pinched her brow. "Alright, let's head back." Ella nodded.

When Rachel returned to Starglow Valley Estates, it was already four in the afternoon. Rachel put the things she bought on the sofa, took her phone, and went back to her room to call Joseph.

Joseph was both surprised and delighted to see her call. "Calling me out of the blue, huh? Miss me?" Joseph said playfully.

Rachel knew his personality and smiled. "Alright, be serious. I have something important."

"Even if it's important, you can answer that you miss me first." Joseph sighed.

Rachel was helpless. "Alright, alright, I miss you, is that okay?"

Even though he knew it was perfunctory, Joseph was still very happy. "Just barely." He pretended to be serious.

Rachel chuckled. Joseph coughed. "Alright, what's the important thing?"

"I saw Charlotte today. She's inquiring about Grace's whereabouts. How's the investigation about Grace going?" Rachel asked seriously, sitting on the bed.

Joseph laughed. "Perfect timing, I did find something."

Rachel sat up straight. "What is it?"

"First of all, Grace is still alive. To confirm this, I even checked the files and found an old police officer who was in charge of the case back then. The old officer told me that what your father threw into the river was a toy doll," Joseph said.

Rachel narrowed her eyes. "I guessed it right." Then she gripped her phone tightly. "Then where is Grace now?"

"I don't know that either. Although your father didn't throw Grace into the river, he did hide her. Only he knows where, not even the old police officer." Joseph shrugged.

Rachel frowned. "The clue is unclear again."

"Yes, so finding Grace won't be easy." Joseph scratched his head.

Rachel bit her lip. "So, what else did you find out?"
