Chapter 179

"I found out Mandy's also on the hunt for Grace," Joseph said.

Rachel raised an eyebrow. "So what? Isn't that normal? Grace is her sister, after all."

Joseph shook his head. "It's not out of sisterly love. She just wants Grace out of Summit Ridge and away from Ethan and Charlotte."

"Why?" Rachel's eyes widened.

Joseph pursed his lips. "She's selfish! The Brown family only has one kid—her. She's the sole heir to the Brown family and TriStar Corporation. But if Grace comes back, she won't be the only one anymore."

"So, Grace is a threat to her position." Rachel nodded.

Joseph snapped his fingers. "Exactly! And I heard Ethan disbanded an elite team. Do you know what that team was for?"

"What for?" Rachel tilted her head.

Joseph replied, "That team was specifically for Mandy. Ethan planned to hold another engagement party after the New Year and then let Mandy join TriStar Corporation. That team was meant to be her support. But now the team is disbanded. What do you think is the reason?"

Rachel's eyes flickered. "Ethan doesn't want Mandy to inherit TriStar Corporation anymore."

"Yep, that's the only explanation. I guess Ethan wants to groom Grace, and Mandy found out, so she's in a hurry to find and get rid of Grace," Joseph said, stroking his chin.

Rachel smirked. "Even if it wasn't about inheritance, Mandy would still do it. Think about it, Grace has been separated from Ethan and his wife since she was a kid. If she's found and brought back, they'll care for her doubly, maybe even neglect Mandy. Do you think Mandy can stand that?"

"You have a point." Joseph nodded, a gleam in his eyes. "Rachel, I just got a great idea."

"Go on." Rachel leaned in, interested.

Joseph cleared his throat. "It's not something to discuss over the phone. Let's meet up."

Rachel glanced at her watch; it was almost six, and it was already dark outside. She was about to refuse when Joseph seemed to guess her thoughts and spoke first, "I'm going abroad tomorrow, so we must talk today. Besides, we can't wait; it'll lose its punch if we take too long."

Rachel bit her lip and finally agreed. "Okay, where should we meet?"

Joseph was excited but tried to stay calm. "How about Central Amusement Park?" It should be a good place for a date; girls supposedly like that kind of place.

"Amusement park?" Rachel's mouth twitched. "We could talk anywhere, so why go there?"

Joseph looked away guiltily. "Mainly because my cousin and his wife are on a business trip and left their son with me. The kid is begging to go to the amusement park, so Rachel, please help me out."

Rachel rubbed her temples. "Alright, let's go then."

Joseph's face lit up with a triumphant smile. "Great, I'll come pick you up."

"No need, I'll drive—it's faster. Let's meet at the amusement park entrance," Rachel said with a smile.

Joseph agreed and hung up. He quickly went downstairs to the living room, scooped up his little nephew who was playing with puzzles on the sofa, and gave him a big kiss. "Kade, let's go! Uncle's taking you to the amusement park."

Kade Anderson wiped his face in disgust. "No way, what's fun about the amusement park? Playing with puzzles at home is way better."

Joseph used to think Kade was quiet and easy to handle, but now he found it annoying. He carried Kade out. "Nope, you have to go. Do it for Uncle's love life."

"No!" Kade wailed.

Rachel had no idea Joseph had another motive for asking her out. After hanging up, she drove to the amusement park. By the time she arrived, it was already around eight in the evening.

Rachel had just parked and unbuckled her seatbelt when she heard a knock on the window. She rolled it down and saw a cute little face, who sweetly called out, "Uncle's girlfriend."

Rachel was stunned by this, then gently stroked the child's face. "Sweetie, you got the wrong person; I'm not your uncle's girlfriend."

"No, I didn't get it wrong; you are my uncle's girlfriend," the child said, holding her hand.

Rachel blinked but didn't pull her hand away, letting him hold it. Mainly because the child was too adorable, chubby and soft, making her like him.

Her other hand involuntarily touched her belly, and she couldn't help but imagine if the child in her belly would be this cute. But soon, she withdrew her hand and regained her composure. She couldn't think about it anymore; she couldn't waver in her decision to terminate the pregnancy.

Taking a deep breath, she looked at Kade and asked, "Where is your guardian?"

"Here," suddenly a tall figure squatted down, smiling with a mouthful of white teeth.

Rachel was slightly surprised. "Joseph?"

"Uncle," Kade let go of her hand and called out, looking up.

Rachel immediately understood everything. "So he's your nephew."

"Yep, isn't he cute?" Joseph picked up Kade. "His name is Kade."

"Very cute." Rachel nodded.

Kade hugged Joseph's neck. "Uncle's girlfriend is also very pretty."

Rachel glanced at Joseph. "Did he call me that on his own?"

"Yes, he called you that on his own. I tried to correct him, but he wouldn't listen. Don't mind him," Joseph said, looking embarrassed.

Kade snorted inwardly. It was clearly his uncle who made him call her that. He only agreed for the limited edition Transformers.

"It's okay," Rachel shook her head, got out of the car, and said gently, "Kade, I'm not your uncle's girlfriend; you should call me Aunt Rachel."

"No, I want to call you Uncle's girlfriend! Hug!" Kade stretched out his arms.

Rachel helplessly picked him up.

"Rachel, you should put him down; you're pregnant," Joseph said.

Rachel kissed Kade's cheek. "It's okay, Kade is light, and I like him very much."

Not far away, Michael saw this scene and frowned slightly.
