Chapter 71 Causing Trouble

Emily didn't expect to totally lose it in front of Rachel, which left her feeling both embarrassed and pissed off.

Rachel wasn't mad at Emily's harsh attitude; instead, she just smiled. Standing up straight, she said, "Then get up on your own."

Emily snorted, trying to push herself up with her arms, but because of her weight, she couldn't manage it right away.

Seeing this, Rachel couldn't help but laugh.

Emily gritted her teeth, "What's so funny?"

"Nothing," Rachel waved her hand dismissively. She replied with a smirk, "Just remembered a scene from a movie last night. A fat toad fell and couldn't get up. It was pretty funny."

Emily pointed at her with a trembling finger. "Are you calling me a toad?"

Rachel spread her hands, looking innocent. "Nope, I was talking about a toad, not you. Why would you say so? Do you think you're a toad?"

She smiled sweetly at Emily. Emily was so mad she couldn't even speak. If she argued, wouldn't that be admitting it?

Emily ignored Rachel and turned to look at James, who was standing dumbfounded at the door. Seeing that he wasn't defending her, she got even angrier. She snapped, "Why aren't you helping me up?"

"Oh, right," James snapped out of it, stepped into the foyer, and struggled to help Emily up.

"James, you're pretty strong," Rachel praised.

James was secretly pleased, raising his chin slightly. He replied confidently, "Of course! I'm a man!"

Rachel looked him up and down, lingering a moment longer at his crotch, then shook her head. "Couldn't tell."

James realized where her gaze was, and his face turned bright red. He subconsciously clamped his legs together, pointing at her in shame and anger. "You're shameless!"

Emily, burning with rage, raised her hand to slap Rachel. She cursed, "Bitch, it's one thing to seduce other men, but you dare to seduce James? I'll teach you a lesson!"

James hadn't expected things to escalate like this. His heart tightened, and he forgot his embarrassment, urgently shouting for Rachel to dodge. "Watch out!"

Rachel looked at James in surprise, especially at the worry in his eyes, which caught her off guard. Soon, she smiled. She had helped him last time, and now he was looking out for her, showing gratitude.

But Rachel didn't dodge as James suggested. Instead, she raised her left hand, letting a kitchen knife slide out from her sleeve, with the back of the knife against her left cheek. The blade stood upright in the air, gleaming coldly, making one's heart race.

Seeing this, Emily's face changed dramatically. She stopped her hand just a fraction of an inch from the blade, narrowly avoiding disaster.

James was shocked, exclaiming, "You actually carry a knife with you!"

Emily stared in terror at the blade. Rachel lowered the knife, lightly flicking the blade with her fingers, and smiled. "My door was about to be smashed open. I thought I was encountering a robber. Isn't it normal to carry a knife for self-defense?"

James was speechless.

Rachel shifted her gaze to the still-terrified Emily, raising an eyebrow. "I heard you came because I bullied Mandy?"

Emily's fear vanished in an instant, replaced by a ferocious expression. She snapped, "Isn't that right? Your lovers attacked Mandy, causing her to be hospitalized. You..."

"Where's the evidence?" Rachel interrupted coldly. As she expected, they indeed suspected she had ordered someone to attack Mandy.

Emily crossed her arms and sneered, "Mandy told me herself. What more evidence do you need?"

Rachel calmly stared at her. She stated, "Without evidence, it's slander. I can call the police."

"Go ahead," Emily rolled her eyes, full of disdain.

Rachel stared at her for a few seconds, then pulled out her phone and dialed the police.

Emily's expression changed. "Are you really calling the cops?" She thought Rachel was bluffing, but it turned out she was serious.

Rachel looked at Emily like she was an idiot. "You think I'm joking?"

The call connected, and Rachel began, "Hello, is this the police? I'd like to report that someone here..."

Before she could finish, Emily snatched the phone and smashed it to the ground. The phone shattered.

Emily smirked, "Let's see if you can call the cops now."

Rachel stared at the broken pieces on the ground and said coldly, "You think smashing the phone can stop me? Do you even know where you are?"

This was Starglow Valley Estates, a high-end residential area in the Summit Ridge District, with top-notch security and alarm systems everywhere. There was one on her shoe cabinet.

Rachel pressed the alarm button, and immediately, a sharp alarm sound filled the hallway.

Emily panicked, glaring at Rachel. "What's going on? What did you do?"

Rachel's lips curled into a cold smile. "You'll understand soon enough."

Soon, the sound of hurried footsteps approached from the elevator. In just a few seconds, four uniformed security guards appeared in front of them.

Seeing this, James realized the situation was escalating. He quickly retreated outside the door and took out his phone to make a call.

Rachel noticed his action and knew who he was calling, but didn't stop him. Instead, she pointed at Emily and said to the four security guards, "This lady came to my door early in the morning, causing a disturbance, threatening my safety, and damaging my phone. I request you detain her and take her to the police station."

Emily was furious, cursing. "Rachel, you bitch, how dare you..."

"She's still insulting me. I hope you take immediate action," Rachel interrupted her.

"Yes, Ms. Williams," the four security guards responded and restrained Emily, heading toward the elevator.

James looked at the unanswered phone screen, then at Emily being restrained by the security guards, not knowing what to do. He called out helplessly, "Mom!"

Emily, tightly restrained and unable to break free, could only turn her head, glaring at Rachel with eyes full of hatred, cursing continuously with vulgar language that was hard to bear.

Rachel couldn't believe such low and harsh words came from a high-society lady.

The elevator doors closed, and Emily's cursing disappeared, restoring peace to the hallway.

James hung up the unanswered call, glaring at Rachel. "Why did you do that?"

Rachel leaned against the door frame, her tone lazy. "What did I do?"

James gripped his phone tightly and muttered, "You had my mom taken away."

Rachel crossed her arms and replied icily, "Isn't this exactly what she deserves? I made it very clear just now: your mom's behavior threatened my personal safety. On that basis alone, security had the right to take her away. Moreover, she damaged my phone and verbally attacked me!"

Rachel pointed at his ear and continued, "You heard it yourself—the vulgar and malicious words she used. Was I wrong to have her stopped? If you were in my shoes, you would have done the same."

James fell silent, lowering his head. Indeed, if he were subjected to such insults, he wouldn't let the other party off easily either. He might even personally teach them a lesson until they couldn't curse anymore.

Rachel sneered, "So, James, if you can't be tolerant yourself, how can you expect others to be?"
